64 /100 USAMI, 3504−1 Stopped by on the road to Atami. Nice local farm atmosphere surrounded by mikan fields. They now produce about 6 kinds of beers, pretty average but drinkable. Only picked up a couple bottles but their was a yummy BBQ pit going on. Probably a much much better option for brunch in the area than the Izu Kogen beer tourist traps. |
42 /100 Ito Marine Town / Izu Kogen Beer (Restaurant) 571-19 YUKAWA Terrible tourist trap part of a popular seaside shopping mall in Izu. Theirs beers are mostly mediocre if not vile and disgusting sometimes. I probably wouldn’t even drink them again for free.. Food-wise, their kaisen-don (sahsimi rice bowl) are fairly dry, average and overpriced, you’d easily find better quality in South Tokyo for half the price... Basically one of the worst places I ever witnessed, and these guys clearly have money so why don’t they try to find an actual brewer instead of nearly poisoning poor local tourists... |
60 /100 USAMI, 3504−1 Strangely interesting place up the mountain from Usami station, on the Izu peninsula. Farm market, restaurant, beer garden, live club all rolled into one. At least 7 fermenters and 14 storing tanks for the 4 beers they make. Beers all rather average. Looks like fun on weekends for jazz shows, with ¥1500 all you can drink. Would also be nice to sit out in the garden on a lively sunny day. Not worth a special trip, but if you happen to be in the area... |
