“Right across the street from Northern Lights, deep in the suburbs, about an hours walk from the center. Large and quite modern but also a place where most people came from wine, it has that combination of trying to be upscale but being a bit cheap really. Far too clean and crisp, looks like it almost belongs to a hotel, televisions on top as well. Shame really since the taps do have definitely some interesting beers on like Lacada, The Veil, Boundary, Verdant etc. among the ubiquous macros. Even 3 beers on cask as well, had one Bullhouse and it wasn’t good with a weird glue taste so maybe you should stay away from the cask here. On top prices were slightly higher than in the center despite the location, shame, tap list looks create but wasn’t digging the rest.“

“Northern Irelands only Galway Bar. Most definitely in the suburbs and would take you maybe close to an hour walking from the city center. Calm neighborhood bar, modern glass and steel look on the outside, worn wood on the inside, new clearly but also slight beginnings of worn-down, could be bit more pretty, wood but not much character and new wood, long bar. Decent prices, about 20 taps with obviously the expected selection of Brú and Galway taking up most of it. Good beers all around and you’re in a Galway bar, Krombacher, Beer Hut and a couple of new to me local presumably beers take up the rest. It doesn’t really do much different from the other Galway bars which I have visited but there aren’t any other ones in Northern Ireland so a cool addition in that way for sure, not sure if you should go out of your way for this one. Standard menu for their bars.“

“Bit of the center but not much and chances are you will hit this neighborhood as well. Dark wood, almost chrome looking, old fashioned lamps bar, lots of space which is great. The turnover is big and feels slightly like they count of getting it done a bit quickly. Still tap selection is maybe the deepest in town for craft, Untappd verified even. Big electronic display screen. Pints and 2/3rd’s from the likes of Boundary, Magic Rock, The Veil, White Hag,… One can do no wrong with that, vegan snack platter even available, maybe not overtly personal but the tap list is great, there is plenty of space. Flights are available, so definitely a place to check out.“

“Corner bar, bricks on the outside, lots of wood inside and deep red, red ceiling and walls plus red leather, multiple elevated stages, feels equal measures small and sizeable, filled to the brim with oddities including a lot of strange painting seemingly referencing famous Irish literary figures and more, busts, plaques, and everything else. Got table service, friendly for sure. Local playing a machine at the entrance. Character for sure, feels mix of genuine and added on. Sizeable whiskey collection, beer selection aims to please all with Heineken, Coors, Guinness but also some stabs at craft, Bell’s from Deer’s Head and a house beer from there I guess? Wasn’t too impressed with that one but charming enough place to give a look, wish that beer was a bit more exciting to stick around beyond curiosity.“

“Dark green exterior, massive on the inside, lots of wood, gorgeous bar, lamps, brewery visible behind glass featuring copper, dark green benches, classical look, lovely. Bit too crowded for my feeling. Whiskey selection looked tempting for sure. Regular keg selection is right about all macro’s which is what most people were getting. They have about 10 beers on tap which seem to aim to please everyone fro lager to kettle sour, citra IPA, spiced beer, red ale etc. Tried an IPA and session IPA, eh about okay, nothing great but nothing offensive either. One was fairly odd. They do flights but it was far too busy so didn’t bother. Worth for checking the interior, maybe getting a whiskey, it is one of those brew pubs which aims bit too hard to please macro drinkers I suppose at least there is nothing inherently wrong with their beer.“

“Interior is obviously the highlight and main reason to visit. Wooden ceiling, separate seating booths, lamps, woodworks, glass, windows, tile decorations, everything is just gorgeous to behold in this early 1800s pub. Loads of people stopping by to have a look and it is across from the main bus station. A group of guided tourists even wandered through the bar while we were there. Service did take quite some time simply because they were too understaffed. Keg selection isn’t interesting Guinness obviously but also Whitewater, Coors and a bunch of other macros. They do however have 5 cask beers which is most that I saw in Belfast, Bass, Nicholson’s (obv.), Timothy Taylor and Hardian of whom I had never heard of before. Cask condition was serviceable as were the prices. Vegetarian and vegan traditional pub fair available. Obvious visit for the interior and cask beers.“

“Simple but nice classical wood and dark green, spacious interior with a gorgeous counter. Dark green on the outside, beautiful, feels like it is far older and more historical than it really is. This place is now a Boundary taproom and boasts an awesome tap list thanks to this. 11 taps of Boundary plus the likes of Beer Hut, Verdant, Cloudwater etc. Guinness being the only macro really. Boundary is probably Northern Irelands best brewery so awesome selection as well. The fridges also stocked with cans, Boundary but also Whiplash, Beer Hut etc. On top live music when we visited which was of more than a bit above average quality. Really loved it and by far my favorite place when I visited Belfast. Only remark is that they close too early at 19.00, only seemed to get some visitors prior to 19.00 although most of them were drunk and barely tried their beer before leaving so the early closing time might be to avoid that clientel? Cash only.“

“Recommended by a friend, definitely not what I expected. The focus is Rum and cocktails here and not beer. Got a cocktail advertised as a special which took surprisingly long since they managed to run out of rum, just orange, rum, ginger ale, ice, watery tasting. Taps are all macro now, Guinness offerings, Smitwicks, Heinken etc. Seemed to be only one potentially interesting bottle. Place was packed and insanely warm. Lots of decorations on the walls, some fun, some just too silly, kitschy, music was dad rock like Led Zepplin and Kiss. Popular for sure but cannot really recommended for beer or cocktails or general temperature.“

“Entrance needs a sign since you need to either enter through the sports bar on the first floor or through the alley next to it, neither of which has a sign. Once you get there, there is a sign next to the elevator and stairs, neither of which tells you what floor you need to be on. Combined with minimal online presence, you sort of need to be in the known it seems. Once you get there, you’re definitely somewhere different, a modern taproom, white tiles, big, bright thanks to ceiling window, gorgeous blue design. Not much atmosphere but looks pretty and different from any other bar I visited in Belfast. Bit too squeaky clean but nice. They have 6 of their own beers listed as on tap, maybe a bit more since menu wasn’t up to date. Also some guests (Ireland + UK), wine and macro taps like Heineken. Small can selection of modern craft Irish and UK beers. Pints are 5 – 6 euro, no beers of their exceeding 6.5 % ABV. ½ + 2/3 pints available as well as flights which are served in pretty ceramic trays. Beers are modern craft beer style, APA, IPA, Kettle Sour, hoppy pilsner, Stout and Christmas Stout. None were hugely exciting but decent, more in line with craft a decade a go but with less hops. Service was friendly for sure, didn’t interact much. Not the most exciting of places or breweries but it does make an interesting contrast with every other beer place in Belfast it seems.“

“My wife and I visited Morning Star on our holiday in Belfast in the spring of this year. Sought it out and glad we did. Nice inside, they seem to cater to the horse racing crowd from what we saw on the televisions. Sizeable place compared to the other pubs we encountered in the British Isles. The barman was quite friendly, asked where we were from. I had a pint of Maggie's Leap from Whitewater and my wife enjoyed a gin and tonic. Enjoyable time and place.“

“Small selection of macro beers available. The real draw seems to be the cocktails and spirit selection. Approximately 100 degrees inside so I guess it's nice if you are feeling cold. Go to the John Hewitt nearby instead.“

“Large bar with around 16 taps available, offers flights in varying sizes; 6, 8 or 20 beers I believe. Pretty well priced, food was good, not great. Service varies depending on whether you get the one guy who's in to beer, or a member of staff pulled through from Lavery's next door.“

“Visited during a beer festival. Large place, not too crowded at first, but got more and more crowded and louder and louder, until it just got too difficult to place orders, and conversation was impossible. Festival organization was a bit odd, as you had to buy tokns from the bar, and name the specific beer for which you were buying the token. But once you had said token, you could get any beer you liked with it. The stations pouring the beer had no glasses, so you had to get those from the main bar downstairs, and they ran out relatively quickly. Would like to return (with earplugs) on a normal night.“

“The oaked back room is the place to be. Empty when we visited whereas the front room was crowded. Anyway, it's a large place with lots of nooks and crannies so it absorbs the crowd well. Half a dozen craft options up front, though they had just run out of a couple. Back room has casks and macros. Nice stop.“

“Large place, really two rooms, each with its own bar but the craft beer side has a dozen choices. Sadly, only two were local, the rest of from around the UK and even the US - that could be a plus or a minus depending on what you're looking for. Staff is friendly and helpful. Big pool room and a rooftop bar, but the first was empty in the afternoon and the second was soaked with rain. They do flights in even number multiples starting with six, in more or less four ounce pours, so you can make your way through the taplist quite handily. Food is standard pub grub in huge quantity but so-so in flavour. Nice stop.“

“Walk past the bouncer with confidence, past the relatively empty bar (say hi to the barman) and head straight back to the lift (or elevator if you see that first). Turn left and you'll see a funky slightly hipster bar. This is the place. Long bar with stools to the left and the rest has restaurant tables. Eight house beers on offer, all that I tried were very tasty. Flights of thee thirds are possible, as are half or one-third pint pours of the six guest taps. They also have a small but decent selection of cans, focused mainly on the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom. Is was quiz night when I visited and I should have joined in, most of the questions were easy. Food is Detroit style pizza slices. Solid place, good staff.“

“The latest iteration of this place includes a nice renovation of a long serving bar, cozy booths and a whole bunch of tables. Even the toilets have been renovated. Copper jacketed brewhouse and a handful of barrels are visible at the back of the place. There was a Lacada tap takeover when we visited, but there were still plenty of house beers - a flight of three thirds of house beers or guests was under 6 pounds. Barman was very patient with some gin drinkers who had had one too many tequila shots. Solid place.“

“The next in our pub crawl across Great Britain while on holiday. Eye catching from the outside, very pubbish on the inside. Exterior of the building is reminiscent of the shape of the Flatiron Building in NYC. Owner was pleasant while I ordered a local pale ale. We got there 10 minutes after it opened, glad to get a small table to ourselves. Not a lot of taps to choose from, Guinness certainly, while I wanted the road less traveled. Ard’s Brewing sufficed.“

“Midweek afternoon visit but there was only free upstairs. A good mix of locals & tourists. Around 8 cask & similar keg pumps. Nicholson's Pale Ale was spot on. Only seemed to have barrel glasses upstairs which isn't really a good vessel for Fuller's London Pride & Nicholson's Pale Ale. Food was standard Nicholson's fayre & service attentive. Definitely worth a visit to see the decor.“

“Quite busy on a Sunday night, tried to eat upstairs but they said without a reservation they had no tables. We managed to snag one of the booths and thought we were good to go but they wont serve food to a booth after a certain time on Sunday. We had a round and left for a place to eat. Neat atmosphere albeit quite crowded. Had a couple of beers I hadn't seen anywhere else. Pricey like most of the touristy places.“

“Most craft-beery place of the trip. A short taxi ride out of Belfast city centre where we were staying. Typical striped modern industrial décor. Lively crowd just the right side of hipster. Serves flights and 2/3rds. Lots of Galway Bay beers. I was impressed with the 2/3rd glasses of Foam and Fury I had, Good selection of bottles. Close to the Errigle Inn, which we didn't visit, but looked good.“
