I saw this on the map a while back and decided that I had to check it out. A BBQ place that serves good beer? Sure, why not. It was really more of a BBQ tick than a place or a beer tick. The beer list is kind of sad here. Three taps going: Sierra Nevada Pale, Pyramid "Hefe", and Firestone 805. But wait, they also have a bottle list: Bud, Corona, Coors, Sam Adams (presumably Boston Lager), Stella, Mikes Hard Lemonade, and Sierra Nevada Torpedo. I went with the Sierra pale on draft since I hadn’t had one of those in quite a while. It was probably a few months old so it certainly wasn’t in it’s prime but the bitter pale was nice with my tri tip sandwich.

The food is pretty good here. It’s a little plain, which shouldn’t be a complaint since it’s BBQ but if you’re going to charge $7.30 for a sandwich (no sides, no drink) then it should be more than just a sandwich. I’m all about plain old fashioned BBQ, but I’m also a fan of that being cheap as it’s supposed to be but restaurants these days have turned it into a delicacy and charge premium prices. Screw that. All that said the meat was quite good. It might have been a tad over cooked but that’s unavoidable when you smoke it all day, but it was still tender. It had lots of pepper flavor and had some heat. In retrospect I should have just ordered the meat plate without the bread and gotten the extra 2oz of meat. The sauces are interesting too. The "spicy" and the "smoked jalapeno" sauces were the best. The honey sauce made with the 805 was nice but in my opinion the smoked jalapeno sauce worked best with the meat.

The service was very friendly. The prices were high. The beer selection is bad. The map here shows the correct location but the Google map is wrong, so be warned. I’d probably stop back in to grab a sandwich but I won’t be making this a beer destination.“
