“Ambiance - it's a nice venue, it's just a little too Martha Stewart Cape Cod fruitcake for me. Service - wow! That was hard to watch. Selection - no taps, but some ok bottles. CBS available, but at $40 too much. Food - is alright, very clean and healthy. Value - too pricey. Overall - a little too weird for me. I'm sure it has its appeal to others though.“

“Ambiance - great town, location, and venue. Service - is very kind and friendly. Selection - is a little small and the offerings are strictly from PA. They are fairly safe and unadventurous. Food - is outstanding. Chef deserves serious recognition. Value - a little more expensive on beer, fairly expensive on menu. Overall - this is a great little gem. “

“Ambiance - is a mixed bag. Sometimes it's older locals. Sometimes it's a hipster type crowd. Sometimes it's a young bro-type crowd. Was previously called Crocodile Lyle's they did clean up the place a little bit and it's much better for it. Service - some staff are great others are so-so. Generally helpful and always knowledgeable. Selection - is higher end IPA craft and some other elements that are also good. Food - great little gastropub items. Best part of the bar for sure. Value - prices are very reasonable. Current ownership and rebranding is really good. Good little venue. “

“Ambiance - it’s a very swanky atmosphere. It is in a Victorian style building, so it has that very appealing architecture (exterior and interior) Service - the staff is pretty nice. Selection - Although there is only 40 beers, there is some things of note. The choices are really nice ~ well thought out. Stuff from England, Belgium, and more. Now there is something that is really crazy! This bar is also an absinthe bar. One of the few places that you can try this stuff. Everything is done the traditional way as well. I wouldn’t usually discuss other spirits, but I think it’s noteworthy here. The selections are really grand. Food - the food is fine dining, and very good. Value - a little overpriced. This places is purely geared for the tourists that flood this town.“

“Ambiance - this is a very comfortable place, you feel safe and secure. The place is clean and neat, with a nice decor and nice staff. Service - the service staff is very nice, not overly social, but willing to help in anyway. They aren’t super savvy with the beers they carry, but it’s more of a restaurant than it is a pub. Selection - the selection they have is nice, a little bit of everything. No rarities, but nice choices, nonetheless. Food - the food is very good Value - the prices are aimed more at the suburbanites and the city folk. Prices sort of bully out the small town regulars.“

Highland Beverage (Beer Store)

“For a small town, Highland seems to cover all the bases. The ambiance is not really applicable, it’s a simple beer distributor/store. The owner Tommy is helpful, and does his best to find what your looking for. The selection is good, again he has a lot, but it’s mostly macros and premiums, although he does also carry a range of domestic specialties and higher quality breweries. The value is good. All in all it is a good local distributor/store.“

“was in town so I stopped for a beer. I didn’t go upstairs to the resturant part, just stayed in the bar. The only thing I got out of it was that they had a huge flag stating they were ’NY Jets Headquarters’. That part I liked the most. I would stop in again if I was in Jim Thorpe again.“

“Very pleasant. They have a solid selection of beers. Not the largest variety of beers ever, but a mix of beers that satisfies the locals and discriminating tastes. It’s a tier of macro’s for the local mug clubbers, Irish brews including Guinness, Harp, Murphy’s, and Smithwick’s for the Irish enthusiast and novelty seekers. It also offers a selection of quality beers - including Southampton, Leffe, Sierra Nevada, Magic Hat, Hoegaarden, Franziskaner, Stella Artois, Leinenkugels, Anchor, Troegs, Lancaster, Chimay, Dogfish Head rarities, Brooklyn seasonals, Sam Adams seasonals, Hobgoblin, Stone Brewing Co. and something new for the brew lovers every week. In-house beer enthusiast Jason implemented the Specialty Beer of the Week system. It is extremely exciting and has had some rave reviews. It gives the enthusiasts in the area a chance to have something new and exciting week to week, without having to leave for the city.“
