78 /100 TAUTRA Ahh, this is a historic excursion! First you pass by Frostating, the site of a Norwegian court dating back to the Viking era. The nearby church is from the 1500’s and at Evenhus there are 4000 years old rock carvings. After these attractions, you drive over to the Tautra Island. At Klostergården (Monastery farm) there are several old wooden buildings and a modern one where the bottle shop is. In addition to beer, they sell other farm products and flowers. I visited a Sunday and the shop was closed. The restaurant was open and of course the pub, which is an integrated part of the restaurant. Serving area in two adjacent buildings. A really nice place! 6 beers on tap and more bottles in the fridge. Klostergården also offers accommodation. Maybe next time? The ruins of the monastery from the 1200’s is right behind the restaurant. Only five minutes away by car, there is a modern monastery, Tautra Mariakloster. The Tautra Island is really an unique place in Norway. (Visited July 16th 2017) |
74 /100 TAUTRA A place certainly worth a detour. There’s ruins of an old monestary next to the farm where the brewery, brewery store and restaurant is located, and the beers are becoming very fine. The brewery store have one or more of their own beers on tap, and are stocked up with other stuff as well, both of the eadible kind and other things you might not feel the need for. Got very friendly service and also a tour of the little brewery placed in the basement below the shop. Hope to come back here some time. |
