72 /100 Clinton Hall - 51 (Bar) 250 E 51ST ST Visited in Feb 2024. Midtown East branch of the Clinton Hall chain. 20 beers on tap, good food menu, arcade games, large space with community tables, long bar, good beer choices. Good for a lunch with choice beer. |
68 /100 Mayhem Beer & Sandwiches (Bar) 75 9TH AVE Visited in February 2024. A small corner bar in the Chelsea Market with 9 beers on tap and around 10 cans. A few sandwich options and wine are also available. Not necessarily worth a dedicated visit but good to know in case you long for a nice beer while around. |
70 /100 Alfie’s Bar and Kitchen (Bar) 800 9TH AVE Came here on 6.3.2024. Small beer bar serving around 20 beers on tap. A lot of young people on a Wednesday afternoon. Like the wooden interior and the bar. I had the Green City IPA from Other Half. Very attentive and friendly service. Not a bad place if you are close by. |
74 /100 Proletariat (Bar) 21 E 7TH ST We visited on a late-night excursion. Art deco like decoration. Very narrow and long place with very little space to walk to reach a vacant bar stool. There is also an interesting nook at the end which kind of faces the bar, it might be nice for crowd-watching :) The beer list is small, but there are quite good options. There was mention of vegan food, but I didn't try it. Good place to visit for rarer beers. |
76 /100 637 10TH AVE They have changed the name and the decoration to Scruffy Duffy's from Hellcat Annie's, but the facebook and twitter names are the former one. Hellcat Annie has red as the dominant color, the new one has green. They have 28 beers on tap, a small pub menu, a pool table and small tables around. It's primarily a neighborhood bar, where you can still find occasional ticks. |
74 /100 Vinyl Beer (Beer Store) 1491 LEXINGTON AVE STORE N Tiny beer store with 4 taps and around 200 cans in fridges. There is a very small bar, a few snacks, and some cheese, etc., to go as well. The other feature of the shops is the stacks of vinyl records on the shelves. The beer choices are good, mostly rarer than usual and more expensive than most places. |
80 /100 Carmine Street Beers (Beer Store) 52 CARMINE ST, STE A Small bar, typical beer bar vibe. Taplist is great. Lots of bottles and cans. An excellent place. |
74 /100 Haymaker Bar and Kitchen (Bar) 252 WEST 29TH STREET Mid sized modern clean space, somewhat bland high end vibe. Beer list is great. Food was good. About as good an option as is left in the area. |
68 /100 Fraunces Tavern (Bar) 54 PEARL STREET The oldest bar in NYC, so obviously mostly a tourist trap. Taplist is actually pretty decent, and there's a very good bottle list for the old school ticker. Very busy, quite slow service. Fine. |
66 /100 McSorley’s Old Ale House (Bar) 15 E 7TH ST Parada recomendable. Junto al Proletariat. Cerveza del montón pero atmósfera agradable. |
72 /100 The Malt House FIDI (Restaurant) 9 MAIDEN LN Visited in Dec 2023. Three levels huge bar/restaurant full of financiers having "business lunch". Curving bar on the main floor, 30 beers on tap with 4 house beers. The food is typical pub fare at lunch time. The beers are not terribly interesting. |
72 /100 Craft + Carry - Gramercy (Bar) 284 THIRD AVENUE Primera parada. Domingo de noche. Buen trato. |
46 /100 Fraunces Tavern (Bar) 54 PEARL STREET Supposed to be the oldest bar in NYC...it's now a crammed tourist hotspot. Multiple bars, but generally an uncomfortable experience. Beer menu not actually up to date when I visited so points off. |
68 /100 Harlem Hops (Bar) 2268 ADAM CLAYTON POWELL JR BLVD Great selection of beer and outdoor seating available (bit chilly in November). Several items on the beer menu were actually off so not sure why they don't update the board... |
80 /100 The Hoptimist (Bar) 422 AMSTERDAM AVE Small bar with a good selection of beers available in small pours. Large number of bottles/cans available on site too. |
74 /100 Craft + Carry Upper East Side (Beer Store) 1630 2ND AVE Large selection of beer on tap, and a reasonable number of bottles and cans. Small pours available. |
82 /100 City Swiggers (Beer Store) 320 EAST 86TH ST Great bottle/can selection and plenty available on tap too; including small pours. Prices typical of NYC. |
76 /100 Greats Of Craft (Beer Store) 983 1ST AVENUE More like a cafe, but with a surprisingly good beer selection. Small pours available as well as various snacks. Worth a visit. |
58 /100 Top Hops Beer Shop (Beer Store) 94 ORCHARD ST Part of the Essex Street market; small selection of taps and lots of bottles. Untappd beer list completely out of date when visited so points off. |
70 /100 124 Old Rabbit Club (Bar) 124 MACDOUGAL ST Strange dive bar we ended up in at midnight; pretty impressive bottle selection and a couple of taps available. Excellent playlist.
It's a bit small and cramped but perhaps worth checking out early on in the night. |
64 /100 Blind Tiger Ale House (Bar) 281 BLEECKER ST Stuffy, busy sort of place - popular with the post work crowd. Good number of beers on tap, but didn't allow small pours. |
86 /100 Carmine Street Beers (Beer Store) 52 CARMINE ST, STE A Good selection of taps with small pours available. Excellent bottle selection too at typical NYC prices. |
70 /100 600 5TH AVENUE Small place in Manhattan with a typical OH selection of mostly IPAs. Prices reasonable for the area and small pours available. |
72 /100 Oh Craft! (Bar) 1739 AMSTERDAM AVE Visited in November 2023. A small corner store converted to a beer store/bar. There is space for about 30 people inside, with a miniscule bar at one corner. They had 16 beers on tap, and quite choices all. There was an interesting food menu, but I left it to my next visit. It's a good find for the area and merits revisiting. |
74 /100 The Hoptimist (Bar) 422 AMSTERDAM AVE There was a similar bar/beer shop called The Beer Shop before it was closed down during the COVID pandemic. This incarnation has opened in 2021 "as a way to support our local NYC breweries that had taken a massive hit during the pandemic." It's a long narrow room with a small bar, 10 or so tables, some food, and quite an interesting selection of New York State beers in about 5 fridges. I found beers from two previously untried breweries. The prices are NYC normal, although it's annoying not to have any price tag on the cans. When asked the guy says "Oh, they are all different prices". Really? Never suspected that (!) |
78 /100 Harlem Public (Bar) 3612 BROADWAY Large lively place in Central Harlem. 16 beers on tap with a good selection, good food menu, large communal tables as well as smaller high tables. It's a nice place to eat, drink, or generally hang out. As a bonus, there is an absolutely beautiful old wood stove in the corner, which seems to be still functional! |
74 /100 177 MULBERRY ST We came here on 4.11.2023. Nice, small beer bar attached to an Italian restaurant. Around 10 draft beers (Lawson, Hill Farmstead) and 2 fridges full of great treasures. Very nice atmosphere and people. |
80 /100 102 CHRISTOPHER ST We came here 4.11.2023. Seems to be a pretty new beer bar in West Village. When we came here it was the loudest place I have ever been. At least 95% female and average age maybe 25 at 11:30 am. Amazing ! Beers were great and service super friendly. One of the better beer places in Manhattan for sure. |
58 /100 64 2ND AVE We came here on 4.11.2023. Very average place, would have expected more in this part of the world. Dark ambiance, U shaped bar, a few small tables. Beers were mediocre. |
62 /100 12 VANDAM ST We came here 4.11.2023. more on the commercial side, however beers are quite ok. Had a Hazy and a West Coast IPA, both were good standard. Thanks are standing in the restaurant, high ceiling and long bar. Not a bad place. I am glad we found this area of Manhattan, many great places. |
82 /100 Blind Tiger Ale House (Bar) 281 BLEECKER ST We came here on 4.11.2023. For many years this beer bar has been on my list, but never made it as it is a bit off the beaten track. Dark, wooden, cool atmosphere. 28 beers on tap, very good selection of beers across the US: Alesmith, Troegenator, Golden Monkey and many more. Good sandwiches !!! |
72 /100 City Swiggers (Beer Store) 320 EAST 86TH ST No one recognized me as I walked in on a slow Thursday afternoon. I must have gotten really fat. Nothing has really changes since pre-covid, aside from stuffing the shelves with even more bottles.
Thin, sunken, long space, cold & warm bottles along the walls, warm storage turned into a 4' table in the middle front, thin front to back bar in the middle, more fridges & seating in the back. They should probably serve coffee.
They gave me a half pour of a brand new-ish local that I'd never heard of while shopping for cider bottles. Nothing super impressive on that front, but they had a few newer NY releases that I couldn't find elsewhere. Lots of graffiti art, unreadable ipas if you're still into hazies. Bottle prices are 10-15% higher than you'd find in a cheap shop in Brooklyn, no biggie.
See ya in four more years Alan! |
70 /100 600 5TH AVENUE Modern craft in very touristy area. 19 taps and some 4 packs and a couple of high abv bottles. Only their own stuff, except i think there was some cider. Prices are NYC usual, but they do small pours. Ok service. Ok place. |
76 /100 The Three Monkeys (Bar) 236 W 54H ST Beer bar located near central park area. 36 taps and 4 cans, tap list is balance between boring stuff, and some ticky things. Ok service. Prices are NYC usual. 5 oz pours available. Ok place, worth stepping in when in area. |
68 /100 637 10TH AVE Beer bar near busy 42 street area. 20 taps, not too interesting, bur ticks were found. Nothing smaller than pints are served, so not really a ticking place. Ok service. Ok bar. |
68 /100 Beer Culture (Bar) 328 W 45TH ST Dive bar located in the busy area of Manhattan near 42nd street. 14 taps, and bunch of cans+bottles. Nothing too exciting, but still ok selection. Ok service. The prices are the usual NYC level. Ok place. |
72 /100 12 VANDAM ST Huge modern craft brewery/ tap room in lower Manhattan. About 12 or so taps, didn't notice any cans. No flights or smaller pours. Ok service, the lady behind the counter is very attractive, so i guess extra point for that. Ok place, I wish they did flights.. |
8 /100 Murray’s Cheese - Greenwich Village (Grocery Store) 254 BLEECKER ST No beers available! Only cheese, unless i missed something ofc. Shouldn't be in rb, hence will give the lowest score possible. |
86 /100 Carmine Street Beers (Beer Store) 52 CARMINE ST, STE A Beer shop/bar in lower Manhattan. 14 taps, nad huge list of bottles and cans, 5oz pours available. The list includes some very interesting beers. Prices are usual NYC thing. Ok service. Good place to pick up interesting ticks. |
68 /100 Blind Tiger Ale House (Bar) 281 BLEECKER ST Old wooden bar in West Village. 28 taps, bunch of bottles and cans. Beers are not too exciting. Prices are NYC usual. No flights, but half pours available for some. Disinterested service. Didn't try food. Ok place. |
66 /100 169 8TH AVE BETWEEN 18TH AND 19TH ST Located in Chelsea and actually called now "Cooper's Craft & Cocktails". Fancy bar with about 20 taps. Nothing too exciting, but not bad either. Ok service. Ok i guess. |
58 /100 Harlem Hops Chelsea (Bar) 25 11TH AVE Craft beer stand in the food court. 7 taps, some cans. Some of them are interesting. No small pours, tap pour is 10oz anyway. Prices are the usual nyc prices. Service totally disinterested. I guess it's a place. I'm not huge fan of food court beer places and this is not an exception. |
66 /100 Barcade New York (Bar) 148 W 24TH ST. Busy arcade+craft on Friday. Some craft beers, ok service, no other card than visa?! Ok prices . Okish if you like busy place i guess, but not really beer destination... |
78 /100 Craft + Carry - Chelsea (Beer Store) 158 7TH AVE Another one from craft+carry chain... Decent selection, ok service, flights available (19$ for a flight, before taxes), Wi-Fi available, contactless payment accepted. Modern craft as it should be.. Ok. |
70 /100 Beer Run (Beer Store) 203 WEST 19TH ST. Tight beer bar with 10 taps. Ok service, ok prices, ok selection, ok place |
66 /100 District Local (Bar) 72 7TH AVE, NEW YORK, NY 10011, UNITED STATES Modern beer bar/restaurant type of thing. About 15 taps. Selection varies between hill farmstead and bud light.. ok service. Ok prices. Okish place. |
