“Called in to what i assumed was the Emelisse brewery with restaurant attached. However in October 2016 Emelisse was bought by the owner of the Slot Oostende brewpub in nearby Goes with all brewing transferred there and to De Proef. This restaurant is now independently owned, separate to the brewery and called simply ‘Restaurant de Brouwerij’ though it still has a focus on Emelisse beer, as well as other local beers from the likes of Kees, La Trappe etc.. all quite expensive. In my opinion its not worth making a trip here unless staying nearby (you can also buy some beers to takeout). The Slot Oostende restaurant however seems a much better option with wider range of beer and food.“

“Visited the place on a sunny afternoon. Spacious room with large terrace. Nice list of the own beers, quite expensive. Service was unfriendly. We hadn’t time to choose. The guy also didn’t know a lot of the beers. A bit a disappointment.“

“Very decent spot! Nice spacious interior. Service is prompt and friendly. Selection is a downer. None of the white labels available in their own restaurant, that’s just not smart/good. We had the suggested mixed platter for 2 persons as a lunch. Was nice. Good mix of different foods. Value was within the expected range.“

“Tijdens onze vakantie in zeeland bij Emelisse langsgeweest in Kamperland. Kinderen konden buitenspelen, helaas hadden wij regen.

“Visited on a sunny day, so we spent the first half of our visit outside in the large garden surrounding the building. Inside is very clean and professional-looking. I had three Emelisse beers I hadn’t had yet and some old favourites. I was bit disappointed that they did not have any exclusive beers, like some older White Label entries, which was what I was hoping for. We had some food that was well-prepared. One of the two bartenders was very nice and personable with us. Prices were quite on the steep side though, both food and beers.“

“Stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon with the mayor (tderoeck) and his lovely wife. Quick and friendly service from John. Amazing modern, small copper brew kettle visible as soon as you walk in. Only four taps when we visited, but plenty of bottles, most of which I had not tried, despite seeing these guys at festivals near and far, so extra points on variety. It’s nice (and rare) to see a Benelux place that changes its beer offerings from time to time. Beautiful large patio in the back, terrific in good weather. Food is tasty. Worth a stop for sure.“

“What to say about this place... Specially build for Emelisse with brew installation right at the entrance and partially underground/cellared. Very nice and clean looking place with a good tap selection and interesting bottle selection with less than a handful of other beers not brewed by Emelisse. Despite of visiting this place several times, I never tried the food, so I am not sure about that, though when the cooks are working, it smells very nice! Friendly staff, new and good somewhat flashy interior, great surroundings and easy to find! Absolute must visit!“

“Visited for Zeebra II. Nice place, quite big inside, lots of space outside to sit in the sun when weather allows it. Fast and friendly service. Prices on the high side, not so for the beers as for the food. Their beers available to buy, they had around 9 different ones available if I remember well.“

“It’s one hell of a ride, but the place itself is quite nice. Off course, they have all kinds of nice Emelisse beers, nothing from other breweries though.“

“I like the looks of this place, specially beacuse you can see them brew in the middle of the restaurant. The prices are slightly high. The beers selected are, ofcourse, the beers of Emelisse, but nothing special like White Label when we were there. Service is correct friendly, but sometimes we really had to wait to long, and everytime we had to call them ourselfs... Good if you like the beers from Emelisse, but don’t expect to much.“

“Visiting the brewery after the BBF 2013. The place is on a island of Netherlands, really nice place. Accessibility will be difficult if you don’t have a car or a bicycle. Really clean place and friendly. Building is new and the garden is really enjoyable on summer. The beer selection is good and the advice is good. Food is great and the beer advice with your meal will make for you a good degustation. I really recommend you the place especially if you like hoppy beers !“

“I love emelisse beers, it was very nice visiting Zeeland and stop over at Emelisse for a nice relaxed afternoon in the sun with some of their exquisit brews. Service was indeed a bit slow, and I had to go inside every now and then to order drinks, but that didnt bother me, they were really friendly. Went home with a mere 120euro bill, because i bought a couple of crates of their beers, but once back in Belgium i found out they made me pay for 15 extra beers (about 25-30euro extra). Sent them an email, but too bad they never replied.. pretty lame if you ask me. And pretty dumb of me to not check the bill.. Nevertheless, i really recommend this place, especially if your cruising through Zeeland.“

“Very spacious interior. Modern, high ceilings, airy. Also a large patio area and field/garden at the back. We had the 4 course menu with accompanying beers. These were paired quite well but could have been better. Service varied from person to person but generally was good. Prices for beer are on the high side. For sure there’s an element of ’you get what you pay for’ but on the other hand if you make the beer on site you must have pretty low overheads. I would go again for a few drinks and to pick up some take away bottles which are priced lower. Around €1.70 for Pilsener increasing through to €4.20 for White Label.“

“Emelisse is a super place but not easy to get to without a car (or a bicycle if you’re staying locally) so it was wonderful to have it on the itinerary of the RBESG “Crossing Borders” tour. It’s in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by fields and its only near neighbours are cows. The building is modern and very stylish, from the two gleaming coppers in the entrance hall to the simple décor in the restaurant and on the verandah. It was opened in 2005, mainly as a restaurant, but they soon discovered there was a market for high quality beers too and in 2007 they took on an ex-chef as a brewer. He seems to have a flair for putting together ingredients – whether beer or food – as all the beers we tried were very nice indeed and the lunch generously provided for us was excellent. There are five taps and a full range of bottles for drinking in or buying to take away. (Visited 28 June 2013).“

“Visited during the RBESG 2013. In the middle of nowhere. One of the brewers took us for a small tour of the brewery and afterwards we had some lunch (which was excellent) in the restaurant area. The ambience is a bit modern, but I enjoyed my stay here a lot.“

“Visited on the way to Antwerp during the RBESG 2013 weekend. The building is ultra modern and set in it’s own grounds with plenty of parking space. The brewing equipment is the main feature of the brewery and sits right in front of you as you walk in. There is a decent selection of around half a dozen popular tap beers and they have about 20 of their excellent bottled beers for sale too. We only stopped for lunch, but I have to say that the food was absolutely first rate, as was the service. This place is miles away from anywhere, but it was that good that I vow to return one day soon!“

“Visited during RBESG 2013. Modern pub with the brewery in the middle of the house. Nice restaurant area with a big outdoor-section. We had a tour in the brewery and tasted beer from a tank. Lunch was good and they had 15-20 of their own beers for sale.“

“A brewpub like ambiance with shiny copper coated brew kettles. Next to it is a contemporary style restaurant. Never ate here, just relished the beers on tap and a good range of their bottle beers(11-13) Some of the white labels where out of stock. Prices for the bottles were good. A good stop to visit a craft brewery and savour some really good beers..especially the iMP RUSSIAN STOUT and the the EIRS white label range.“

“Great place. Big outside sit area with a lot of sun if you are lucky. The service was top and a good ambiance too. We didnt eat anything but it certainly looked and smellt good. We did a brewery tour which was a bit short and not very personal. They talked a bit about the standard brewery things. Still it was a nice tour.“

“2012.09.08 - After a nice walk on the seashore around Domburg, we headed for Kamperland/Emelisse. If it is not busy and anyone of the three present employees have the sense or motivation to do their work, well euh, then you get a bad score .... though i like their beers very much. Finally we ate in Middelburg.“

“Great place, pitty it’s a relatively long drive. Because drink and drive is never a great combination Kees and John catered to my needs by making Zomers Emelisse with only 2.5% and great flavour.
And I did discover visiting Emelisse must be about the only good reason to go to nearby Roompot holiday park.

But all aside, I highly recommend going there. It is worth a detour. Impressive beers, nice view over the copper brewing installation and good value.“

“Very nice place, food is ok. People at the bar are nice. Suggested. Only note, not all the different beers were available (there were 6 on tap and about 8 in bottle). They organize even guided tours. Ah..the Imperial stout barrel aged is excellent!“

“Emelisse brewery in the Dutch province of Zeeland has carved out a name for itself for producing excellent craft beers. Recently they have been following the American Hop Revolution, but with a European twist: restraint and subtlety in beers which can be quite double-barrel. The brewery is housed in a new built building, modelled after 1880 style breweries, including a charming brick chimney. The 2 copper kettles take up a prominent place and the brews in progress can be witnessed from close by. The brewmaster is always up for a chat. A slick looking bar and restaurant with large patio are very inviting. All own brews are served (tap or bottle) except for the pilsner, which was Kroon when I visited. Ample bar food is available, as well as more substantial meals. A nice stop to while away a sunny afternoon.“

“Stopped during the winter holidays, 27/12/2011. Surprisingly quiet which is ok with me. Great beers with a lot of talent brewing these little gems. New type of building with an older renaissance style Dutch/Flemish architecture. Location is not far from the highway in the middle of a field and not much else to do around beside a small walk around the brewery. I guess one could always drive a few kms and see the beach. Inside is modern and very clean. New brewing equipment visible from my table. Nice little bar with 4 beers on tap and about double that in bottles, they had one guest tap by Jopen. Service was friendly, and it was nice to chat with Kees who brought some new BA beers to try. Prices are more than fair, with all the Emelisse beers that are available and nice gift packs to go. Mixed feelings for the food. Great presentation but my Club Burger was a letdown (the egg and bacon were completely cold), maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to be served. Would visit again, but still a long drive from my part of Belgium. Might have to visit them and DeMolen together next time.“

“New building, built in an older style (outside). Nice place, with a lot of room outside as well. Relatively small brewery, big brewer :-) Large beer selection, some of the standard beers in the cafe/restaurant are brewed elsewhere because of limited capacity. The beers are always interesting, several (very) good, nice food as well. Even by public transport it is quite easy to get there: regular buses from Goes railway station, service less frequent on sundays.“

“Quie a big place for such a small town. It’s actualy located a bit on the side of the town. Big parking area in front. (Bring your BOB!). Very fancy interior, not my idea of a cosey place to drink and eat, but it is definately cool to see. Very nice brewing equipment as well. Staff is friendly, beers are just great. Didn’t had the food.“

“We came for a special lunch menu with beer chef Han Hidalgo. Of course it’s not the same as just walking in and ordering from the menu. But it was really good. Relaxed atmosphere, very good quality of ingredients and well prepared food. Lots of different beers available, which makes for a nice choice as customer. Definitely worth a detour if you are in the neighbourhood!“

“Located quite outside the beaten track, unless you are on holidays in the southwestern province of the Netherlands. Nice modern looking interior with the brew kettles in the centre. Wasn’t too crowded on a saturday afternoon in January, and the service was good. Very decent food and some good beers on tap. No real rarities to be found in the ’shop’.“

“Nice wide garden in a nice surrounding. Did the tour with the brewmaster. The brewer is a really nice guy. You can buy most of the Emelisse beers there. Food is ok, restaurant staff is not great. They are not nice and seem to be busy with eachother and on the phone with friends all the time. So be sure to order if you have the possibility. That’s too bad, because it is a turn off. The brewer isn’t the owner of the restaurant, but it reflects on the brewery. Time to start his own brewery!“

“Quite posh place, with a magnificent summergarden and terrace, a sneeze away from Zeelands’ nicest beaches. Quite good food, if a little pricey, and well-presented beers, made with skill by an inspired brewmaster (Kees Bubberman). As the kitchen has very wide opening hours in summer, it is the ideal place for a break in a seaside holiday. Brewery in full magnificence in the centre of the place. A must if you’re in the neighbourhood. One fair warning for ratebeerians, however. The names given to the beers in the restaurant, can show serious variation. If you’re in for a specific beer, better ask - preferably the brewer, if he’s around“

“A neat and modern brewpub/restaurant in the middle of nowhere (as far as there is such a thing in Zeeland area). There was a nice summer terrace with playground for children, but we decided to stay inside. Had the Witbier and Dubbel on draught, and mussels and a steak for lunch. The beers were quite good in the Dutch scale, and the same can be said of the food. Not the cheapest place around, but not too expensive, either. Credit cards are accepted. Sadly their Imperial Stout was not available, but they sold a carton of 5 different beers (including the Double IPA that was not listed on the menu) for less than 9 euros. The same package was also available (for about the same price) in a wine store in Oostkapelle. Recommended, if you’re in the area.“
