50 /100 James Pringle Weavers (Beer Store) LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLLGOGERYCHWYRNDROBWLLLLANTYSILIOGOGOGOCH STATION, HOLYHEAD ROAD A bit store, gift shop that sells basically everything in Llanfair.... Next to the train station with the longest town sign. The selection of beers is not bad, mostly locals with lots of ciders. The prices are not bad, considering it's a tourist stop (in a way). Wouldn't go out of the way to stop here, but if travelling to Anglesey, perhaps a small detour to pick some beer. |
58 /100 James Pringle Weavers (Beer Store) LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLLGOGERYCHWYRNDROBWLLLLANTYSILIOGOGOGOCH STATION, HOLYHEAD ROAD On a holiday around the British Isles the tour bus took us here. After what we had seen before, this place was quite welcome. I have no familiarity with Welsh brewers so I bought a number of offered bottle beers to sample later. Many other items here other than beers, we were glad to have the stop. Friendly folks behind the counter. |
52 /100 James Pringle Weavers (Beer Store) LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLLGOGERYCHWYRNDROBWLLLLANTYSILIOGOGOGOCH STATION, HOLYHEAD ROAD Stopped in while visiting Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch Station for photo op. Small selection, but found some new cideries I had not tried. Not much else but touristy trap. |
42 /100 James Pringle Weavers (Beer Store) LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLLGOGERYCHWYRNDROBWLLLLANTYSILIOGOGOGOCH STATION, HOLYHEAD ROAD Huge tourist emporium set up to take advantage of people visiting the village with the longest place name in the UK - it's very much aimed at the coach tour market. Parking is free. Inside it looks like Wales has thrown up on it - if you can stick a dragon or an "I Love Wales" logo on something they'll stock it. Somewhere in the midst of all the Cymru merchandising there's a small selection (maybe 20 different bottles) of beers and ciders from (if I remember correctly) Conwy, Great Orme and Gwynt y Ddraig - nothing unusual or interesting though. They also have some Welsh spirits. There's a small, pleasant and friendly farm shop on the left as you go in, which had some nice local produce and friendly staff but sadly no beers. Farm shop aside, the whole place is pretty grim. If you do feel the need, pull in to take a photo of the village name sign and use the loos, but then get away as quickly as you can to nicer parts of the island (of which there are many - I particularly recommend walking along Newborough Warren beach to reach the lovely Ynys Llanddwyn; the walk around the weird coloured rocks of Parys Mountain open copper mine; and climbing Mynnydd Bodafon at sunset). |
48 /100 James Pringle Weavers (Beer Store) LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLLGOGERYCHWYRNDROBWLLLLANTYSILIOGOGOGOCH STATION, HOLYHEAD ROAD With a large car park separating this large tourist shop & cafe from the railway station with the longest name, you’ll find this place a magnet for people wanting to take a picture next to the small station house with its sign, or indeed on the platform where Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is phonetically spelt. As there’s very little else at ’LlanfairPG’ as the locals refer to it, practically everyone goes in the shop as well. Inside it’s full of all manor of tourist items for sale, most with a Welsh slant to them of course, with one table currently in the central isle after you enter dedicated to local ales and ciders, there were about 30 in all from the North Wales region, all of which are regularly available throughout the region. Parking is free for visitors to the shop. |
52 /100 James Pringle Weavers (Beer Store) LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLLGOGERYCHWYRNDROBWLLLLANTYSILIOGOGOGOCH STATION, HOLYHEAD ROAD Located next to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch Station this place exists to cater to the abundance of tourists stopping off en route to Ireland purely and simply to get a photo in front of the sign with the longest town name in Europe. As you would expect it’s basically a huge gift shop with all manner of Welsh (and Scottish) tack, but also having a small half-decent range of Welsh ale and cider. Expect Great Orme, Cwrw Llŷn, Gwynt y Ddraig, Conwy, Tomas Watkins as well as a selection of Welsh mead. Not an amazing selection, but I found a cider i’d not had before. |
