“Visited here on a Saturday night when the things I wanted to eat in Athens were going to take too long. It's in a weird spot - close to 33 but you have to drive a couple miles off 33 to curl back to it. It's a big, bright room in an old general store type building. There are 32 taps and pretty good variety. The food menu is focused on sandwiches and barbecue and my burger was good. Prices are fair. Service was friendly. Good spot for a meal and beer if you're in the area.“

“Visited mid Saturday afternoon. The place is located in the Plains, just outside of Athens by a couple miles. It has an exit from OH 33 that will put you within a quarter mile. You can also access it from the Hockhocking Adena bike path. The path runs right beside it. If you drive, they have a gravel parking lot that would handle about 15 vehicles. On my visit, it appeared that most folks opted for biking there because there were about 30 people and only 3 cars. This place is really interesting. They call themselves a beer hall, and I can easily see why. The inside has seating from easily 200 people. They also have a porch and green space with 10+ picnic style tables. If you opt for the outside seating, they have a selection of taps and a bar set up. Unfortunately on my visit that was not in operation. I think it starts more in the evening. Inside there are 32 taps of beer, mead, and cider. They had a focus on Ohio brewed beverages with at least 75% brewed there and a good many just in Athens. What impressed me was that they had 2 West End Ciderhouse Ciders on draft, and that they were ones that even the Ciderhouse did not have available. Lucky for me I was going both places and could try all the new ones! Of note, if you pat attention to what the beer of the month is, you can get a full pour at a discounted rate. On my visit I accidentally chose the beer of the month and later realized what had happened. They do have signage up to tell you about it, but I wasn’t paying enough attention until later. Also of note, if you want to see the draft list, you have to look turn around when you walk in. The whole wall that you walk in through is the draft list. It’s huge, but if you walk in through the main entrance you could miss it. This place is an awesome addition to the Athens beer scene, and one it greatly needed.“
