“We dropped into De Natte on Saturday 23rd September 2017 after a great day in Utrecht. We thought that we really ought to explore Alphen aan den Rijn having camped on the outskirts for the last two years, however as it happened this place was not so very far from the station so we didn't see much of the town. It's about a five minute walk from the station towards town, you go down Station Straat turn left onto Prins Hendrikstraat and keep walking it's close to a supermarket along here on the left.

I could quite easily have copied and pasted my description of Tapperij Het Veulen, Den Bosch visited two days later in here and it would have been reasonably accurate other than the layout was flipped, so the bar is on the RH side, mostly wooden interior some beer memorabilia, it's long and thin, toilets at rear, however there appeared to be an upstairs here which I never explored with access via stairs near the entrance.

Being less touristy than many places we've been to the clientèle appeared more locals, most of whom were situated at the far end of the bar sat on stools, they appeared friendly enough and never viewed me as some alien type from the outer reaches of the solar system or Oxfordshire. The barman/owner worked the bar on his own and was efficient, pleasant but not a chatty type.

The beer choice was quite good with about twelve taps half of which were all too familiar but with Troubadour Magma, and an unfamiliar Belgian Dubbel (which I had) and Loz had an IPA from a Dutch brewery who I momentarily forget. We sat outside in one of the two table and chair placements, which afforded a pretty sad street view and appeared to be mostly seats that are used by smokers judging by the ash trays. This wasn't a bad bar at all, I'm guessing it's an ABT bar and I reckon there is a fair chance you'd pick up a new rate if you dropped by.“
