Richard’s Liquors (Beer Store)
3033 8TH STREET SOUTH
“Pretty cool place on what I presume is one of the main drags in town. No rare beers that I saw, but uncommon, and a pretty large BYO selection. Prices a little high. Friendly staff. Worth a stop if in town.“

“I added this place not because of the large selection but because they had 5 pretty decent regional selections, two from Central Waters (Porter and Pale Ale), two from Point, and one from O’So (Hopdinger). Located within the top hotel in Rapids, the Hotel Mead. On the Friday night I was here, they had live music and a dance floor off of the main bar. Bartender service was outstanding. 3 nice TVs which made watching the NLCS involving the Brewers enjoyable. The Grand Ave Tavern is located in downtown Rapids and is walking distance to several other bars, including the moderately upscale Andy’s Bar, directly across the street, which has a decent beer selection as well.“

“In a town where this is the only option, It isn’t bad at all. Good selection of New Glarus and Tyranena. And a small but good selection of singles you can purchase. Midwestern brews are represented quite well here.“

Kellys Liquor Store (Beer Store)

“Updated 3/26/05. They feature most of the New Glarus beers. They did not have Raspberry Tart, but had a few bottles of Belgian Red and the new Apple Ale as well as all the other standards available in six-packs. Sierra Nevada, MacTarnahan’s, Capital, etc. 5/10/04. A diamond in the rough. Located in the heart of the State of Wisconsin in Wisconsin Rapids. Easily the best liquor store in town. They feature a make your own six-pack, where the per beer price is discounted 10% as part of the 6-pack. Pretty good selection of beer overall. Wont knock your socks off, but for a town of under 20,000 people it’s pretty good.“
