“Yes this known primarily as a daiquiri-to-go place but they have a solid beer selection too. Best selection I could find around the Texas Tech campus area. They have 8 taps including some local Lubbock beers that aren’t canned/bottled. Being Texas you can get Crowlers and even 20oz cups filled to go! They had a good selection of cans and bottles that was focused on Texas brewers. A few singles but they did make mixed 6-packs on their own where you could get a pre-mixed sixer of TX IPAs. I’d go back. Good service but not terribly knowledgeable. Fair prices.“

“Visiting Lubbock and was at the Buddy Holly Museum, check phone app for brew pub and found this one a block away. Tried a flight and all were very good. Food was standard pub fare, but really good. While inside eating had a Texas Thunder Storm, so stayed for a couple hours and had a couple of pints. All very good.“

“Big box store with good selection, especially considering that it is Lubbock. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. All in all, terrific stop.“

“For Texas? A decent beer selection along with wines, liquors, caviar, coffees under a large box roof (though it has deli sammiches and a bit of fried chicken it’s not a restaurant and more a liquor store with a few ways to find something small to eat so I didn’t apply food to it).......I found this to be an oasis in the desert and thankful for it......I will not compare it to other areas, I was glad to find it.“

“The beer scene in Texas is very much behind the rest of the country so I wasn’t expecting much going to a franchised brewpub operation. The brewpub is inside a purpose built box where there walls are made to look interesting but the ceiling is obviously giving away the fact it’s not looking for ambiance. I grabbed flight of their "home-brewed" microbrews, assuming they are made there but didn’t research, and found the beers to my liking. The pale was enjoyably hopped, the IPA solid, the basic stout a bit metallic and the imperial stout heavier and more metallic but other wise not bad. Service was decent. Food is where they fell down. The kitchen must be a disaster as the bison burger I ordered was charred to hockey puck status, and crunchy on the edges. Everything had a twang to it which was not completely enjoyable, the slaw tasted like soap. I may go back for a beer or two but not any food, maybe just a hot dog so long as I can wipe off whatever they try to throw on, or something in a package.....maybe a packaged hot dog is the answer.“

“It’s a big chain liquor store, and about the best you can find in Lubbock. The selection is great for Lubbock, but pretty mediocre in comparison to stores I’ve been to in Florida or Colorado. The service is mixed. The current beer guy is EXTREMELY helpful and knowledgeable, though I’ve only talked to him over the phone. In store, the guy standing by the beer asking if I needed help didn’t really have any idea what I was talking about. Definitely wasn’t the same guy. Prices are good as far as I can tell.“

“Apparently the only brewpub in Lubbock....near the Texas Tech campus....while I enjoy live music the place has no acoustics and was overly loud so a conversation across the table was near impossible.....the food was good, solid local type pub fare with good sized portions. I went for the sampler and enjoyed several with two not to my liking, but glad I tried them all. The brown was exceptional.“

“Great Gatropub! Enough beer wine and craft cocktails to make anyone happy. Food is limited but highquality, from scratch, fare isn’t cheap but its well worth it. Enjoyment is a given here!“

“Great prices! Large supply of beer but not in the area of craft brews. Lubbock location is shutting down but Wolforth location is remaining open.“

“Best place in Lubbock if you are looking for fresh, home brews. Food is great and prices for their own brews are great. I only wish they had more of a selection but their brewery is only big enough to brew 4 beers at a time.“

“Probably one of the better beer stores in Lubbock but to repeat previous ratings that isn’t saying much if you are comparing to bigger cities. There isn’t much in Lubbock but this is one of the better places to find craft beer.“

“Great selection if you are looking for some off beers but a bit overpriced and not a large selection of some of the bigger craft brews such as dogfishhead and belgium brew.“

“Located near downtown Lubbock in an area that looks like an old western town. Interior has a heavy wood / metal texas vibe and is shaped like a large rectangle with a small bar in the back. Menu is limited to mostly meat and there was 6 beers on tap. My food was OK and the beers were enjoyable.“

“Stopped in last December while visiting family. Nice feeling place, rustic and wood. Beers ranged from standard to interesting. Had the list of beers up on the chalkboard that gave the specs on each one. Bartender seemed interested in something else. Didn’t try the food.“

“Typical college bar, even though they boast some of the not so typical beers. But the selection is still very slim. Plus this place is hard to find open. I have visited the in-laws about 20 times and was always told we would hit this place up. I was up there on the last of those 20 and we finally got to go. Might have been the anticipation, but I was really let down. Was told it used to be better. Weren’t they all?“

“Sograte BBQ and Brew is now offering homebrew supplies and has been doing business as Lubbock Homebrew Supply since spring of 2010. The new start-up store is only open part time, check the website for store hours.“

“Got a few local sixers after driving out to a much more country area than Texas Tech is. The bulk of the store is vaulted ceiling and fridges. Had a very few CO beers and a few TX ones. Section was not all that.“

“No thanks. A few dozen taps but barely anything decent - hell, barely anything Texan. Place is fine but for the huge drug store style window. Wood trim, tough bartender. Good for after-parties, but at 10 on a Saturday it was more or less empty.“

“Not a wide building but a deep one. Decor blends contemporary western with old-fashioned touches. The interior is clearly a floorplan that isn’t used much anymore. Comfortable. Lots of well-dressed locals. Small bar area. Have many taps, but only 4 were flowing when I went. Service can be slow on a weekend night. Food is unmistakeably steakhouse. Beers crafted well but not super ambitious. More of a food stop.“

“Stopped there while visiting town with my brother. Place had a lot of stuff on the walls, lighting was dim. Food was above par, and the beers they brewed were very good. Server was pretty attentive to our needs, and was quick to return with our beer orders.“

“Positives: HUGE selection, great atmosphere (daytime), easily best place in town for a beer. Negatives: Service is awful (expected in Lubbock), too crowded atmosphere (nighttime when college is in), sadly the ONLY decent place in town for a beer!“

“Great to see a brewery in Lubbock again. I’ve visited this place a couple of different times. The beer is so-so in general, but better than most of the stuff you get in these parts. It tastes like they use the same malt combinations for most of their beers, which makes most of the stuff taste pretty similar (especially the lighter beers). The food is all right. Definitely nothing fantastic, and the portions are smaller than you might expect. Despite some minor flaws that the place has, it is still a great place to enjoy a decent brewpub beer on a weekend afternoon!“

“Went on a busy Friday night at about 1am. Large college crowd, and about 95% of them were indulging on BMC’s. Some of the stuff is rather pricey, but about what I expected. Decent service and very good selection for the area. The Real Ale Brown Ale I had was fresh and delicious. For Lubbock, this place is great... and easily #1 in my humble opinion.“

“I thought this was going to be a chill Irish pub, but I guess I just went on the wrong night. They were playing annoying pop music all night long. There is an outdoor patio, which is pretty nice. Occasionally live bands out there as well. Only a couple of taps of the standard English/Irish macros, like Guinness, Bass, Harp and Killian’s Red. A nice bottle selection of mainly UK brews, but nothing special. Bottle prices weren’t too bad. I think I paid around $4 for a 20 oz. Young’s Chocolate stout. Average service. I’d probably visit the place again.“

“Well I have been to a lot of beer stores in the past several years, and this store is really nothing special... besides the fact it has the best selection of craft beer for probably at least a hundred miles in any direction. That’s really not saying it’s a great store, or that they have anything rare or unusual... just the fact that West Texas is a beer wasteland in general. Friendly staff. All beer is cooled, which is a plus. Prices are obscenely high, but not that much higher than other area liquor stores. Still expect to pay $10 for a 6-pack of Sam Adams, and $8 for a Rogue bomber. I probably paid more per ounce at this store than any other place outside of Sweden. However, if you’re looking for good beer in the area, this is the place to go.“

“Glad to see this brewery open again. They specialize in steaks and beer-welcome to Texas. The usual style ranges of beer-light to IPA. I had the Rye Pale Ale which was a nice 6.9% ABV beer. Food was excellent as was the service at the bar.“

“Enjoyable Atmosphere, very good pool tables, shuffleboard, and darts. Good Selection of beers on tap, but, as others have sated, too many macro brews. The mug club is a nice little touch, as is NTN trivial. Overall, the best place in Lubbock to have a beer.“

“Across the street from the late Hub City Brewing and the yet to be opened Triple T Chophouse and Brew Co. Decent selection of Brittish beers. Although the taps are common, bottles include some high quality stuff such as Samuel Smiths Imp Stout, Fullers 1845 and London Porter, Old Peculiar, Mackeson’s . Barwenches were friendly too. Saved this trip out to visit Hub City brewing from being a bust.“

“A pleasent surprise for sure. I was in for a quiet lunch hopur and the waitress was fine. Not much to look at and the food was good but not stellar. But I am giving high Overall marks for their fantstic beer. Everytrhing I tasted was spot on for the style and the winterFest that I had was fantastic. BTW, they won best small Brewpub at GABF a coupla years ago and it shows in their beers.“

“Well, what can you really expect in Lubbock? I agree that the lights were too far up. Selection not as bad as suggested- this is West Texas after all. There is now way the can match Gman in Austin- unfair comparison. Service was okey-dokey with cute co-eds.“

“Cricket’s has about 75-80 beers on tap, similar to the Ginger Man in Austin that I frequent. However, the difference in selection is absolutely night and day. Whereas the Ginger Man has a carefully hand picked tap roster devoid of macro swill (except for one token exception), Cricket’s is almost the opposite: it appears that they’ve had to fill their tap handles with every variety of every common macro out there. Also, they still had Anchor Old Foghorn on tap in the middle of the summer! The Foghorn, being a barleywine, fared well, but with this little attention paid to rotation I can see why others have noted freshness issues. It was mid-day when we went, so not much of a crowd, but it did strike me that the place was too brightly lit. This became apparent as we were drinking mostly stronger beers which my friend couldn’t get back home in Amarillo, so the buzz kicked in pretty quickly for the both of us. The light may not be too distracting on that first beer or two, but once the pupils get to dilating it’s definitely a buzzkill. Overall though, a nice little bar in a nice little neighborhood, definitely a beer oasis in an area of the country where you wouldn’t expect to find anything half as good.“

“ReRate-I was here in March 05 and i must say that this place has some very good brews. Some are a miss though. Very cool atmosphere and frienldy staff/brewers. a brewpub in the middle of a dry county-how impressive. Well, i visited this place in May of 2003 and i have to say, i was impressed. I had a pale ale with a great spicy bbq cheeseburger-went very well together. the place is very nice inside-lots of TT people there. Not bad for a podunk hick city in the texas panhandle.“
