“Stumbled across this bar and stayed all evening. There were 9 beers on tap, three of which were brewed on site. Slightly on the expensive side (count about 8€/pint) but the décor and atmosphere are good. Most of all, an interesting selection of draught beers that is not set in stone. Food comes in the form of saucisson.“

Le Coin Bière (Beer Store)
18 RUE DE LA FUYE
“Yet another small bottle shop run by an excitable young French chap passionate about modern craft beer. Located in a suburban area about 5-10 mins walk from Tours centre, so perhaps easily missed by tourists. However, make the walk out and you'll be greeted with a very well-selected stock, including a large display of French indies from all over the country, and quite a few from local breweries. If like me you require a bit of guidance the owner is more than willing to pluck out some of his favourites, describing in detail the flavour profiles, ingredients and info about each brewery. Expect to find good UK craft and very good Belgian options, plus some of the best new releases from Quebec and Switzerland. If in the area, or just passing Tours en route to somewhere else this place should feature in your itinerary.“

“Saturday, 17h30. Just out of "The Musée du Compagnonnage", abbey of Saint-Julien de Tours (interesting museum !). Next to the tram. Beermenu is the same as other "Les Berthom". Mostly belgian ales, a few american/french/german beers. Ok service. A bit expensive. I had a Troubadour Westkust ; really good beer ; cold service... Wooden tables all around the bar. Less rustic than the Clermont Ferrand bar I visited 2-3 weeks ago. But still... a good place to taste a beer !“

“I’ve been there 10 days ago. Mostly belgian beers and a few gems (black chocolate stout brooklyn), very tasty ! Ambiance was really good. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Good experience. You can even buy bottles during afternoon.“

“UPDATED: Surprisingly roomy bar located next to the station, away from the real city centre. Decorated abundantly with Belgian brewer tags and such kitch, quite nice and warm. As specialized in Belgian beers for 20 years, the nice beer menu book is well organized and complete. However, since some month the craft beer revolution has been introduced here too! Via the usual distributors you can now expect De Molen, Evil twin. Nogne O and perhaps some craft French beers if you are lucky. This transforms the place into your best bet for craft beer in Tours, by far! Prices are okay for the Belgians and very high -- but totally in line with France -- for the Euro craft stuff. Great glassware. When I started asking around the owner(s) were hugely interested. Such friendly hosts. If they can work on their selection of French micros (which is difficult) and somehow improve prices (even more difficult in France), this can actually rise to the top of French beer bars!“

“Wow, so somebody added this to RateBeer... In a way it’s good because 1) it means we have more French raters, more French interest and more RateBeer coverage and 2) beer tourists who use ratebeer and find a place with this name can find what it really is. So what is it? It’s a dark whole, a cheap beer hideout, a (way) late night place to get drunk and look at young students, perhaps even sing some karaoke. Disguised as a beer place. Sure there is a fair (for provincial France) list if beers and 9 (or so) taps of Belgian beer, but don’t think for a moment this is a place to enjoy those. The floors are sticky, the toilet (literally) a while in the ground, no natural light and no one with interest in good beer. Admittedly the happy hours are so stretched that you get (again, literally) liters of high alcohol Belgian stuff for super low prices... But if you want to enjoy the beer rather than the intoxicated local students I recommend staying WAY clear of this. Berthom is 10 minutes away and (although busy and expensive) a much better beer place. Or try Gambrinus if you are looking for Belgian beers in a low key setting, with an owner that actually enjoys beer.“

“Friendly staff and place but very expensive when you are used to Lille or belgian prices. Sélection is good for this région of France who is more into wines, and no mainstream beers on tap. So over all its not too bad.“

V&B Tours (Beer Store)
194 AVENUE ANDRE MAGINOT
“An odd one, because while it is primarily a beer place (that also offers a small yet solid selection of wines, whiskeys and other drinks), it missed the modern bier revolution completely. Instead a fair amount of (medium sized brewery) Belgians are offered, some easily accessible ’specialty’ French brews like Levrette and a bunch of German imports. Actually the German stuff is most interesting (except perhaps the local Turone beers if you haven’t ticked them yet). The staff was fairly busy and friendly enough but not necessarily overly interested. Prices aren’t very competitive... Especially considering the common availability of the beers. The weirdest part about this place is that half of it (the back) is actually a bar where you can drink a lot of the beers. Not quite my kind of location for a night out, but if you are not alone it actually makes for a nice opportunity. So very boring in terms of selection and atmosphere but a fun concept nonetheless.“

“An odd one... this is one of 11 similar bars throughout France that all have the same feel, crowd and - unfortunately - beer menu. Decorated in a sort of barn house style with rustic wooden benches and (fake) trees. Quite cosy and fun, I have to admit. Service is okay, not knowledgeable though. Atmosphere and crowd is accordingly students and alike. Nobody seems to come here for the beer per se, as the mostly Belgian offerings are nothing special, even for French bars. Well, you can get lucky with the monthly special (I am always happy drinking fresh Saison Dupont on tap) and it’s the only bar in the area I know that serves (BrewDog) IPAs, but... why this boring menu? Why no French brews at all? Why not more variety? One only has to look at the crazy prices... 6,90 euro for a Hardcore IPA? 15 euro for a 75cl Choufe Houblon? No thanks! Update: Been here again and there are some nice additions to the beer menu such as the excellent Musketeers beers (their black IPA Westkust is for example 6 euro). Still can get very crowds, but this time the bar tender had some basic knowledge of modern beer styles and was very friendly, so Rightfully increased my rating.“
