82 /100 Gwaelod-y-Garth Inn (Bar) MAIN ROAD Ticks all the boxes for amazing rural pub. Gwaelod-y-Garth is a well-to-do village to the northwest of Cardiff, and can be accessed during the day by the G1 bus (do check to see if this is still running though)! or across the river and a steep climb up from Taff's Well. The pub itself is a fairly foodie affair but drinkers are certainly catered for. Eight cask beers - 6 by Vale of Glamorgan - are available. Now I don't always find VoG the most exciting beer but the offerings here included a NEIPA and and imperial stout. Keg beers were from Crafty Devil, Disruption is Brewing and Brew York. There were also about five cans in the fridge and five bottles of cider that I didn't recognise. Dog-friendly, child-friendly and community-focused. |
