The Vault (Beer Store)

“Just two blocks away from Rusty Bus Brewing. Since I was parked right next to this place, I stopped in. A decent selection of Maine breweries with some nationally distributed and harder to find bottles upfront in the store. They also had some olive oil’s and hot sauces with a few other snacks, with odds and ends. Absolutely worth a stop if you’re in Lewiston, Maine, for some strange reason.“

“I stopped by after a brewfest that was happening a few blocks from here. Wow! What a selection., This was the first place in New England where I ever saw Russian River Pliny the Elder for sale as well as several other Russian River brews. No mix and match but there are plenty of singles to keep you satisfied. Very friendly service but lousy parking I will say,“

“Huge old mill complex. The brewery is just one building of many, some of which are in an advanced state of decay; even the river next door that powered everything has seen better days. The taproom is equally large, with various remnants of its glory days scattered about, including a large engine. U-shaped bar at the far end. Various outdoor tables here and there also but it was way too hot for those on the day of my visit. At least a dozen beers on offer, some regulars and others taproom exclusives - all were tasty and creative. Nice pub food as well, at reasonable prices. Servers knew their stuff. Worth going out of your way to visit.“

“Located in a mill with a large parking lot thought the sign was a bit confusing on what side to park on. It's a nice little walk to the tasting room which is surrounded by a much larger space. Great conversations, solid beer. I had a good time here, Definitely one of the highlights of my fall travels.“

“Located in a restored mill, upscale warehouse. Small tasting room with a larger area in a second room beyond. Small bar. 8 taps, four core beers and seasonals, and four small batch beers. Very friendly staff. Good prices. Beers range from solid to excellent. Cool, comfortable place, solid beers. Free popcorn. Worth a stop.“

“Recommended and owned by the same owners as The Vault. This was an upscale but unpretentious place. Totally dead but I went between lunch and dinner. Staff was laid back and unprofessional at times, but service was otherwise good. 8 beers on tap, all local, and good selections. The draft board was out of date but the bartender volunteered to check the kegs in the cooler before I even asked. Some bottled and canned selections that were pretty uninteresting. I did not eat here, but the menu looked solid and affordable, and the place smelled great. Easy parking downtown.“

“Probably the premiere beer store in Lewiston. Big store, nicely laid out, beers, wines, olive oils and other gourmet goods. Good portion of the front of the store devoted to beer, with a good selection of locals, foreign beers, nice US options and rarities. Prices are HIGH for the most part, $2 higher than the same bottle at a shop down the street. Shopkeeper was nice and knew a bit about the beer selection. Easy parking mid-afternoon on a weekday.“

Forage Market (Grocery Store)

“Small grocery store with some prepared foods, items from local farms, a small selection of wine and a larger selection of beers. Interesting selection. A little haphazard, but it seems like they get the best of what’s available in Maine. Bottles from Fantome, Grimm and Anchorage were there with a lot of local stuff. Decent selection of cider and mead. Prices were pretty good. No staff in the beer area and the service behind the register was friendly. Easy parking on a weekday mid afternoon. Overall worth a look if you are in Lewiston.“
