76 /100 Frothblowers (Bar) 78 STORRINGTON WAY Traditional little mucropub in the south of Werrington, sister pub to the Bumble in Peterborough. The decor is very much old-fashioned but homely and comfortable. About 8 cask beers, mostly traditional sessionable styles from smaller breweries. The real draw here is the cider list with 27 ciders (16 standard and 11 flavoured) and 2 perries. These are listed with a guide on sweetness and in some cases tannin and acidity. They are national finalists for CAMRA Cider POTY and rightly so. |
72 /100 Ploughman (Bar) 1 STANILAND WAY This is the sort of place that I would never have expected to want to come to except for my fellow Ratebeerian's rates below (one of those wonderful moments when our place ratings do work). An estate pub feel next to a Tesco and a Theakston pub sign. The reality inside in different. Very luved-in and rowdy but very friendly. 5 cask beers on including new beers from AJs and Lincoln Green for me, plus a Buxton ice cream sorbet thingy on keg. You may not be tempted to while away an afternoon, but a quick half would seem a bit clipped. Worth checking out. |

76 /100 Frothblowers (Bar) 78 STORRINGTON WAY This is a lovely little micropub quite a walk out of the centre of Peterborough but handily on the Citi1 Bus route, which passes by the front door. Just a single room, quite long and narrow with the bar to the back of the pub. 5 hand pulls on offer and the occasional cellar run. It is friendly and welcoming, well worth making the effort to get there. |
52 /100 Blue Bell (Elgoods) (Bar) 6 THE GREEN This is a 19th century pub seemingly brought upmarket in the centre of Werrington village. There is a restaurant area plus a locals bar with a pool table taking up some room. There are a small range of beers, Everards plus guests. Not overly exciting on the beer front but pleasant enough. |
82 /100 Ploughman (Bar) 1 STANILAND WAY From the outside this is an unprepossessing 70's type estate pub dumped in the middle of a Tesco Car Park, no getting away from that fact, however that doesn't get anywhere near telling the full story about this Community Pub. Landlords make or break pubs and this landlord has a terrific drive to make his pub a success. It's a Free House and he uses that to get in as many varied beers as he can, catering for all tastes, we went there for his beer festival, which is excellent. This inside is basic 70's fixtures and fittings, carpeted, plush seating, one long bar with 6 ever changing hand pumps, I noticed a range of bottled beers. There is an outside courtyard on the side of the pub, some food is available. Completely took me by surprise this one and a must visit if you can get there. |
80 /100 Frothblowers (Bar) 78 STORRINGTON WAY Little Real Ale Bar in a little row of shops 5 handpulls and then 3 Barrels on too..good selection of local brews in too.. and busy with locals too.. |
80 /100 Dragon (Wells) (Bar) HODGSON AVENUE A very welcoming pub with great staff which regularly hosts beer events and puts on live bands and child entertainment to suit the whole family. Also hosts Champions League poker nights to pass the time while quaffing ;-) |
