“The brand new tasting room combined with restaurant (opened earlier this year) from Dutch Bargain, a microbrewery in the southwesternmost part of the Netherlands, installed in what was apparently a school years ago; I have never been a big fan of their beers but I’m afraid I am not a fan of this place either. We visited it on a Saturday night at an admittedly busy hour (the place was full), hoping we could eat something there, but were told that the kitchen was closed – in spite of the fact that physically speaking, it was as open as it could be, showing the staff busy with food all the time, bringing out plates with desserts, handling pieces of meat and so on. Even when we asked for a simple dried sausage we were told that eating was impossible – even with a whole string of such sausages hanging in front of us, in the open kitchen. On to the beer then, and this proved no better: apart from the rather arrogant and pushy – though admittedly quick – service, the quality of the beers was below average, even to this brewery’s standards. That said, the place was neat and clean, well-organized with typical Dutch efficiency and apparently very welcoming to families with children, so I guess the locals do like it here, which would explain why the place was completely full… There were bottles for sale near the entry, too, including a glitter beer at my time of visit, but considering the low quality of what we had at the spot, I did not bother purchasing any. Note: they have another, older brewpub-with-restaurant just around the corner, called Drie Koningen, which seemed like a better alternative, though I did not go in to check. Maybe next time…“

“Very nice interior. Friendly staff, Superb food. The beer list is very nice. Lots of Dutch small craft beers and of course the house beers from Marckensteijn and Dutch Bargain. I would definitely recommend this place.“

“Surprisingly big and spacious, very nicely decorated. Staff seems inexperienced, they never look at other tables, if they return from waiting other tables back to the bar. It was surprisingly hard to catch their attention without shouting. This was a bit annoying as I was trying to order beer before my food went cold. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the rabbit leg in mustard sauce which was perfect. My wife’s pasta with mushrooms and truffle was also excellent even if we couldn’t detect any truffle. Then again, maybe it was for the better, cause it might have been truffle oil that they forgot to add (nothing worse than the petro chemical waste which is being sold off as a delicacy. Google it!). Very good deal for the kids. Usually we have our kid just eat from our plate, but since neither of us was getting fries, we ordered him a mini steak with fries. Very attentive option! The beers... welll. Half of those I tried had diacetyl. I drew their attention to this on the first beer, and got another one for free, but there was no communication after that. No sorry, no nothing. Very weird. So I didn’t bother after the second and just ordered two others which were very much ok. The weirdest thing was the "seasonal beer". When I asked what it was, I got a nice deScription from the beer from one waiter, explaining it was a darker beer, pretty heavy, little fruity, etc. When later on I tried to order it (one does not start with a winter ale), another waitress told me it was not ready yet, still fermenting. Umm, ok, that’s pretty weird as it was December 27th, and why didn’t the first guy tell me that it was unavailable then? Like I said, it seemed that the staff was pretty inexperienced.“

“Small, but very nice brewery located (operates separately) in restaurant. Owners are constantly perfecting their beers and results are wonderful!“

“Visited on a nice summer Friday. Superb looking village center with that typical Dutch look. (try finding a larger than average house). Was introduced to the brewer, who was friendly as most people in town. It’s great to sit outside, but a view towards their installation would be just as good. Incredible how they manage to brew in such a small place, but they really are constricted to 300 liters per session. And ... manual bottling, so no containers smaller than 75cl available. Tried the wheat beer which was excellent. Didn’t have any food.“

“Brewpub on a beautiful location in the lovely small town Groede. Small selection, but all beers you won’t easily find anywhere else.“

“Stopped by the place on Tues 27/12/2011 afternoon, closed, looked like it was no longer in operation. Website link is broken. I guess I’ll give a 4 for the awesome location in a quaint little village. Just a long drive through the countryside to find the place out of business.

“A pub in a superb setting, a beautifully preserved village, on a well-filled market square with a Gothic church, outside terrace and plenty of room inside, including a kids’ corner, and, more important, a brewery. Difficult to find, unless your car fits on a bicycle road. 15 mins by bicycle from the beach, BTW. Service is good, explanations straightforward. Eraclea, an international (Italian?) chain provides an extensive line of 18 ice tea shakers, 48 teas, 18 milk shakes, 10 chocolate drinks and a lot of coffees. The brewery makes 2 beers so far, and 2 more beers are made for them by Brewery Strubbe in Flanders. Food includes snacks and extensive meals, including beer cuisine, as the bread made with the spent grains. Drie Koningen meaning the 3 wise men visiting the infant Jesus, and a lot of features, including the barstools, are decorated with their crowns. If in this neighbourhood, a must.“
