“Once I a while I stop by here when in town but it is not my primary choice to go. Regular selection of mostly American craft brews. Bit cold place, mechanical like.“

“A local chain of beer stores that has greatly improved its selection over the past few years. They can vary by location, but in general I have found the Transit, Orchard Park, and Niagara Falls Boulevard locations to be the best. Focus is mainly on American micros with a decent selection of imports. They do growler fills which is nice for some tap only beers. Price is generally a little better than Premier or Village Beer Merchant, but their turn around isn’t always the best so be wary of old bottles. They also sell kegs (macros and micros) and lots of cheap cases of crap.“

“Stopped by the one in the City of Tonawanda on my summer trip. No taps there. That was fine I was just looking to pick up some Western NY brews to bring home and try. Had a nice selection of Ellicotville, Southern Tier and Ithaca beers here. The old guy at the register was pretty unfriendly, he acted like I was commiting a felony buy beer with my NC license. Also I had to run to an ATM mid transaction to get cash since they don’t take debit and wouldn’t accept my out of state check.“

“Nice little shop. Nowhere near the selection of Premier, but the stuff they had was a bit cheaper. Some are available for singles, but others can’t be broken up, however, these are mostly stuff that’s pretty easy to find in WNY so not a huge deal. They had one bottle of 2006 DFH WWS hiding behing a few 2007’s that I gladly took off their hands. Very nice. Also, growler fills are a huge plus. They get a lot of local stuff, and every once in a while a hard to find gem like the new magic hat sour ale. Not worth going out of the way for but definitely worth stopping by if your in the area.“

“Stopped at the Elmwood location. They had a decent selection of New England and Midwest beers with some West coast stuff in there too. Prices seemed a little steep, but I’m not used to the NY prices. The one thing that kinda pissed me off about the place was the fact that they don’t take credit/debt cards. Good thing I had $80 in cash on me. A decent place, but nothing compared to the Premier Gourmet when it comes to selection.“

“Amazing selections of beer and now that they have rotating drafts on tap makes for a great beer store, especially when you want a growler filled up.“

“As everyone else has mentioned, this place is great if you want to find stuff for cheap - usually a couple of dollars less than Premier. They don’t really have a huge selection of Belgians/other countries but what they do have is generally good quality. Plenty of new beers from Southern Tier, Avery, Sly Fox, etc. I’ve yet to take advantage of the growler fills but I’m always very tempted! Probably the least convenient location for me to get to, the best being Elmwood.“

“They have a pretty good selection and pretty good prices....BUT...don’t ask them anything about the beer they sell. They don’t even know how to pronounce the names of the beers they sell let alone which are good/not good.“

“The Niagara Falls Boulevard and the Transit road in East Amherst are the best. They keep getting more and more selection. The staff in general doesn’t seem to really know much about the beers. Overall I love that I can get beers that not too long ago wouldn’t have been possible.“

“The before and after on the remodelling of the Transit location is amazing. For a Consumers to carry Trappist 10 tells you how well they’ve added to their variety. This place now beats Premier for my $$. Love it.“

“I love this place on Transit. The service is second to none, with guys on staff like "Jesus", how could it be anything other than awesome. Growler station is terrific. The selections are constantly changing for the growlers. Prices are good..One of my favorite places. The Elmwood location is also nice, but not as nice as Transit.“

“Elmwood location in Kenmore. Newly redone. Theres a bunch of locations around the Buffalo area, some are good, some not so good. The selection is pretty solid, with some big name American micros (Stone, Avery, Anderson Brothers, Southern Tier, etc.) and some good imported stuff also. Fairly priced (5.99 average bomber). Staff at this location doesn’t know much, but they are friendly. Consumer’s seems like their trying to bring some better stuff to their stores. A few locations now have a respectable selection of beers on tap. Worth a stop in if your in the area.“

“This place has updated itself quite a bit lately. They built a new store, greatly increased their inventory and selection, and now offer growler fills of some regional micros and a couple imports and out of area micros. Their prices kick ass for the most part, a solid portion of their beer is far cheaper than Premier Gourmet, although pretty much everything they carry is also carried by Premier. However, the growler fills are a great addition and it makes it convenient for anyone that might be visiting Pizza Plant a couple miles down the road. Also check out their location at 2644 Elmwood Avenue a couple miles north of Cole’s and Mister Goodbar where they also do growler fills and have expanded their selection.“

“Updated review 7/09. This is probably the flagship Consumers location. Great selection, usually a few good things for growler fills. Stock can sometimes be old & they keep it a bit close to the windows, but you can’t win ’em all. Good prices & they don’t have all the high end stuff Premier or VBM has but certainly the best in that general section of town.“
