“Modern Alpine look and feel, sleek and minimalist (other than the sports TVs), polished wooden tables, big screen tap list behind the bar. 25+ taps with a good 8+ being their own, of which I tried two and found them well-made and pleasant.“

“A huge place. Massive meeting hall and hotel, and a few smaller areas. Has a spa in it as well. Really well maintained grounds and great food, way better than just pub grub. The beer wasn’t much, just didn’t see a lot here. But a nice place to explore. So I finally returned. This is a really cool place, a spa, a pool, a movie theater etc.“

“This is one huge place that is out of the way for almost anyone. Forest Grove is not close to anything so if your going this is your stop. They have a huge building built back in the old days and the grounds are perfect with the Cut grass and flowers this is a great place for a nice dinner for two. The regular McMenamins pub food with some specials. The beers are all the same with a few extras here and there. I actually think the beers at times are pretty tasty. I guess I am not a huge beer snob. Had a great room and the pools where warm and very clean. Had a great time and will visit again when the chance is there.“

“The Grand Lodge is a massive McMenamins property, taking up something like 5-10 acres of land and buildings where a former private school was located (typical McMenamins fashion, I guess). I really like the grounds, there are 3 to 4 main buildings, complete with hotel, theater, dining room and other such things. Inside the main building, before the dining area is a very small bar, with about 10 seats total... they have about 5 beers on draft, and a house cider on one of my visits. Outside there is a beer garden and picnic area, with a very expansive front lawn complete with frisbee golf course. This is a great place to spend a nice warm summer afternoon. The beer quality is about even with all of the other McMenamins, and the food is generally better than the usual McMen. pub grub. Worth a visit just to see the grounds if you’re out in Forest Grove.“

“They are open all week, not just on Saturday’s as their website says. There was only 2 other people here when I went and they left quickly after I got there. So basically it was me and the person working giving out tasting. This lets you ask all sorts of questions that are not possible in many pub situations. The gift shop is small but has a very wide selection of authenic japanese items; sake sets, various drink mixing tools, cutlery, etc. Even their prices were authenicly high like japanese! Along with all of their sakes available in bottles including the NapaSake in the cool rocket ship bottle. They had every one of their sakes available for tasting in nice wine glasses at the perfect temperature. They even had fresh water and neutral crackers for inbetween cleaning! I was able to taste a couple &quo;prototype&quo; sakes which aren’t going to be released until this fall. One was a plum @ 8% which I believe wasn’t sake based, I’ll check back on that. The other was a semi-sweet namasake that was amazing, their best product yet! Perhaps it was the freshness, but at 16% it was like mountain spring water with a light fruity nose, not too sweet either, almost my perfect discription of a good sake. This was definately worth the visit to me being a sake sipper. Recommended but I’m sure I’ll be the only one who ever goes here.“
