“Atmospheric pub on the opposite end of the town from the touristy bit. The castle was covered in scaffolding when I visited, but there are remnants scattered throughout the town, not to mention the keep just up the road. Anyway, the pub is filled with bric-a-brac and had a fire when I visited - the only patron on a Sunday. Rugby on TV. A single IPA from Brehon was their only craft. No food of their own but you can order from the chippy truck at the end of the block. Friendly barman. Cozy place.“

“Part of the original Taaffes Castle, which is from the 1600's. A cool place with a nice bar in the middle. Seating is faily limited inside but they do have a 2 patios. Friendly service. Lots of wood and memorabilia. They were out of the 2 beers that I haven't had, settled on a Hop House 13, which was better than last time I've had it.“

“A cool layed back place. Founded in 1771. Not much of a beer destination, the same beer as everywhere else. But worth the stop. The food was great, oysters were good. Many different rooms. A nice beer garden in the back. They have another bar area that is only open on weekends.“
