“Sklep monopolowy z wszystkimi rodzajami alkoholu ale piwa było najwięcej. Dość duży wybór, oczywiście najwięcej holenderskich i belgijskich. Były również pozycje z Niemiec, USA i innych krajów. Obok są miejsca parkingowe ale większości zajęte. Obsługa ok“

“Small shop for coffee, tea and other beverages. When I was in Gouda two years ago, they still carried quite a few Czech beers. Right now, the choice was restricted to a few beers from Heidebrouwerij, accompanied by a handful of ciders and one beer by Emelisse. Not the cheapest shop as well, staff was friendly. Not very interesting anymore, no need to visit.“

“Medium-sized liquor store, just a short walk away from the station. Has a reasonable selection of beers from mainly Dutch and Belgian breweries. The Dutch beers are from the well-known micros like De Molen, Jopen or 't IJ, but I also managed to find quite a few brewery ticks from small and/or local breweries. The most surprising find were bottles of "Cuvée De Lambikstoemper" which I didn't buy because of its price. In general, the prices are reasonable though. Staff is friendly and talkative, shops looks nice and clean. Worth a stop if you happen to be around, not worth a detour though.“

“Accidentally stumbled on this place, located next to a candyshop on the way out of market. A smaller place with interesting choice of locals and some decent imports. There were a couple Westvleteren 12s there as well. Cool and talkative seller (seemed like an owner). Fair prices.“

“A large place rignt behind the corner from Gouda's cheesemarket. Pretty decent choice of locals and some imports (and other alcohol as well). Nor too interested staff and lacking some character. Still worth stoping by if in the area.“

“Dropped by this shop on the way from Den Haag to Apeldoorn because of the high rating. Well worth the stop, though had to spend 20 minutes to find a parking spot... Good selection of Dutch and foreign beers, also other alcoholic drinks. OK prices, helpful staff that assisted me in finding some specific beers. Left with a smile and a heavy carrier bag.“

“Selection is good. They sell some very good and pretty hard to find beers (at least for me). During shipping my package was damaged and a bottle broke, so it was sent back for replacement. I was informed by email and, after all, the shipment was quick. One point of criticism: most of the bottles and cans I ordered weren’t cleaned after the incident. Bottles were dirty with clumps and brown liquid. An absolute plus: I got a beer for free. Good store, quick delivery and good service.“

“Nice place with a shitload of all kinds of booze, including a good beer selection, with stuff from most good Dutch and European craft brewers. Also some bigger US breweries. Prices are lower than average. Could spend a lot of money here, will surely visit again when around.“

“New webshop. Nice selection of both traditional styles and all kinds of craft beers, including some very interesting stuff. Not a vast selection, but the beers are interesting and they are still expanding. Prices are reasonable to relatively cheap. Really quick shipping, which is free for orders over 50 euros. Will visit again.“

“Visited pre-, then post-Borefts 2016. Appealingly presented selection of new NL crafties, BE classics and limited editions, UK, US, NO, NZ imports at very decent prices, especially for NL. Small refridgerated selection, large selection of spirits like whiskey and jenever. Pleasant atmosphere.“

We visited here on Saturday 25th September 2016, we turned up at 13:30’ish’, only to see the heart sinking word Gesloten on the door, I immediately suspected that the owner had gone off to Borefts, however he saw me peering in and cheered me with the news that he was just tidying up and would be open in a few minutes (relief). This pub is located just off of the Nieuw Markt, on a street on the top right of the Markt, it is literally only a few feet off of the Markt. We bimbled off for a walk for 30-40 minutes before returning, however our sightseeing was somewhat undone as a large funfair was in town so it was quite tricky to take in what I understood to be a very pretty centre.

Back to the bar, just after 14:00 and chatting to the really nice and also very beer knowledgeable owner. From what I could take in its a single bar room, the bar is straight ahead as you enter and there is seating mostly off to the side (rear) of the room, it was really bright outside and so adjusting to the relative darkness of the interior took some time and when I saw the beer list, I ended up spending more time with that than taking in my surroundings. The bar is on a corner plot on the street and there is a small patio/beer garden at the rear, to access this you must exit the pub and walk a few steps to the rear of the pub and here you’ll find the garden. It’s uncovered so great in the late spring through to early autumn but I suspect only smokers are likely to head our here in the colder months of the year.

We chose one of the latest Troubadour Magma variants from the tap selection and I then had a bottle of Bird beer from Amsterdam called Fiuew? it was a Greater Crested Grebe on the label. It was nice sat outside, the weather was warm and you are in a residential area so good for people watching and watching the local cats. I had another beer from the Bird Brewery, Loz had a DIPA from Walhalla another new brewery to us.

We really liked it here, the owner is clearly a very passionate beer man he came out and chatted to us a couple of times. It’s a shame that from what I understand there are few other decent bar options because whilst this place has clearly got a monopoly, I am sure that it would benefit from a couple of other decent bars in town. I suspect that it will continue to get more custom from tourists and locals than beery types unless the beer scene in Gouda picks up. “

Arnoldus Bieren (Beer Store)
LANGE TIENDEWEG 67

Arnoldus Bieren is located a few minutes walk from Den Goudse Eend and is on one of the main shopping streets in Gouda. If you considered central Gouda as a clock face then this is between 2 and 3. It’s next door to a sweet shop. We visited here on Saturday 24th September 2016 after a day at Borefts Beer Festival on the Friday.

The shop follows a straightforward layout, rectangular in shape with beers on racking down either side and a counter at the rear. On the RH side appeared to be mostly Belgian beers, there was probably some international beers here also, however I didn’t spend any time looking at them as I was more interested in the Dutch selection on the LH side. There was also a huge selection of glasses, it looked like they were both new and maybe some old vintage types, these were also on the LH side but at the front of the shop.

We didn’t linger long, however the beer choice was pretty decent, I picked up a couple of bottles from Raven Bone Hill and a beer (smoked beer) from a brewery local to this area. There was a couple of islands with beer and glasses on in the centre but other than some half sized mini Westvleteren glasses I can’t recall what else was here. I did have a quick glance across to the other side and it looked a pretty good Belgian range with plenty of styles and producers represented. Overall I felt that this was a nice little store, I cannot really compare it to anywhere else in Gouda as I didn’t get to the other beer stores other than a Gall and Gall.

“A very decent bottleshop, very centrally located and with an interesting selection of European stuff other than the Belgian and Dutch bottles. The staff were friendly and I had no problem finding a few interesting and good quality ticks. Would certainly revisit if in town.“

“Certainly the must visit for Gouda, it’s a central place with a small number of taps but a more interesting bottle list that will definitely throw up a few ticks for anyone coming from out of town. Service is very friendly and knowledgeable and prices fair. I would definitely return if in Gouda.“

“Visited during the IJssel & Gouwe Bierfestival so there was a lot more action than normal. It’s a cute little place in nice surroundings and they seemed to have a few interesting bottled beers available. Definitely nothing to go out of your way for though.“

“Nice, medium-sized liquor store with quite a large beer assortment in the front. The selection is mainly Dutch micro and Belgian, accompanied by a few Americans, Germans, British and Spanish, overall good quality. A glass shelf in the middle contains a few more expensive ’beers’. Sadly, almost half of the beers are exposed to the sunlight which should be considered. Weird enough, part of the shelves are extremely sticky, seems to be some kind of resin, so that some bottles are slightly stuck to the wood. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I got 50% off a certain bottle which was expired by two months. Prices are fair.“

“The only? good bar in Gouda. 5 beers on tap including a few local ones. About 150 bottles in the bottlelist. Service was extremely friendly and pleasant. Prices were fair. They have some excellent gouda-cheese here aswell that usually pairs great with the stronger belgian beers. It worked surprisingly well with the st bernardus abt 12 they had on tap that day. If i ever return to Gouda i will be back!“

“Visited after Borefts. Quite crowded at that time, but I felt very welcome. Efficient and friendly service and had a nice chat with the proprietor, who has apparently been the president of PINT, the Dutch beer consumers’ organisation, before he opened this pub. Very strong on Dutch craft beers, with an impressive and elaborate list to chose from. Will surely visit again next time I’m around these neighborhoods.“

“La vam trobar per casualitat passejant per Gouda. Botiga molt gran i molt maca, antiga, on hi ha moltes cerveses però també licors, whiskys i demés. Gran selecció d’estrangeres i gran selecció de locals. S’han de mirar les dates de caducitat. Bon lloc.“

“Good easy to find place not far from Gouda central station. As Caesar said I think the owner needs to hire some people because running this place by yourself seems impossible in the long run. Nice selection of beers, though nothing too special. Good mix though. And nice atmosphere.“

“Visited after the PINT winterbierfestival. Quite crowded inside with lots of beer geeks because of that. Owner still running the place just by himself. I would advise to hire some people. Service very friendly. Great ambiance because of the winterbierfestival. Nice modern classic interior. Reasonable beer list with some good Dutch breweries. There is more to come. Good place in Gouda.“

“Opened September 12. It’s very new and I’m sure the selection will improve. At the moment de Gouwen Aar has a larger selection of beers but Arnoldus has a better selection than Topslijter. The owner says he has 50% Belgian, 40% Dutch and 10% international. I will re-review in a few months when he’s had chance to establish himself“

“Small shop in Gouda, quite easy to find. The street where is located is for pedestrians only but it shouldn’t be difficult to park your car nearby. The shop works also as a cafe, they have a professional coffee machine and a big table where you can sit and drink your freshly grounded coffee, at least I think that’s how it works, I was a bit bbusy with the beers. They let me look around without any disturbance, always a plus. The shelves are full of tea, coffee, chocolates, wines etc, a small portion of them dedicated to the beers. Service was great, they gave me two crates to carry the beers, they threw a little extra on it and even asked if they wanted them to carry the beers to my car, which I politely refused because I didn’t know exactly where i had parked (it was a hot day and I had a long night before). Great value where else you can find czechish beers from small breweries at 2 euros a bottle? I hope they give me a reason to return to that shop by bringing even more beers.“
