| 50 /100 ON THE ROAD UP TO HIDA NO SATO FOLK VILLAGE “Some big changes here. Now it goes by “Hida Craft Beer” or “地ビール飛騨”, and the restaurant is closed. All their bottles are available for drink in or take out, and you can bring food in if you like. It seemed that there were some croquettes made with local Hida beef available. A good stop if you have a car, otherwise not worth a special trip when you can get the beers all over town.“ |
| 76 /100 EvilTex (Restaurant) 06-19 HANASATOMACHI “Takayama is short of good beer but this burger/mex joint has a small but well chosen selection of West Coast inspired canned PA/IPA from Ballast Point, Oscar Blues and Coronado together with the local Takayama Pale Ale. Just what the doctor ordered! Burgers excellent as well. 800Y per can. Soundtrack excellent.“ |

Some souvenir/sake shops do have some Japanese micros, but when it comes to bars I couldn’t find any with at least a couple of craft brews. Even my favorite bar Desolation Row had only macros. We went for a burger, turns out this place is very popular and reservation is needed. So we made a reservation and came back in couple of hours. C4H is located in the back and to enter you have to pass through some kind of antique/souvenir shop, quite unusual. There is a sign outside, otherwise it would be impossible to find it. I was surprised to see around 10 bottles of craft beer - Coedo, Ballast point, Green Flash, Lagunitas, Denver Beer Company (OK not all of them really craft). Looking at the empty bottles it seems that someone there values good beer. Food and service were good. So nothing spectacular, but I was unable to find something better in Takayama.“ |

You can buy the beers in the city, so unless you have a specific reason to visit the brewery, don’t go there. It’s not a bad place... just not speciel. The service was fine. Selection (5 beers on RateBeer - 2 seasonals) so 4 on tap, the same amount in town - is that a good or bad selection ? Food - they had food.“ |
