88 /100 64 MILL ROAD Absolute serendipity finding this joint. We were out excursioning the South Head peninsula NW of Auckland. Little working town called Helensville. The tap room is unpretentious and small, but it's exactly what I've been looking for all these years of beerhunting. Off the beaten path, top quality beer, friendly folks. If you're looking for potted plants and neatly folded napkins, piss off. The service/folks are great. The base beers are good, the big beers are world class. There's a fish-n-chips shop two doors down that will fill your belly - the manager/owner was out of casting central as a "cooking mom/granny" and came in with a piping hot tray of fish and chips which had a delicious aroma. Again, this is a must stop if you're within a stone's throw of Auckland. Incredible. |
