“Located on the other side of the river and upstream from Smoketown. This is a tourist destination for sure. Absolutely jammed to the gills on a summer Saturday. Families and kids galore. I had heard the views were spectacular, but didin't really get to see any. Beers were weak and watery, service slow. Plastic cups. Some food, but lines for that too. Couldn't wait to get out of there.“

“Located in the countryside down a side road, this place sits among a few houses. Nice lawn out front. Inside has kind of a hunting lodge vibe with some farm accents too. Long bar and several high tables. No food. About 10 taps. Good service. Beer was average at best.“

“I have some in-laws that live in Round Hill, otherwise this would have been pretty out of the way - in the hinterlands of the DC metro area - industrial park brewery - metal-themed, which I knew going in, but is a little weird for this area - their focus is clearly packaging and distribution, as this is mostly a bar dumped into a garage - quite a few beers on tap, but they focus on literally 3 styles (quick sours, ipas, and imperial stouts), so if you’re looking for variety, you won’t find it here - if you’re not into any of these styles, you should probably not bother coming (though I supposed there is something to be said for knowing your lane and staying in it) - I focused on the stouts on my visits and they were mostly good (though none were great) - service was good - quite a few canned beers to go, but nothing I could not also find at the Total Wine in Leesburg, so the to-go beer isn’t a reason to stop - overall glad I came, as this was Virginia bucket list brewery for me - will likely stop next time I visit - I would not make a special trip for it.“

“Nothing much to look at as it is surrounded by the working brewery and a dusty parking lot, and the inside is a bit disorganized as well. But the beeer....wow! This is the draw. A lot of taps plus can pours made for a huge selection, mostly with real high ABVs. There was also a stack of beers that they were trying to sell fast, so you could put together a four pack for only $10. A great deal indeed. Well worth the visit.“

“Not much to look at from the outside, looks kind of like an old barn with a lot of smokers out front. Inside was neat and clean with a variety of seating options. Solid tap list reflects regional craft. The food is what you come for though, the BBQ was out of this world, and each of the sides we had was amazing. I'd go back here in a heartbeat.“

“A very industrial location and door, fans of Reaver Beach In VAB will feel at home. Parking is a challenge, the beers are incredible I have yet to have a beer from them I don’t like. Well worth a visit, the beers are great and the staff helpful.“

“Visited on a Wednesday afternoon and it was quiet. The big draw here is the outdoor seating high on a bluff overlooking the Potomac River. Otherwise there’s not much to recommend it. The beers were just okay as was the food truck pulled pork.“

“Harpers Ferry is a unique destination ... historically interesting, naturally beautiful. This brewery snagged an ideal location on the Virginia side of one of the bridges with a stunning outdoor seating area overlooking on of the rivers. The barn-like tasting room is also tastefully appointed. They had about 10 offerings on tap. Unfortunately we could only have two ... one very good, the other average. Staff was prompt, polite and helpful. Would love to sit out on that lawn and sip some beers again sometime! Brewery #886.“

“The brewery is in a huge barn-like building at the top of a mountain overlooking the town of Harpers Ferry. The views and the outside seating area is awesome. The beers were average. They sometimes have food trucks, but there was none on the night we visited. They had a couple of dozen taps, but not very many beers. Worth a stop for the view alone, but wish the beer was better.“

“Great taproom and brewery. Fairly small place with a great beer selection. They do some really amazing barrel aged stouts and quads. Several beers I tried were in the 11-13% abv range and were as smooth as something with half that gravity. Really creative and delicious beer offerings. There are several food options nearby. Absolutely worth a visit - one of my favorites in VA so far.“

“Small tasting room with limited food options at the end of a modern strip mall. The beers were all pretty decent; about a dozen or so on tap. Food consisted mainly of naan bread pizzas. Modern décor, but comfortable enough. Worth a stop if your in the area (and one of the only breweries I found open in this area on a Tuesday night).“

“Set in what seems like a very recent suburban, commercial development zone, this place clearly demanded a great deal of investment. It's a tad "glitzy" yet tries to evoke a humble character. I perceived a minimalist vibe. There's a very, very limited menu of mediocre food. The beers were OK, but nothing really stood out, either. I was mostly put off a bit by the atmosphere ... just a bit presumptive, IMHO. Brewery #811.“

“Visited with a group on a sunny, Saturday evening. This place screams "industrial" in every way. In a barely-redone warehouse space and a heavy metal identity, this isn't a family comfort zone. They seem to offer up some edgy beers, but of their offerings, several were just slight variations of each other. The service was prompt if a bit aloof. No food truck, no bottle sales. Opinions can vary greatly here -- if you want a nice atmosphere and some solid, but maybe center-of-the-scale beers, then go to Old 690. If you think you might discover some unique creation, then go here. IMHO their "unique creations" were enjoyable but not as unique as they think they are. But a worthy visit. Brewery #810.“

“This a beautiful setting, with a rural country feel not that far from the hustle and bustle of the far western edge of the DC metro area. We visited on a gorgeous late summer afternoon and enjoyed the nice outdoor seating, with a nice, tree-filled view. The couple beers we tried were all pretty good, without trying too hard. There was a food truck with some decent bites. A bit of a drive, but worth it! Brewery #809.“

“It seemed like a typical cart brewery in appearance, rough warehouse space with taps, and tables. But then I was there in the daytime, when the intense music maybe didn’t work so well. There was a huge manifesto on the wall, which I guess proclaimed their hipness. I would have like real bike parking and better signage from the W&OD trail - that is a missed opportunity. There is a large selection - 20 beers on tap. None IPA’s which has to earn points. Pricing seemed typical, service was fine, the beers I tried were good. Definitely a place to go if you are looking for some creative offerings.“

“I really enjoyed this place. Has a HUGE selection of beers, anywhere from 20-24 taps plus a variety of bottles. They certainly have a hard rock and punk theme going on. The selection of beers is incredible here. They certainly do some weird and crazy things here. No limit to their creativity which is really nice for a change. Lots of barrel aged stuff which is cool. Only one beer was below 5%, minimum is 7% with many hovering around 10%. No food but you can bring your own in. They have a large patio with seats and several huge canopies for shade. Dog friendly but they must stay outside.“

“Fun place. 25+ beers on tap and all of them are interesting, and high alcohol. Rather than just making another boring pale ale these guys do barrel this / spice that INTERESTING beers. Bar was a little crowded but the patio was nice.“

“A small joint at the end of a strip mall. Decor is well done and invites people in and wants them to hang out and enjoy some beer. The brewing operation is at the back of the brewpub so you can see what is going on. They are closed Tuesday’s so my guess is most of the brewing gets done at that time. Didn’t have any of the food but it looked good and interesting, the pictures on the website look amazon. Nothing spectacular but certainly some good hearty food to go with your beer. They don’t have a huge selection of tabs but it would appear they rotate them often with special and limited back releases in addition to their standard far.“

“Nice little spot for some BBQ in Purcellville. Not the best BBQ I have had but certainly worth the stop. Rather large selection of local beer for how small the place is. I believe there was only one, if any national distributed brands so they are really trying to keep it local which is nice. Hit Belly Love just down the street and then come here for some food afterwards.“

“The beer is really interesting. This place is throwing everything they can think of at every beer, which is fun to watch/drink -- if you don’t mind the corresponding price points. (That said, I’m curious what they could do with some more conventional challenges, say a pils. Nothing fancy, just a good pils.) But: This should be a more delightful place to drink than it is. The parking lot is very dusty, and if you sit outside you’re going to get dusty too. The logo is the vibe: The heavy metal music is much, much louder than is necessary. But the bartenders are up on the beers (all 20ish) and are helpful. The tweaks they need to make are minor. I bet they figure it out....“

“Stop #3 on our W&OD bike and beer ride. Wow, if I lived close to this place, I would be in serious trouble. 23 beers on tap - all available in 3oz pours to boot. I asked for every single one and the bartender said, they are all over 8%! Came on a rainy Saturday - busy, but the bartender(s) gave us great service. The let us buy our bottles, and put them aside to the next day for someone to pick up for us (bonus points there!). A definite stop and I can’t wait to get back here.“

“Authentic. Nano brewery that is all about the beer. Phenomenal beer served out of garage doors facing a gravel parking lot filled with construction equipment. The inside is actually nicely done with clean industrial looking decor, outdoor seating is limited but comfortable. It will take an hour each way but I will return.“

“Out in the country in a beautiful setting, barn-like building with huge outdoor space for sitting, cornhole, etc. Came on July 4th, and they opened a little early for us. Staff could not have been friendlier. Beers were average. They were having some water issue with the county, so no running water at the time, meaning beers served in plastic cups. Only temporary situation, apparently. They are moving to another in a couple months, hopefully will keep the country setting and charm. Worth checking out.“

“Metallica meets brewery. Expect loud metal music with an interesting mix of people. 24 beers on tap, mostly high ABV experimentals. Found a few real gems in the flight of all 24 (minus the BLVCK Celebration, more on that below). Service was very good. Definitely a destination, bring friends or a DD. As for the BLVCK Celebration, I had a personal battle with a 1/2 keg at Spacebar, and eventually killed it, though I would be hesitant to call myself the victor after drinking so many pints of an expensive beer I grew to loathe. So I took the keg label back from whence it came, and the confused assistant manager heard my story of whoa and duly accepted the label without giving me any guff. Bonus points for that.“

“Small brewpub located in a shopping plaza, plenty of free parking. Half lounge half brewpub sort of atmosphere. Okay service. 7 house beers on draft with some interesting names. Beers were average to good. Food menu looked interesting but didn’t try anything. Probably wouldn’t go out of my way if this were my only stop but worth a visit as part of a Loudoun County or Purcellville brewery tour.

Returned in September 2015 showing a California friend around Loudoun County breweries. Not much else to add to my previous review but tried some food this time, just the tot nachos which were tasty but the tots were definitely not house made. Food is made to order with the menu created by a caterer, took a little time to get to the table so not sure if the kitchen is on-site or in a neighboring business.“

“Very cool place. They were playing live bluegrass on the Saturday afternoon when I walked in here with the lady friend. 11 beers on tap for $17 a flight. A lot of variety in these as well, which I’m sure will keep growing. The place is literally at the end of a dirt road past some wineries. Cool. Some hops bines out back. Neat loghouse type look inside and great patio in the summer, though the music was so good I stayed inside. The beers were ok, but mostly this place was cool for the ambiance.“

“Not a bad place, seems like it’s getting better from previous reviews. The ambiance was really cool with the Buddhas and cool Thai-market looking stuff. There were 7 beers on tap on my visit, so looks like their repertoire is growing. The beers were ok, with a couple good ones (the stout and DIPA). Didn’t eat here but the menu looked good. Nice outdoor patio with a few seats in an odd looking store walkway. Neat little town too. Worth a visit.“

Ambiance: Industrial park, lots of parking. Inside is a biker wannabe death metal combo, but they seem to really go after the gonzo metal stuff wholeheartedly. They seem to take the whole aesthetic extremely seriously, and are true to their schtick. Service: Great. Came on a Saturday with snow threatening, so not too busy. Bartender was attentive and not pushy, but extremely knowledgeable. Gave a couple of free 3 oz pours, too! Selection: They had about seven taps, with a few others kicked. A handful of bottles for sale too. What they did have ran the gamut. This place only does one-offs, seemingly, with some of the individual beers barrel-aged for variety. That makes for a different experience every time you come. Had several beers that were very good, and bought a bottle to bring home that turned out to be one of the top 20 beers I’ve ever had. Food: N/A. Value: Reasonable, given the quality and complexity (clearly indicative of labor-intensive efforts) of the brews. They sell their glassware, and the small sampler glasses are a great purchase. Overall: Worth a visit for the experience.“

“Visited here once after Adroit Theory. Kind of a Texas theme, sizable dining area in the front section with a small bar in the back right corner. Service was friendly and fairly prompt.

Draft selection is a mix of macro and micro, the latter which is mostly local VA beers and a few from around the states.

Food includes BBQ, Tex-Mex, burgers/sandwiches. Brisket was tasty but maybe a bit dry. A bit pricey like most BBQ places, go for a full platter if ordering BBQ as it’s a bit better value.

Okay stop for a pre/post-game meal combined with the local breweries. For beer, there’s nothing you can’t really find elsewhere but it’s at least serviceable for something to go with your meal.“

“We visited after sampling Old 690 Brewing in Hamilton, which is a family-friendly venue in a bucolic setting. By contrast, Adroit Theory is in a light industrial park with bikerr/heavy metal vibe. It definitely has a unique atmosphere, and the beers seemed much more inventive. I liked this place.“

“A hip hangout for locals in a large industrial space. The brewery, however, is tiny and thus experimentation of beers leads the way here. Twelve beers available on tap to drink on site although none were below 7.5% so make of that what you will. Beers were solid enough but thank goodness for the 3oz pours are the beers are heavy going. Bottles available for takeaway but pricey. We had a great bartender who couldn’t be more enthusiastic working in a brewery. Bustlin’ Saturday crowd. Nice to visit.“

“A very sound tasting of eleven beers on tap the day we stopped by. This is located out in the countryside so a real nice setting and on a warm day it’s great to nab a seat outside. Food is smoky BBQ truck (I believe these are now mandatory outside every brewery in the world). The brewkit can be seen out back, and they’re expanding with a couple of new tanks in the next week or so. Friendly owner. Enjoyable.“

“Nice rural place at the end of a dirt road with some pretty classy houses nearby. We were greeted by the smoke and aroma from a BBQ food truck. The outdoor fire pit was roaring, so that made a good place to sit and chill, even though it was a warm sunny day. Inside there’s a long bar and some high tables. Small brewhouse visible through glass. Very friendly owner. The beers were mostly solid, with a few even better and just one dud. Worth the very short drive from Corcoran or Adroit.“

“In the back of an industrial area, the crowded and kid friendly bar is decent sized and very local. Lots of beers on tap and tasters of each available. Service was decent, but so busy that they didn’t spend too much time with us. Decent place but the beer wasn’t that great for me.“

“I think they had only been open for just under a month when I visited them. Place is in a classy looking strip mall, actually it kind of has the same feel as the Leesburg Outlets (on a much smaller scale). Only 4 beers were available, they ranged mostly in the okay category, with the stout being the standout beer. Located in downtown Purcellville, it’s about 5 minutes from both Corcoran and Adroit, so worth a stop. As they mature, I’ll update my rating on further visits.“

“Strip mall, albeit a nice one. Kind of centerish in the back. Lots of parking. Empty on a Saturday near noon. Interesting vibe with sputnik light fixtures, couches, tables of various types, a long bar, club music. 4 beers available at our visit and lots of more taps so they have room to grow. Flight of four was reasonable and there were five spots on the flight board so maybe that’s the eventual goal. Beers varied in quality, some with serious flaws and a decent stout but all need work. Talk of barrel aging already which is a troubling sign before they dial in the recipes. Nice enough staff. Food menu but I saw no kitchen so I suspect the food comes from a neighboring business.“

“Large and cavernous, we sat at the front in a place that stretched quite a ways up and back. The mill ambiance is correct, with equipment used as decor. Staff was nice and adequate. Upscale feel but the prices were solid on food and the food was decent. Nice beer list including lots of local beers and a nice selection. Of the four beers we requested none were out of stock. 3 x 5ish ounce flight for $7 and while there is a $1 upcharge for some, I should have been hit with that and I was not. Overall a good place in an up and coming beer town.“

“I wanted to like this place because if its name. It was hard to find because the small strip mall it’s in is set back from the road quite a bit, but trust your GPS and pull in to the shopping mall, then park around back. The tasting room is modern, the music was thump-thump, pretty odd for a brewpub. They are brewing on Corcoran’s old system (1 barrel? Maybe 1.5), visible as you hit the restroom. Fours beers available as a flight or pints. All need work, but the oatmeal stout was OK. They had a food menu, but we did not partake. Is was a bit worrisome that they already have some beers in barrels, before they’ve perfected the recipes. Worth keep an eye on, though, and I’ll return to see if they’ve worked out some of the kinks.“
