“Close to the Cathedral, this cafe-bar is at the end of an alleyway on the hill side of the High Street, which opens out into an unused tiny courtyard area. It opens early with cafe customers frequenting or taking away their morning caffeine, however as there's several fridges of crafted cans again one wall anytime is good here to collect some takeaway. There's plenty of craft keg lines here too with local options available.“

“The bar is one of the hidden gems. You would not expect a good craft beer bar in tiny Bangor, but there is this one. A very new one. They have ten beers on tap and a good choice of bottles and cans. The staff- one evening it was the owner himself - are really friendly and can give you good advice should you be looking for a special flavour. “

“Found this Bar/Taproom just off the high street in Bangor. WOW this isn't like any other Bar in the town.....it has real craft beer! They had over 6 different draft beers and 8 Taps with a house beer from local brewery Wild Horse. All their others came from around Wales Tiny Rebel, Loka Polly and so many more, They have a large selection of bottles and cans and even do flights of beer. I saw they also do Growlers and choice spirits/ciders all at a reasonable price. A few bar snacks and a deli selection durning the day time. If you're in the area or on Holiday in Snowdonia go see and try some local craft beers, I loved it!“

“Visited on 29th April 2017. A nice old pub and just up the road from the Spoons. Internally there’s a mix of levels, lots of wood and a quite modern feel. It was pretty quiet and staff took a little while to serve us. Had 3 beers on cask from Bog Brew although one kicked straight away. Quality and prices OK. It’s worth a look in as there’s not much else doing in town!“

“Visited on 29th April 2017. It’s a split level Spoons with bar upstairs and a huge and popular seating area downstairs, standard Spoons decor that looked fairly decent. Beer range was probably the best in town with the usual Craft offerings and a good mix of local cask beer. Prices were excellent, service was good, food was OK. A solid Spoons and probably best venue in town“

“Visited on 29th April 2017. Cafe bar style affair on the High St. It’s decor is pretty smart with a lot of dark wood, a lot of seating and it seemed popular with the locals. No cask beers on and only a couple of local keg offerings, prices were a little steep, service was painfully slow, beer quality was OK. Focus was more on food than beer. Not one I’d revisit.“

“Visited on 29th April 2017 with my local tour guide (thanks Beth!). It’s a student Irish pub, quite a large place with plenty of seating and the decor has a little lean towards the Emerald Isle but is nothing too special. 3 cask beers featuring local brewers, beer was OK in quality, prices and service OK. Not too bad and one of better places in town.“

“On the pleasant low-rise road under the hill between the A5 and the pier, this Marstons pub is a small open plan multi-room affair with a fairly appealing decor although remaining traditional in style. The service area is immediately to your left after you walk in and includes four hand pumps which carry the Marstons family range and always one of its seasonal or special brews - there’s also a Marstons Keg bitter here too. The beer garden is sheltered from the road which isn’t that busy anyhow and includes its own sheltered part if it’s raining. There’s a small car park here too.“

“The last pub before the pier at the northern most part of the city and the hill that separates the centre from the Menai Straits. This pub is an open plan split level affair with the bar with its six hand pumps against the back wall after you walk in. There’s some seating here and more in the larger area to the left. The right hand side of the pub is on set higher up and is a little more secluded with the pool table in the far corner. Traditional urban pub in style.“

“On the A5 in the city up the hill where it heads towards the magnificent Menai Suspension Bridge. This pub is one of several in a small nightlife area close to the University, although as I was here in the summer there were very few students around, although I believe they pack this and other pubs out during term times. This is an Irish bar with a healthy real ale presence. There’s three pumps on the small bar that carry a rotating local craft selection. The venue is small and a little basic in design but convivial enough with sport shown on television screens.“

“Busy cafe bar on the drivable western part of the High Street. It’s opposite the Albion and includes a dark wood design in both floor and furniture with some soft furnished seats. The walls are painted dark and include lots of photographs and pictures and it all combines to make an atmospheric place to drink or dine. Plenty of people do latter and the rear of the open plan room around a longish central bar is mainly for dining. This area also includes views over the town looking out towards the University and there’s also a split level outdoor patio area beyond this. There’s three ale pumps serving a rotating and mainly local selection, although it’s hit and miss as to whether anything is on them, I’ve been in here a few times and they have been both full and empty on visits. Has a fairly young crowd frequenting here in the evening.“

“Just up from the Black Bull, this is reputedly the oldest inn in Bangor and the current building does have an older appearance to it. Sadly the insides have been modernised and other than the original fireplace that exists to the right of the central doorway, some of the old world style furnishings and furniture do feel forced. At the weekend the pub caters for a party crowd like most in Bangor, but it is open all day and a quiet drink here can be found. The main reason to come here is that there are two rotating real ale pumps in the middle of the otherwise inane lager selections and you’ll probably always find a Big Bog brew on one of them - and it was a 6% choice on my visit so they’re not just trying to cater for sessionists here.“

“Set a few minutes away from the main city centre, past the cinema and towards the station this is a pub of two halfs. The bar area is separated from the main drinking area by an attractive stone wall that adds to the ambiance and decor. The main sitting area has a very military precision tables layout in the main downstairs area, but this maximises the space available, it’s a comfortable place nevertheless. There’s also a rear patio area. Real ale is on two rows of ale pumps.“
