68 /100 1616 J ST Medium size space, 12 own beers and some guests on tap when I called; good food; beer varies between decent and amateur. Flights of 4 available. Plus for staying open later, when most other places are closed. |
84 /100 1431 I ST SACRAMENTO Good place for good food and beer |
58 /100 6900 AIRPORT BLVD Located in the A gates. Big U shaped bar and a large restaurant area, didn't try the food.
14 taps and about the same amount of bottle/can list. A few local beers. Only 2 new brews for me, but they were out of one of them.
Airport prices. Service was decent. |
76 /100 1730 BROADWAY 18 beers on tap. Very nice selection. Above average quality. I like the space near downtown Sacramento. Big windows. Friendly staff. They have a quite good hazy. Flight of 4 for $12 I think, or pints for $7. Worth a visit, if you are in the area. |
72 /100 4339 AUBURN BLVD B 19 beers on tap. Easy parking. Nice decor. Wide range of easy drinking styles. Quality was pretty low, but I really liked the Hefeweizen. I think they underhop the beers, or have to oxygen. Only the Hefeweizen could withstand the abuse. I like the place, and the theme, they just need to up there brewing game. |
86 /100 1805 CAPITOL AVE I love all the fieldwork locations, and the Sacramento location is no exception. 25 beers on tap. Virtually every table has a pizza on it. Great beers. $3/5oz taster. |
58 /100 BevMo Midtown (Beer Store) 1700 J ST Somewhat standard BevMo: everything in large format, so I don’t buy anything. A little light on locals. Interesting business model: they turned half the store into a grocery store. |
78 /100 2004 CAPITOL AVE 12 beers on tap of easy drinking styles. A couple of nice saisons, and a wide range of styles. $12 for a flight of 4. Good prices compared to Bay Area. Super friendly staff. Full menu. Almost more of a restaurant than a brewpub. The $8 soup I got was very good. Recommended. 3.9 |
72 /100 Kupros Craft House (Restaurant) 1217 21ST ST Nice pub in downtown Sacramento. Around 24 cans and 16 taps. Pretty good selection. Close to many other breweries. Nice. Opens at 4PM. |
78 /100 1510 16TH ST, SUITE 300 Nice beer bar in downtown Sacramento. 40ish beers on tap. Lots of ciders and a wide variety of styles. $4.5/half, $9 full pint. Happy hour 3-6. Very good. I didn’t see any cans. |
72 /100 Bawk! (Restaurant) 1409 R STREET, SUITE 102 Visited April 2022.
Just a few blocks away from Urban Roots (and owned by the same group) and not too far from University of Beer. Also right next to Ace of Spaces which is a half decent concert venue. This place is a restaurant that focuses on fried chicken/hot chicken as well as some craft beers from Urban Roots and a full bar.
A very modern design to the interior a mix of exposed brick and mural-style paintings. The floor has faux graffiti all over it. I took a seat at a table inside to have something to eat and watch some of the Warriors/Kings game.
The food here wasn't bad, definitely above average for fried chicken and pretty decent hot chicken. I got the hottest one and it was pretty spicy, but not unbearable. I do like very spicy food, though. The chicken was moist and well cooked. I wasn't a huge fan of the bread the sandwich came on, though.
Prices are reasonable enough as you're looking at like $15 or so for a sandwich and fries. Beers are $7-8. Certainly not cheap, but not horrendously expensive.
Very friendly and quick service from the staff here, too.
I would come back for sure, but it wasn't so amazing that I am making it a must stop on any Sacramento trip. As far as the actual rating, it's limited a bit by the beer selection goes as you only get a subset of the beers that are available at Urban Roots down the street. |
78 /100 1322 V ST Really solid spot near downtown Sac. Trendy place, with a large patio in front and plenty of inside seating in their warehouse-like interior. Order up at the bar -- 5 oz pours available of all beers. They do plenty of IPAs (mostly west coasts), and a tons of saisons and sours. I got a flight of 6 beers -- mostly the saisons and (BA) sours. Pretty expensive, as they charge a lot for the sours. Beer quality was very high though, with a west coast IPA and a couple of saisons being standouts. Really good spot and worth hitting when in Sac. |
84 /100 1322 V ST Another place I have visited a number of times since they first opened.
Really big space with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Huge bar with plenty of seating (well, before COVID, anyway) as well and where you can order beers.
They do a bit of everything in terms of beer styles, but I think their lagers, saisons, and barleywines/strong ales are probably their best/strengths. They mostly have their own beers, but do usually have some guest offerings as well as non-beer options like wine. The food is also pretty good. It's BBQ, but it's definitely a place that's good by California BBQ standards and not something that would be worth mentioning in like North Carolina.
Due to the layout and ordering systems, it can get a bit backed up during special events or just super busy times. That is not really unique to this place, however.
Overall, a great addition to the Sacramento area and Northern California beer scene in general. |
68 /100 1689 ARDEN WAY Good service - decent beer selection - good food |
86 /100 The Shack (Restaurant) 5201 FOLSOM BLVD Classic diner with great food and an excellent beer selection. Absolutely wonderful place. |
78 /100 Federalist Public House (Bar) 2009 MATSUI ALLEY Minimalist place built out of containers with communal wooden tables, cheerfully atmosphere and service. Allways changing interesting tap list, food looks really good though I didn't. Nice place in a nice city. |
76 /100 1716 L ST Pleasant modern place, very good choice of beer, attentive knowledgeable service, nice place to linger. |
78 /100 1825 I STREET Long and narrow with a large brew kit up front. Mixed color scheme with lots of khaki and OD. Chair seating with wood table tops. 8 taps. 4 small pours for $10. Street parking, but I scored a half block away. Sizeable patio. Knowledgeable service. Free Wi-Fi. Good place. Note: By the time I got out it was turning into a local. |
74 /100 The Bank (Restaurant) 629 J STREET It's a huge near century old bank building - can't use main doors because they aren't ADA compliant. Downstairs is the multi-beer bar - which uses cards to access the beers. Drop credit card in exchange for beer card - choice of 4 sizes on each tap. Main floor is the food court with very excellent and tasty food. Decor is marble with fantastic old ceiling. The vault is accessible in the basement bar. Parking? None, and being near the stadium the public lots are not inexpensive. Fun place tho, and street parking is usually available several blocks away. |
64 /100 Sports Corner Cafe (Bar) 1030 2ND ST Located in the historic tourist trap district I visited with a large group on an excursion from a business conference. Had some free time I used to walk around. Popped into here for a beer. Pleasant, okay. Small but decent selection. |
98 /100 1805 CAPITOL AVE Impressed with this spot! Great vibe and music...customer service was fantastic...felt very taken care off. Selection of brews was very high quality. Nice place and will return! The only negative is that their beer is limited in it's availability in cans to-go. Hopefully as they grow, more cans will be available... |
84 /100 1322 V ST Great food and good beers! Vibe is decent with good music and people wanting to enjoy good food and beer. Customer service is decent, but gets a little difficult with crowds and loudness of general atmosphere. Would be a 5 out of 5 if it wasn't as loud and their selection was also available to go and in crowlers. They have gotten much better with their selection and growth in beer, so i am holding out hope that they will continue to improve.
|
72 /100 1022 2ND ST Very upscale/modern interior at a location in the Old Sacramento tourist trap area. Service was a bit wonky, but adequate. No errors, just a bit strange. Like the modern equivalent of hippies? Anyway the beer is decent, and the food is very good indeed. They aren't validating parking yet. |
94 /100 8251 ALPINE AVE This by far my favorite brewery in the Sac area! I have been impressed with their selection of IPA's and their willingness to try new things. I feel so blessed having them local so I can get their beer fresh. There is nothing like their lineup of Soaked, Dripping Wet, and Washed Out when it is freshly canned! Customer service is great...knowledgeable and patient. Willing to allow you to sample whatever you want...The space is a little tight but is cozy with an outdoor sitting area if that is what your feeling. Keep up the good work New Glory!!! |
78 /100 2004 CAPITOL AVE Word is the Rubicon chief brewer is in the brewing area! Area is thoroughly redecorated, though the layout is about the same. Sad, no 4 oz pours for ticking. Food is a bit heading for awesome/trendy. Service was over the top. Beers very good, but oriented for food pairing. Waiting for spectacular, over the top beers. |
70 /100 3747 W PACIFIC AVE, STE F Visited early evening on a Wednesday. Located in an area with warehouse and machines. The building is a plain, cinder block connected to a row of buildings. Was a bit difficult to wind around to the building, but following google maps got me there. Bare bones, order at the bar, sit at wooden picnic tables. Good music playing, friendly service. Beer selection is 9 beers, available as pint, ½ pint, growler and half growler. 70 = **½ (Locals should check it out, visitors with extended time) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
88 /100 2222 FAIR OAKS BLVD Visited after work on a Wednesday. Located in a newer strip mall with a large Safeway and an interiror courtyard area where Capitol Beer and Tap is located. I parked on the Fair Oaks Blvd side of the building, and there seemed to be easier parking on that side. Three areas, narrow room with the bar and draft, narrow bottle shop, and a large patio area. Bar has 21 beers on draft, available as full or 5 oz pours. Selections with well chosen locals and rare national craft. Which I would have had time to have a beer, as the list was impressive. The bottle selection is smaller, but the quality is handpicked and crazy. I had not seen Heater Allen and 3 Fonteinen on shelves in a long while. Service was superb, great conversation and recommendations. 88 = **** (best in area, a must for locals and visitors) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
50 /100 Burgers and Brew - Sacramento Airport - Term B (Restaurant) 6900 AIRPORT BLVD Order at the kiosk area. They have 5 taps with a decent list of bottles. Surprised to see Delerium, Chimay and Allagash among others. No seating there but plenty of seating in the general food court area. |
56 /100 6900 AIRPORT BLVD Located near B18. They have 20 taps and about 20 bottles. Nothing crazy, mostly AB/C stuff. Didn't eat. Airport prices, but nothing much else around. |
82 /100 1322 V ST Cool new place near downtown Sac. Big airy space with tons of tables inside and out and a long bar next to where you order your food. Got there at opening on a Friday and had our food by the time the beers were poured and sauces were gathered. Solid BBQ and sides, nice selection of 10ish beers on tap, all new with 3-4 collabs. We had a nice mix of 7 ranging from pretty good to fantastic. A touch pricy but when quality is factored in the value is still there. Will be back for sure. |
86 /100 1322 V ST Located in a business / residential neighborhood, this new brewpub is houses in an attractivelarge faciltywith indoor and outdoor seating. There are about 40 taps behind the bar with only 15 hooked up at this time. There is a large staff of young energetic barkeeps, cooks and bsckup staff. Happy music playing at an appropriate level in the backgrpund. There is a short menu (soon to be expanded) of mostly smoked meat items. The pulled pork is excellent. All the beers are of high quality. A very fun place. |
82 /100 1322 V ST Street parking. Large patio. Very large interior; modern light woods, concrete, modern tile, gray paint. Refectory style tables, booths, bar, picnic tables outside. Organized somewhat like WarPig in Copenhagen. Enter, get in line to registers; order; get electronic beeper; sit down; get beep, head to counter near register line and food is transferred from kitchen counter to you. Beer? Order at registers. Bar? Don't know. There are stools at bar, so likely. Food and beer are not cheap. However, food is exceptionally good (heavy on smoked flesh of 3 kinds), and the beer is very good as well. Service was not at the table, but everything went smoothly during lunch on a weekday. Had a little issue with on-line beer menu not showing ABV. Great place for food and beer. |
88 /100 915 BROADWAY Nice large taproom with seating and an outdoor patio. Friendly service with about 10-12 taps. Also had cans and bottles to go. Love the vibe here! Dog friendly. Small food menu served from the place next door. |
88 /100 1510 16TH ST, SUITE 300 Nice place with a long L-shaped bar and a bunch of high-tops. Outside seating also. 100 taps. Something for everyone. Digital menu - also available on your phone. Good food menu. Had the seared tuna sandwich. Yummy tater tots! Friendly service too. |
80 /100 866 57TH ST Outdoor picnic area and cozy tap room set off the street a little in east Sac. Easy to miss but worth a visit. New ownership (used to be 12 Rounds) is super friendly. Only7 taps, but got 8 beers :)
Had the best deal in town on a flight of 7 for $12 that included 2 barrel aged beers! Good quality across the board with a standout or two. Will be back. |
72 /100 1730 BROADWAY Small relaxed taproom on Broadway. Place was a bit deserted when we were here but it was shortly before closing time on a Sunday. Service was friendly. Reasonable selection of own beers plus a homemade Kombucha. Beers were decent but nothing super special, best was the Thunder Beast IPA. Prices were good. Worth a look. |
68 /100 826 PROFESSOR LN, STE 100 Big warehouse with a big tap room in one corner. A nice patio with picnic tables. Plenty of kids running around. Solid beers and decent prices. |
56 /100 Trader Joe’s - Sacramento (Folsom) (Grocery Store) 5000 FOLSOM BLVD It’s a TJ’s, but in an affluent community. Don’t think that’s reflected in the beer selection tho. Might be a smidge larger than the typical TJ’s. I found 2 new beers! So it might be. |
74 /100 1716 L ST Parking sucks, but the venue does not. 18 taps on the wall so there’s room for expansion. Brick, wood, tile and steel. We were the only customers early Friday so service was superlative. Highly recommended. |
46 /100 Burgers and Brew - Sacramento Airport - Term B (Restaurant) 6900 AIRPORT BLVD Small take out kiosk in Terminal B. Didn’t see a beer list but it seemed like it was just a few bottles. Mostly burgers and sandwiches for food. Skip it and go to Cafeteria 15L. |
62 /100 6900 AIRPORT BLVD Small restaurant/bar in Sacramento Airport’s Terminal B. Didn’t really see any other places with beer. Decent amount of beers although it was mostly the AB-owned craft breweries. Food was decent, had the sliders for a snack. Okay if you need to kill some time here. |
88 /100 2222 FAIR OAKS BLVD Visited after RateBeer Best 2017. Small taproom and beer shop in a strip mall. Very nice selection of bottles/cans for take out, especially given the small space. Small bar with a decent amount of tables. Service was friendly and helpful in both the beer shop and bar. Good variety of beers with around 20 on draft, nice representation of local breweries. 4 oz pours and full pours available. No food but you can bring your own in or order delivery. Definitely a must stop if you’re in Sacramento or nearby. |
48 /100 6900 AIRPORT BLVD Large airport venue. Some decent taps. Not a bad stop. Unlikely to get new ticks if you live in the area. Related to the Iron Horse Tavern downtown. |
76 /100 Curtis Park Market (Grocery Store) 2703 24TH ST Nice selection of beers, though the rarities seem to move very quickly. Friendly service, decent prices (not great or bad for what I bought). I was able to find one of the newbs I was looking for as they were unloading a delivery out front. Worth a visit for sure.
For what it’s worth, the 100 point review was written by the owner, who helped me that day :) |
70 /100 5861 88TH ST #800 Cool spot for a warehouse, with lots of seating, cornhole, pretzels and water sitting out for you.
Flights a touch expensive. Beer is pretty good and their 10ish taps covered several styles. Not a standout, but worth a visit. |
82 /100 Iron Horse Tavern (Restaurant) 1800 15TH STREET, SUITE B Lovely restaurant with a huge bar and ecletic menu. Patio seating is available. Good for breakfast lunch, dinner, and beyond (’yond, ’yond ’yond...) |
