70 /100 MIlwaukee Burger Company - Franklin (Restaurant) 6421 S. 27TH ST. Thought I'd stop by since there's one of these in the town I'm moving to in a week or so. Glad I did. 40-ish beers on tap, which several less common options. Some pricy pours but the great thing here is they have a pick-4 flight for $10 and they didn't bat an eye when two of my selections were higher priced. Had some curds and they were done well. Service was absent at times but good when it was present. Standalone place in a strip mall. Parking fine. Prices seemed good overall. Sports bar vibe. Worth a stop if you find yourself nearby. |
66 /100 Sendik’s Market - Franklin (Grocery Store) 5100 RAWSON AVE Typical Sendik's which means upscale grocery vibe. Larger beer selection than other locations. Small BYO section looks like it is well tended. Walk-in cooler. Good selection (nothing rare). Prices decent on the beer (maybe not so much on the other stuff). Decent stop if you are driving by. |
68 /100 Milwaukee Burger Company - Franklin (Restaurant) 6421 S. 27TH ST. A former Tumbleweeds Tex-Mex restaurant is reborn as a cavernous burger joint with 30+ TV screens. Beer selection was heavy on good choices from Wisconsin craft breweries. The crowd was enormous in the middle of a May Sunday afternoon, suggesting the beer wasteland that is southern suburban Milwaukee County may have a significant new player. |
28 /100 Pick’n Save (Beer Store) 7201 S. 76TH ST. A slight revision from my rating 18 months ago. Yes, this is still a typical suburban mid-sized grocery store with a small liquor section. And it still has has all the usual beer suspects of Miller and Bud products. But it has expanded its line of Wisconsin’s small breweries to now include not only Leinie’s, New Glarus, Lakefront, Point and Capital, but also Tyranena, Ale Asylum, Furthermore and Big Bay. Plus there’s now a six-pack building option, for a reasonable $7.99, from a limited number of those WI beers. For selection, Three Cellars located in a nearby strip center still has a better lineup. But I’ll give P&S a few style points for picking up its game. |
54 /100 8933 S 27TH ST I went here awhile back and struggled to find a beer I wanted among the 20+ on tap as they were mostly gateway beers. Service was okay, food was okay, nothing really to write home about, just another Irish bar in town, we simply have too many. |
80 /100 8933 S 27TH ST Fantastic little pub. Great happy hour. 2:00-6:00 every day. Not a large beer selection, but there are quality choices: New Belgium, New Glarus, Lakefront, and Capitol, as well as some mainstream European beers on tap. |
40 /100 Pick’n Save (Beer Store) 7201 S. 76TH ST. Another grocery store that doesn’t belong on here. Sendiks down the road is better but I recommend you head next door to Three Cellars, the best beer store on this side of town. |
60 /100 Sendik’s Market - Franklin (Grocery Store) 5100 RAWSON AVE For a grocery store, this Sendik’s has a respectable selection of mass market, craft, Wisconsin and import ales and beers. You cannot walk into the liquor department without a staff member asking if they can help you. There are at least 10 glass cooler sections devoted to beer (and nicely divided up by place of origin) and a walk-in area for cases. The selection here is definitely better than the Pick and Save grocery stores to the east and west. |
64 /100 Sendik’s Market - Franklin (Grocery Store) 5100 RAWSON AVE Local grocery store with a halfway decent liquor section. Many Wisconsin beers are available though not all of the varieties you might find at a bigger liquor store. The had a build your own section in one cooler but I wasn’t terribly impressed with the selection in that cooler. Nice selection of Belgian beers and some foreign beers. Seem to be up to date on the seasonal stuff as well. As far a grocery stores go it can’t compete with Woodman’s as far as selection but it far surpasses the joke of a liquor store at the Pick N Save by my condo (27th & College). |
58 /100 Sendik’s Market - Franklin (Grocery Store) 5100 RAWSON AVE This is a premium grocery store with a large beer selection focusing on crafts/imports. They have a cooler of mostly import bomber singles, with brands like Orval, Westmalle, Duvel, Rogue, etc. They also have a cooler of 12oz singles with a build your own six-pack feature. In addition, they have quite a bit of craft beer in multi-packs spread over several cooler doors and a large beer cave. I sampled some Tyranena beers in the store during my visit.
Sendik’s is a local premium grocery chain, and this location is their newest, and the first two open of two locations coming to Franklin. |
