“Another destination on the Veteran's Day crawl. Nice spacious outdoor location, but it was raining. Plenty of taps of smoothies to choose from and some from Nosh project too (classis styles). Service was very attentive and helpful. Inside is like being shoehorned in and on this day, they had overly heated overhead exhaust. MrsSHIG doesn't like that, so I had to chug and go.“

“Neat little place just outside historic Fort Monroe and right on the water. They have a nice informal tasting room in a warehouse industrial building that houses the brewery. Some outside seating on picnic tables with nice views of the bay. Great backstory about a Captain who (likely under the influence of some sort of alcohol) saw a strange large eyed bird near here that was later dubbed as an oozlefinch. Good selection of beers and they seem to like to experiment. They had several IPAs and several sour selections.“

“Allrighty, this is a pretty cool space. We arrived well after dark so I missed out on what I understand is a really neat area outside. The brewery itself is tucked into a quite area; old military buildings. One of our party used to work there when it was military. Rely on your GPS, cause its not obvious that you are even on public roads at times, but you will get there. The space itself is fairly large, but a lot of it is devoted to brewing, which is not a bad thing. Open and airy. Bar in front, some tables around. A row of bar stools in the hallway to the bathroom which helps with crowds but is a bit logistically inconvenient. This place was hopping on a Thursday night. Like packed full hopping. Food truck out front was basically a source of cheese poured on anything you could think of. Space for a band, but they were booming canned musing this night. It was still pretty loud; we ended up moving to the bathroom hallway bar to get out of the line of sight of the speakers.

I think they actually had 14 taps, but about 11 were operational when we were there. The do flights, but you can also just order 5 oz pours of whatever you are interested in; prices vary a bit by beer but are around $2 for a 5 oz pour. Service was solid; hopefully Braudog’s experience was more of a teething pain. I was not hugely impressed with the beers I tried, but nothing was bad, and the Dry Stout and IPA were solid enough.“

“Newly opened, renovated space on a closed but very historic and scenic military installation (Fort Monroe), which is slowly turning into a renewed area of Hampton Roads, with limitless potential. In good weather, this is a great venue, with good outdoor space. Inside, they didn’t leave much room for seating or standing, with a long bar but a seating area that’s only about 10 feet deep. The night we finally were able to visit, it was packed, and they had a middling cover band playing WAY too loudly right at the corner of the bar. There were a couple food trucks outside, but cold weather had moved in, so all that was outside was trashy remnants of what was probably a busy midday crowd. We sampled 4 of maybe 8 beers they had available ... a couple on their board were already tapped. None were extraordinary, but none had technical flaws either. IMHO, they’re aiming for a lofty impression with a product that’s not all that lofty. But they’re uber-popular in their first month. Will definitely revisit, hopefully sometime when I don’t have to listen to bad pop songs so loud I can’t talk to the bartender. Then again, the bartender barely seemed to give a shit. Brewery #773. UPDATE: Oozle is starting to charge higher and higher prices for the house drafts, ranging $7-9 for 16 oz (including tax). The beers are good, but not THAT good, and there is certainly a couple other places within 20 minutes’ drive that are much better and more sanely priced. Might explain why the crowd sizes are dwindling. The service remains plain awful, too.“
