“Just a couple of minutes away from the Hawkshead Brewery, away from the modern this is the traditional public house in Staveley, a nice one too with a decent real ale selection. This was a summer visit so like most I spent it on the opposite side of the road where the garden for the pub exists, with its boundary being the quaint river that meanders around the village at this point. It's a lovely spot.“

“A fine place to enjoy a few very well made beers, it's a very modern place on a industrial estate in a small village. I walked the 1.5miles from the equally good Watermill Inn where I was staying.“

“Modern building at the rear of an otherwise ordinary industrial estate at the western end of Staveley. The beer hall is large open plan, quite bright with its large glass windows, with its curved bar serving both cask and keg towards the rear against the right-hand wall. It's perhaps a little oversized for the small conurbation it serves but I'm sure it gets plenty of out-of-town visitors given it's a more than decent place to sit and sup Hawkshead. There's a few outdoor tables too.“

“Called here beginning of May on a Thursday teatime. Place had plenty of punters downstairs and sat at the bar, but upstairs was empty bar myself and the missus. Good selection of Hawkshead, although only one stout, and nothing “imperial” to choose from. Had a mix of cask and keg, and as you’d expect, they were all in perfect nick. Thirds available on everything and the staff were friendly and efficient. Got plenty of ticks here, and more were available in the fridges, had there been time and liver capacity. Definitely somewhere I’d visit again.“

“Used to always stop at the watermill on way into lakes for dinner but this is my new favorite stop off trendy bat that wouldn't look out of place in a city center friendly service the beers I tried were in tip top condition bottles to take out.“

“I have never been here. So my rating is just for the web site. Very convinient if you want to buy beer from Cumbria. Otherwise not that easy to get. Good beers also. But I do not think they send abroad. I got it to my friend in Liverpool“

“Hawkshead Brewey taproom in a warehouse like building not far from Kendal. Only Hawkshead's beers on tap but unsurprisingly in beautiful condition. Cask & keg beers on offer. The food looked great although I didn't eat. Bottles/cans available to takeaway if required“

“Lovely romantic interior, food bordering on the exquisite, friendly service, log fire... if the Eagle & Child served good beer then it would be a top pub. Unfortunately it's wanting in this respect, with five sessionable cask bitter/golds from local breweries. My partner and I choked down a couple of sulphur bombs while waiting for our meal. There are some decent basic bottles available (Punk, Franziskaner, etc.) so these may be a viable alternative to ticking the beer equivalent of a sulphur mine. Or maybe I got it on a bad night, and at any rate you can't fault the condition of the cask. Verdict: come for the food and the atmosphere and leave your ticking notebook at home!“

“Amazing beer pub in the middle of Staveley near the river. Gleaming building, looks more like an automobile showroom (minus the autos of course) from the outside. You can smell the brewery as you walk in - the aroma is resplendent with fresh hop - so your appetite is whet before you even get to the bar. They keep to their own beers on tap but the choice can't be bettered: all of their core options on cask plus some new and/or rarer options on either cask or keg. (No Tiramisu Imperial Stout but I had that last night so I'm cool). Plus there is a small craft selection of bottles and dans from other breweries as well as their own. Prices are low, even for the area.“

“Came here for the Northern Craft Beer Festival at the end of July. Quite a rambling place with three bars and an outdoor area. Brewing area (which you can look down into from one of the bars) looked like a place that someone actually works in, rather than a temple to the glory of stainless steel, like some breweries. Service was very friendly and quite knowledgeable. Difficult to say what the normal tap selection would be because they had a load of beers on for the festival but I noticed that the normal bottle list had a bunch of guest beers on as well as own products. My opener at the festival was the Hawkshead IPA, which I thought was very good. Also tried the Tiramisu Imperial Stout later in the day, which was great. Prices (at the festival) seemed decent. Well worth a visit if in the area, would even say worth to steer your way here if you anywhere in the Lake District, as I would be surprised if you would find another place as good. Big thumbs up!“

“Stayed here overnight because it’s a short walk from Hawkshead, which is well worth the trip by itself. It’s a two room pub, packed with lots of kitsch. Small bar with five casks and various other offerings. Friendly staff. Decent food. Has its own car park. Rooms were clean and quiet. Handful of picnic tables in the picturesque back garden, and a handful more across the street with a small brook running by. Very dog friendly. Worth a stop.“

“Large bar and tasting area stick onto the front of their priduction facility. Live music on Sunday when I visited, but I just missed fiid since they stop serving at 18:00. Large selection of their beers on cask and keg, and some guests. Young staff were great at guiding me through the beer list, and they looked like they were having lots of fun, dancing to the music and keeping everyone entertained. Beers were in good condition. No flights, but they did do thirds. Fantastic place.“

“If you want to try a wide range of Hawkshead beers, then you can’t do any better than the Beer Hall. It’s a big open plan bar with plenty of room for relaxing. There were a few too many children wandering around at times during the aftenoon, but what can you do. Most of the Hawkshead beers are pretty good. There were plenty on keg and cask along with a couple of guests. There was also a decent bottle selection with even more beers plus a good range of interesting guests. The prices for the Hawkshead beers were excellent and the was no surcharge for drinking the bottles in. I can’t imagine there’s anywhere better in Cumbria.“

“Visited this fine beer emporium for a "Sunday Session" (see their website). Fine selection of their own beers and other bottled stuff. Busy, but easy to get served by the friendly and knowledgeable staff Two things had an impact on my enjoyment: 1) Bored toddlers who’s parents were dug in and enjoying the beer too much to realise that the kids had long since reached the limit of their attention span. 2) The session, which is an implied Go-as-you-please appeared to be a bunch of locals performing barely competent versions of popular tunes for the benefit of their mates. Be warned. Nice beer though.“

“Visited the brewpub and the brewery 2 jan 2015. Nice pub with their own beers on tap, a small store, where you also can buy other beers, f.e. Belgian trappist chimay and stuff like t-shirts.Decent prices in the shop. Nice atmosphere and nice small food.“

“Beautiful modern but cool building which is laid out for comfort. The food is adventurous and good even if some of the battered offerings has been taken a touch far. Pleasant and friendly service. On a minor point it would be nice to see one or two one off brews on the taps. Great though. Need more places like these.“

“A purpose built beer hall adjoining the brewery. The Beer Hall is part of the Hawkshead brewery, which relocated in 2006 to a purpose built unit on a small industrial estate in Staveley where its neighbours include craft shops and cafés. It’s a very modern, light wood, open plan space with two huge steel fermenters by the door and a gallery upstairs from which you can wander into the brewery itself. It’s a bit clinical and has a feeling of being not quite finished although the brewery is a bustling place and Hawkshead beers seem to be finding their way to an ever expanding catchment area. I noticed that the office has a map on the wall showing places to which they deliver. There are 16 taps in the Beer Hall with all the Hawkshead beers and their Lakeland Lager plus Veltins. They have a good bottle list featuring Belgian and American beers and they also serve a house whisky (Bladnoch) and wines from small independent growers. There’s an interesting menu of “tapas”, which caused chaos and confusion as we’d been expecting an array of Spanish dishes rather than nouvelle cuisine with a distinctive English twist offered in small portions ideal for sharing. No matter, as the food was very tasty. There’s a small “shop” at the back of the hall - really just a small storage room – with an impressive array of interesting bottles from various UK microbreweries such as Kernel, Thornbridge, Mallinsons, Buxton, St Austell, Harviestoun and Williams Brothers as well as some from the better Belgian breweries. The prices were good; for example, all the Hawshead bottles were £2, except for the Lakeland Lager which was £1.60. (Visited 24 October 2011).“

“The official brewery tap of the gorgeous Hawkshead Brewery, well hidden in an industrial estate in the village of Staveley, just a few steps off the road connecting Kendal and Windermere; a - literally - first floor beer hall, offering most of the Hawkshead brews either on tap or in bottles, closed for private parties in the evenings. Festivals are held twice ayear. A must, when You are touring the Lake District!“

“Stopped off here on the way to a brief break in Ambleside. Nice quiet place with a fascinating view of the brewery. I had a decent tuna roll, but the choice of food was wide and tempting. Very good foreign selection and most of the Hawkshead beers either bottled or on tap. Pity it doesn’t open in the evenings.“

“Superb village pub in the heart of the Lake District. Multi-roomed feel, with a great bar, the ceilings and walls adorned with past pumpclips. 5 pumps dispense beer in superb condition, locally brewed beers feature well, alongside those from further afield, Pilsner Urquell on draught, along with Erdinger, however, I did notice other European pump badges behind the bar. The food is freshly cooked and locally sourced and is excellent.“

“Revisited July 2011, for the SIBA champions beer fest, after initial visit during their SIBA 2009 Champions festival. Wow! They’ve added another (main) bar downstairs and it’s fantastic and a great compliment to the original river bar, which now serves as a function room, which can be hired out. English style Tapas now served (and very tasty too) in the new bar. Modern, airy, comfortable and Hawkshead’s fine beers on tap, they hold festivals at various times of the year too. Food can be ordered from one of the many fine independent outlets in Mill Yard. Fully stocked bar, offering a good range of European beers, wines and spirits. A must if you’re in the Lake District.“
