“Visited just the once, not too long after lockdown restrictions had eased somewhat in November 2021. Trad old country type boozer down a crappy old stone and pothole road ... the taxi's suspension took a right old beating. Tied to Fullers so the usual suspects on cask ... Pride, ESB and a seasonal tick. Food was decent, usual Fuller's fayre, not high end but you don't feel cheated. Place was busy for a Saturday lunchtime and glad we booked a table. By no means a go to destination, just somewhere local to me and in a good walking area for dogs (and just humans).“

“Visited many times, most recently August 2020. Was surprised to see this house entered on the website as it isn't a beer destination by any means; however it is a really nice pub and definitely worth visiting for that reason. It's set one of the unsurfaced roads off of the end of Downley Common with great walking country all around (the very interesting Waddesdon Manor is only a short stroll away). Walkers clearly make up a large part of the bustling trade, along with others drawn by the warm welcome and the good value home-cooked pub grub - the popularity means you may need to book for food at the weekends. It's a little old fashioned inside (part of the charm - no gastropub makeover here!) and outside there's an attractive beer garden. The beers are 4 cask pumps providing 3 core range Fullers beers and one guest (often Dark Star these days). You're unlikely to get a new rate here, but if you want a friendly traditional pub with great walks from the door this may be the one for you.“
