“The nerd shop. Downtown. Small growler station (7 taps), and you can buy 4oz samples. There's two seats, so not sure how that works in summer but in the slow months no worries. Top selection of cans and bottles. They know their stuff and don't fuck around with nonsense breweries. The must stop in Canmore-Banff for serious beer geeks.“

“Around the corner from the Grizzly Paw production brewery. Lots of taps. They'll pour you samples...if it's quite probably quite a few. Not all growlers, either. Ge a couple of 473ml cans. Selection isn't curated as such, but there's like 40 beers so plenty of quality.“

“In an industrial park nowhere near anything else. But, it's probably the best brewery if you only have time for one. Lots of selection, good service and only locals here. Nice views if you can score a window seat.“

“Tap room inside what is a fairly large brewery. The beers are okay - nothing too adventurous. Service is fine. No food. Worth a stop for a paddle. It's not in the heart of the tourist area but it is adjacent to the main shopping plaza with grocery stores and such, so better parking.“

“Small tap room. Bigger restaurant upstairs, should so be so inclined. Roughly the same beers as the brewpub downtown. If that place is busy because you're here in summer, then stop at the brewery to get your ticks on.“

“Once upon a time this was the only Grizzly Paw. Not so anymore. The main brewpub in the centre of town, though. Good selection. Service fine, beers a bit conservative. An older brewpub that seems like an older brewpub.“

“Stopped in with my family for supper. Limited beer selection, but had flights of 4. Food was great. Service was slow, but staff was friendly. To be fair, it was busy and they seemed understaffed. They had a large patio, but we chose to eat inside because it was 30+ degrees outside. Turned out it was hotter inside because they don’t have air conditioning. Expensive, but about the same as every other place in Canmore. Not really a beer place, but worth a stop if you’re hungry.“

“Stopped in with the family for supper. Beautiful location overlooking the mountains. Had an ok selection. Offered flights. Food was really good. A little overpriced, but that’s to be expected in a tourist trap. Staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely worth a stop.“

“Stopped in with my family for a flight. They offer flights of 4 or 6. Employees were friendly but little to no service. Just snacky food. Kid friendly and dogs allowed. Reasonable prices. Beer was ok, not great. Worth a stop.“

“Scenic restaurant on the hill with great view. Greeting girl was just OK but the table service was very good. Solid beer list on tap. Good, not great food.“

“Brewery located in outskirts of town. It has small patio outside and few seats inside. Plenty of covid rules. There is no service at all, you pick up beer at cashier (make sure to stand behind the table!) and return empty glass back in dirty pile. There are numerous "don't be lazy ass warnings signage about it"...yet, you are still you asked for tip and when given you won't her thank you....Tried only their Kolsch, it was so-so (mild diacetyl hints and lacking noble hop accents). I will find locum to spend my money somewhere else.“

“Probably a good stop (so one "click" short of a must stop) on the way from Jasper to Banff. Nice people...decent enough place if not especially special. Beers were acceptable...with a couple of decent ones ((misty Mountain NEIPA for example). They sell cans of their beer...so if passing thru...with no craftbeer on board...note that their beers are better than anything you'll get at Banff Avenue Brewing or Jasper Brewing. I hope their beers get better...otherwise a trip to Calgary would be required.“

“Much smaller than the other location, with a tiny tasting room downstairs combined with a retail shop. 8 beers on tap, which included core beers and specialty ones. Flights of 4 available for a reasonable price. Beer quality is decent; the barley wine they had on was delicious. Friendly service. Worth a stop to break up the drive through.“

“A huge space from the outside, but the inside is a little on the smaller side. A little tap room with a bunch of beers and some tap room only releases and bottles. Good prices and flights. Upstairs is a restaurant with a pretty interesting menu, unfortunately I didn't eat. Although the beers are not that exciting or even good, it is a great stop off the highway.“

“In a little industrial complex, open and airy but not very inviting. Staff are decent but beer is very mediocre at best. Flights and tasters are easy to come by and well priced. No real food. Of course there isn't much in the area so a good stop if you are passing through, but not worth a specific trip.“

“Incredible tourist trap in downtown Canmore. Decent beers but outrageous prices. Food was decent but oh so pricey. Place was full but not overcrowded, parking can be a bit tough, only street parking.“

“Slightly ahead of the GP for selection but other than that, both pale in comparison to Iron Goat when it comes to drinking beer (this is a beer based forum) for those of you looking for macros, this would be your place to visit in Canmore but for craft types, there are a couple of offerings at the Wood but often they are unavailable, which is unfortunate. Wing night is worth a visit but overall, there are better places to drink in Canmore.“

“2017-06-25. Bustling busy touristy stop today. Server is friendly. Po boy and brisket sandwiches are both very tasty, and large enough that we probably could have shared one. Beers are improved from my memory but there are only a couple of standouts today. Many of the beers are sweeter than my preference, not sure if that’s on purpose or not. Nice space but packed with people on a warm summer day. Great mountain views on the patio, we opted for air conditioning inside.“

“Went here July 2016 with the fam. I had heard that Iron Goat had some craft beer. I was pretty impressed to see they had one dedicated rotating tap to Stumbling Monk, which I think is pretty rare/hard to find on tap. Overall draft selection is not bad, but not mind blowing. Food and service were both decent, but what I really loved this place was the top top level patio (not the patio most people are on). The views from the patio are killer of the Rocky mountains. Better tap list than the Wood and the best place to drink in Canmore IMO (ambiance score is for only sitting on the top top level patio, otherwise its a 3)“

“This review is for the production brewery on 8 street, which has a small tasting room featuring 4 beers on tap, with free! tastings. The server was very pleasant and well-trained, gving a presumably scripted description of the beers. She did seem to know the types of hops in the pale ale. Kudos for that. The beers were pretty decent. The facility is beautiful. Clothing and botled beers for sale too.“

“Review for the off-sale across from the brewpub. Courteous staff member but not terribly knowledgeable nor wanting to chat. There were two sours left (stout and brown) and five of their regular lineup. Canmore seems to be somewhat of a touristy town and the off-sale caters to this with t-shirts, glasses and knick-knacks. I stepped into the brewpub - nice patio, beautiful scenery and friendly hostess.“

“Kinda odd this place has no ratings and Grizzly Paw has 24 ratings. I visited early January 2015. From what I remember, the service was not bad, it is a cozy place in the winter. Food was above average and reasonably priced for Canmore. Although it says it has 24 taps, a lot of those taps are either macros or something fairly mainstream, there was maybe 5-10 beers which were actually interesting. I BELIEVE they did sampler trays. I remember overall having a good time here and thinking I should come back in the summer to enjoy the huge patio. I would definitely recommend this place over Grizzly Paw, though in fairness I probably haven’t been to GP in like 5-7 years, though we did try to book a table at GP the night we went to the Wood, but my friend said the person was so rude that was taking the reservation, he choose to go to the Wood. The Wood isn’t a beer geek bar, but if you are in the area, then definitely worth a stop.“

“Cool little brewpub with a great patio overlooking the mountains. Beer quality was very poor, with many nearly undrinkable ones. Prices are steep ($7-7.50 for a pint, but the taster tray is okay: $1.50 per 3 oz. pour). Service was friendly enough. Didn’t have any food, but it was priced steep. Another fun stop en route to Calgary with bad beer.“

“The Grizzly Paw has always been a great place to stop if you;re in the rocky mountains. The food is good, the beer is good and the price is good too. Not to mention their very own produced pop is awesome as well! Never had bad service here and now with the new brewery open it seems these guys are adding to their ever growing rotating big bottles and rotational taps at the pub. Great place to stop if passing by!“

“Nice place to visit for lunch when in Canmore, we droped in on a saturday after hiking with friends, more like a restaurant than a pub, Burgers were good & the beer on tap was Ok (mostly Pilsner, Pale & Brown Ales) there is always room for improvement, Not much of a selection of imports the focus is on their draft and so it should be, Nice place, would go back.“

“A two level brewpub with a friendly local feel. Pool tables upstairs. Brewing equipment in the rear. Good size patio out front. Seemed to draw a decent crowd of locals at lunchtime. Staff was friendly, semi knowedgable, able to talk about the beers in simplistic terms. There were about 10 taps on this time. Food was decent, pub grub. Good sized portions and good ingredients. The beers range from simplistic lagers to decent stouts. Nothing too experimental on tap, beers are mainly session styles - pale ales, cream ales, brown ale, pilsner etc. Their seasonal beers are a bit better than their normal offereings. Moose Knuckle Stout and The Jacolantern were both decent seasonals. The beers are seved in oversized shakers. You can get a taster tray featuring a small 3oz (or so) sample of each beer on tap. Best to start with that and then order a full pint of the ones you like. Gift shop is across the lane with some nice Grizzly Paw Pilsner glasses, mugs, golf and tshirts. They also have a beer hot sauce and bbq sauce. There’s also some craft sodas for sale. The gift shop carries the Powderhound, Rutting Elk and the Honey Wheat. Unfotunately there were no bottled seasonals. Worth a visit, just don’t go in expecting big experimental brews.“

“May 2007: This has perhaps the best view of any brewpub I’ve ever been to, nestled on the main street of the cool little Rockies burg of Canmore. It’s well appointed and the decor fits the area. Their gift shop is separate with some cool shirts, but a bit pricey. Once we settled into our table, the ditzy restaurant started the impression off on the completely wrong foot: Seasonals? "Well, there’s the Moose Knuckle." What’s that? "It’s dark." OK. "Like a Guinness." A stout? "Um ... yeah ... and we have a India Ale Pale." Alrighty then. But after that, all went well. The two beers I guzzled were good enough and the food was fun, too. And the scenery makes up for quite a bit. Visited again 2 days later, this time sitting at the bar, being well taken care of by a knowledgeable and friendly bartender. Two more beers, two more good ones.“

“Wow, most ratings of this place are pretty lackluster! I thought it was great-- decent pub food, friendly staff, tasty beers. The bartender/assisstant brewmaster was happy to chat about the brewing process and all that goes into their line of beers. I thought all the beers were good, and a couple very good (the Rutting Elk Red is even better on tap, the BigHead Ale was a treat too). I thought the food was excellent standard pub fare, with huge portions and fresh ingredients (our nachos and burgers were fantastic, just what we wanted after golfing all day). If you are entering the Rockies from Alberta and need a place to catch a bite and wet your whistle, then I would definitely recommend the short detour off the highway into Canmore to visit this place.“

“Have to agree with the rest that this is an OK brewpub. The beers on tap were fresh and not listed in the brewery beers. The Bloody IPA was fairly good. Others, not so much. The burgers were overcooked. But, others in my partey said their food was good. Sit outside (summer only) for a good view of the tourists.“

“Canmore is a great little town, surrounded by stunning views of the canadian rockies. This is a fun place to go, but don’t expect a whole lot in the beer department. I sampled all of the beers and they are not impressive. Still tolerable. Food is just ok. The vibe and the service still make it worth a visit, especially if you sit near a window with a view. Unibroue beers are easily found at local beer stores, so you can still enjoy some good brew while enjoying your stay in this beautiful area“
