“I was in the area for the U-Haul to pick up wine shippers to send all the beer I bought on my trip back home. On our way back, I noticed a dingy sign pointing to the right saying Brew Pub. Run down looking sign on a dirty building, and thought uh, uh. When we turned right, we were surprised to see a nice little quaint town called Tigard. It was early (10:30, and I also noticed they served breakfast). So, win-win. A new unexpected Brew Pub visit and breakfast. Average beers, but for me, a pleasant unexpected stop to eat breakfast and tick off another place. Also a beautiful day to eat on their patio.“

“Visited on 11th November 2014. Standard brewpub venue, wooden bench tables, solid floor and stools at the bar. 10 beers available on tap but not all had tasters available. Not the best quality at all. Service was friendly and prices OK. Wouldn’t revisit.“

“Visited here a couple weeks ago, and really enjoyed it. Standard McMenamins feel in the front with a large pool hall and several fish tanks scattered around the venue - the fish tanks being the key selling point, especially if you have young kids. I was able to eat my meal in peace because my son was too busy watching and naming the fish. They also have a nice size patio and the service was very good. Worthy of a visit if you have small children and are in desperate need of a hot meal with ’free’ entertainment.“

“This is a really nice old-school German restaurant. Good food, a sort of upscale vibe while also being very much a place to have fun. The beer selection wasn’t great for Portland but it was decent, obviously lots of German brews. Very nice place. I will be back.“

“Tigard’s 1st growler shop, and they hit it out of the park. Really, the only thing I would change is to add a few more taps. Overall best selection in the area. Plus they have the most wine taps I’ve ever seen in my life. The nicest thing, they also have good. Not your typical deep fried "bar" food, but really nice simply, made to order items.“

“Nice new tap house with above average wine selection. Small menu but fresh and above average food. Attentive staff, big TV's family friendly. Highly recommended and needed in Tigard.“

“Visited around 12 noon on Tuesday 11/11/14 and the place was starting to get busy. Generic old school late 90’s/early 00’s brewpub feel, no frills, concrete floor, wooden bench tables, some stools at the bar, just like many others. 10 beers on tap, all their own brews, growlers to go. $9 for a 6 beer taster (a little pricey for the beer quality), predetermined flights though and they only do pints on the others (likely more interesting offerings)! My ratings averaged out at 2.9 which was the second lowest of the trip for brewpubs, just ahead of the nearby Old Market, what a 2 hour ticking session we just endured. Best beer by far for me was the Sneaky Fox DIPA which scored added some respectability with a 3.4. The owner/manager noted we were taking notes of the beers and came to chat and was good enough to give us a few more tasters of the beers we hadn’t rated. Service was Ok. Old school locals eating brewpub (we didn’t try the food). Not somewhere to head to unless you are in the vicinity or a desperate ticker like me (combine this with Old Market and Golden Valley). “

“Been here several times. Always something interesting on tap and the food is great. Typical sports bar with the exception of all the good beer.“

“Pretty much your regular brewpub setting: lots of seating, 8 beers on tap and the usual pub food. The service was very slow with literally one person serving the entire place, maybe 12 tables outside and in. The beer was fine, mostly average. Good parking in Tigard.“

“Solid selection of locals, regionals and imports. Four different Heater Allen bottles. Some new cans and bottles not seen elsewhere in town. High turnover, dedicated beer manager and all bottles in a cooler, which is something I would like to see become standard.“

“I could see how the service could be slow here, paticularly on the front patio but it was just fine for me and the group I was with. I liked the selection with a couple high gravity options and a wide berth of styles. Great selection in food choices too. Something for everyone and the prices were quite reasonable. $3.75/pint is good around here but the happy hour $2.75/pint deal is one of the best around. The outdoor area was nice with fun people around. Definitely a treasure in the SW reaches of Portland area.“

“Great place to jump off I-5 and snag a brew and a burger... Stand alone building with huge outdoor seating area. They brew on site here!“

“Quaint strip center version of Mcmenamins... One of the orginals... Nice outdoor patio and pool areas. Try and snag Mike as your waiter! The best in town...“

“Ordered a sampler (after waiting at a table for about 10 min) beers were above average, but nothing great. after having the sampler in front of my gf and I for about 15 min we were able to order our food. the place wasn’t packed either. the food was good, especially the burger. We were able to finish our food and the sampler and sit with nothing for about 20 min before anyone decided to come and give us the check. Would have been better if the service had been even a little bit attentive. Prices were fair.“

“One of our local hangouts... Love the Pot Roast Sandwich! 2 Micro Brewfests are held here each year (Winter-February) and (Summer-August) where they bring in 20 or so small brewers beers for tastings. Kid friendly with a play area, Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360... Beer-is better than Mcmenamins in quality but average compared to UHW or Others.“

“(Visited 02/2010): Max’s is in Tigard on 99W not too far off I-5. Street parking is plentiful in the surrounding area. The inside is kind of nondescript, with the bar on the right side and pub table and booth seating on the left. There is a full length mirror behind the bar. They also have a shelf full of merchandise that is pretty inexpensive. The Fanno Creek brewpub has around 8 beers on tap, and they are all pretty much average. There is a Golden, Belgian, IPA, Stout, Doppelbock, Baltic Porter and a couple others. None were decidedly bad, but nor were they memorable. Service a couple hours before Superbowl Sunday was pretty good. The bartender provided samples of everything and gave other recommendations for beer spots in the area. We did not have any food on this visit. Overall this place is not high on the list of places to see on a Portland visit but it is worthwhile for a change of pace or if passing by the area.“

“Went to their Nano Brewfest, they didn’t have many guest taps, luckily they let me sample what they had on tap in there regular bar area as well. Their Vanilla Porter (4) is very smooth and not too sweet, I couldn’t taste the vanilla though. Dry Hopped Pacific Red (3) was hoppy with just an average hop flavor. Golden (3) had a bit of Belgian yeast taste. Baltic Porter (2) and Scottish (2) where both way too sweet. My buddy liked their IPA ("4," I don’t usually try IPAs).“

“Family friendly with lots of space for big and small groups this was a nice pub. They had a small area for the kids to play which helps when they get tired of listening to daddy and mommy talk about beer. With the brewery right up front you can watch as they are moving about and making a new batch of beer. The food was regular pub fair which is awesome for me. Club sandwiches are for me I think I should rate all the club sandwiches I have ever had. The brews where pretty tasty they had some flair and some interesting flavors to choose from. The Belgian influence was in a lot of the brews. I really liked the Vanilla Porter it was subtle with vanilla, smooth and creamy. I can see why lots of people like this place there is a good vibe and fun brews to have. The parking can be a tad touchy and the traffic in the area can be a tad awful.“

“Came here so many times they knew my name. The Spaten and occasional special guest brews are pretty good. The food is awesome and the atmosphere is like an old German pub. They took the old Mexican restaurant and made quite a difference and brought some needed good beer to the Tigard area. This was the first new expansion for the Gustav’s chain in quite a while. They have some good and poor service and at times the bartenders know the beer and others do not. The beer is top notch German Spaten. It is worth the stop if you’re in the area. Be sure to get the Spaten Optimator it is the best and very fresh.“

“In the heart of old downtown Tigard. Was served by Steve a gregarious barman who was very helpful and interesting to chat with. The brewpub is a bit industrial looking but is trying hard to look inviting. I will try the outdoor area next visit. The beers were mostly what they brew with a decided tilt toward the Belgian styles. They have an interesting menu which I will explore later but I was on my way to a family gathering and didn’t want to fill up. I sampled at least five beers and bought a growler of their HPA for the party. The beer was consumed rapidly and with great relish. By the way they no longer stock the bottled Belgian beers due to a lack of demand. Their versions are quite nice though. There is parking behind the brewpub. Overall I enjoyed the visit.“

“Owner, brewer, proprietor Max offered up a great selection of beers that ran the gamut from hearty dark ales to Belgians to crisp summertime lagers. Atmosphere of building was a bit of a work in progress and a bit sterile, though clean and well maintained. Brewing facility was very nice, though tightly fit. It was obvious that Max is a top notch brewer. His beers at Tucks were always good, too. Tigard itself is a town to be desired, but this little oasis is worth the trip.“

“Big building with a great feel inside. Nice painted murals on the walls with glass windows to see into the brewing system. The bar was amazing, the staff told the story of salvaged wood from the bottom of the river. There were about 10 taps pours a great variety of beers as well as a cooler full of some great Belgian beers. Food was delicious. My only complaint was the service was slow, but it was very busy and they haven’t been open long, so that will iron itself out. It also seemed a bit bright in there, the bright lights kinda reminded me of working in an office, which was just what I was trying to escape.“

“Old building, but, needs to be renovated a bit. Good service. I had the sampler. The port and stout tops my list. Hammerhead follows. Did not care for the raspberry beer. Lots of families with kids there...good place for families so it seems. I’d come back.“

“A great old building and the atmosphere is McMenamins for sure. It is a great place for a lunch and dinner and kids can come also. The brews are all the same but the Barley Wine is there only different stuff and it is quite good. A good time to be had here.“

“Cool building. Upscale dining. I sat at the bar. Smoky and loud. Busy wait staff, lousy service. Beers were good but average. Try the John Barleycorns Barleywine while you’re here. Other than that it’s just another McMenamins.“
