Knut Bye Kolonial (Grocery Store)
SKAGVEIEN 1
“Another surprise in Vardø! Knut Bye Kolonial is an independent grocery store. That is not common anymore here in Norway. In Vadsø I only found one bottle from Qvænbrygg, here they had the full range! Also decent beer selection from Norway and abroad. Very nice selection in the very outskirts of Europe. Fresh food counter as well. (Visited July 21st 2020)“

“Every small town in Norway has a Chinese or Thai restaurant. But, I have never seen such a beer menu before! Country ticks from many Asian countries. No modern hipster craft breweries and hardly any new ones for me, but lots of good beers from England, Germany, Belgium, Norway and many more countries. Beer menu over two pages. I had an alcohol free beer from Germany to my thai food with fresh, local fish. Nice. Friendly service. A must visit! (Visited July 21st 2020)“

“Surprise find in Vardø. Thai restaurant with one of the best bottle selections in Norway. Tons of well selected german beers and 23 other nations. Had my first beer from The Domenican Republic here. Even a small Biergarten. Very knowledgeable landlord.“

“Surprise find in Vardø. Close to the Hurtigruta docking. Old nicely refurbished house with an interior like a local museum with town related items all over. Limited selection of beers but they had the full range from Qvenbrygg on bottle. Kitchen with light dishes and pizzas. Nice knowledgeable landlord.“

“A trip to Vardø is not complete until a visit to one of the best pubs in Norway. Nordpol Kro has long history going back to the late 19th century. A modern, dark lit, and perfectly decorate pub today serving excellent pizza and promoting a friendly and welcome atmosphere. Unfortunately, the beer menu is limited to Kilkenny, a Beck and Mack on taps and cans from Mack, including an IPA and a Porter. A long corridor with a live stage to the left of the entrance and the bar section to the right. Situated in Vestervågen close to Vardø Hotel and the House of Culture. As usual a great pleasure to visit the pub together with friends on 26.04.2018.“
