66 /100 An Uisce Beatha (Bar) 8 MERCHANTS QUAY Next to a river, bit out of the center. Nice local theme. Good amount of taps with bit different selection than in others.
Friendly staff. Worth a visit. |
66 /100 Revolution Gastro Bar (Bar) 19 JOHN STREET Large place in the center. Decent amount of taps, macros and local craft side by side. If you started from Tully's or Phil Grimes there is very little new for you here. But still managed to find some.
Chicken wings/trumstick combo was large, easily for 2 to share.
Worth a visit. |
92 /100 Phil Grimes Pub (Bar) 60 JOHNSTOWN I thought it's really hard to upgrade feel and welcomness and hospitality of Tully's so good I felt there. Ohh boy was I wrong.
I was welcomed here like long lost brother who has finally found its way home. Like super friendly staff, knowing about beer, nice chat etc. And locals allowed me to be part of their conversation about football, local news, sport, beer etc. Friendliest Aston Villa and ManU fans I've ever met.
Plenty of taps, ciders in fridges too (I sneakily asked for take away and they didn't say no).
Well worth the 10 minute walk. Must visit place. |
84 /100 Tully’s Bar (Bar) 37 O’CONNELL STREET Easy Tuesday afternoon, I'm pretty much the only customer. Good range of Irish craft on tap. So far best selection on the trip. Different sizes served. English spoken.
I seemed trustworthy enough to them to ask me to pay now or open a tab. Blending in!
Must visit place! |
64 /100 An Geata Arundel (JDW) (Bar) 9 ARUNDEL SQUARE In the heart of the Waterford center. 8 pumps for real ale 5 unique. Sadly 3 out of 4 which were new to me were not in good condition. Happens.
Staff, youngsters, don't really pay attention. Had to explain several times I want 1/3 pints and still got served full pints. Luckily it cost me nothing (included in food) and beer wasn't in good condition as said above, but I hate to waste real ale.
Other taps are macros you can find in every JDW.
Food was worst I ever had in chain, cold and tasteless. Like how can fried egg be cold!? Unless it comes from fridge, in that case some toilets gonna get destroyed. |
90 /100 Tully’s Bar (Bar) 37 O’CONNELL STREET Uriger Pub in der Innenstadt. 15 Craft taps und viel lokaler Whiskey. Innenhof zum draussen sitzen. Gute Auswahl! Hingehen. |
70 /100 Thompson’s Carryout (Beer Store) FERRYBANK Smallish store on the main road past Rice bridge on the way to Ferrybank. What’s there isn’t a ton but it’s good. Mostly Irish craft beer, loads of stuff that isn’t widely available like Whiplash latest, loads of Metalman, Yellowbelly, etc. Besides World Wide Wines, this is a must stop in Waterford for good beer. |
56 /100 Ardkeen Quality Foodstore (Grocery Store) DUNMORE RD High end food store in the Ardkeen Shopping Centre, across the street from World Wide Wines. Not a huge selection, a little overpriced, but what’s there is pretty good for Irish craft beer, they don’t carry any other craft beer. |
100 /100 World Wide Wines (Beer Store) THE COVE CENTRE, DUNMORE ROAD Great range of drink and the growler station is a nice touch. |
100 /100 World Wide Wines (Beer Store) THE COVE CENTRE, DUNMORE ROAD Best shop in Waterford. |
