64 /100 THE BREWERY, HILL FARM, HALF MOON VILLAGE
“Turned off on our way into Devon thanks to the brewery signage on the main road and the fact I hadn't yet bought any beer for the trip. Main entrance isn't too clear, but our confusion seemed to catch the attention of those inside who unzipped a flap to an outdoor bar tent which seemed to lead into the main building. Once up a flight of stairs we entered the main shop and bar. There's around 8 bottles from Hanlons, plus Prescott Brewery who they own as well. Plus some own-branded burger sauces and relishes. Seems they also do a side-line in burgers, served in the aforementioned tent area.“

“Big old stone pub by the railway station in this small village. Doing a roaring trade on Saturday lunchtime, the food offering is clearly popular. The on site brewery is downstairs, all of the beers have railway themed names. Typically traditional styles, 5 handpull cask beers available, all the brewery's own. Nice place.“

“Nice looking modern brewery building, with an upstairs shop and bar, from what I could gather the bar was only open occasionally at evenings, so not open when i was there. They only had 2 of there beers in bottle as well, so not much shopping done.“

“Nice homely feel with friendly staff. I went down stairs and looked through the window to see the small brewery kit. When I was there they had 5 of their own beers on, 4 regulars and a seasonal special. The camera magazine in the bar said the pub (but not the brewery) had changed hands. As such the interior looked fresh and clean, candles on tables, beams and a big fireplace. Dog friendly and had wifi. The food was also really good and worth a visit for that alone.“

“Handy for Newton St Cyres station in deepest darkest Devon (getting a train to stop is a challenge other than a Sunday!) this is a lovely little pub. Nice traditional feel to the place as we landed on a busy Sunday afternoon for a roast lunch. Tried the range of Beer Engine beers, all in good nick as you’d expect as not got many miles on them. Busy with locals, service was friendly and quick. Don’t see the beers too often and I do like to try them at the local pub. Worth a trek.“

“Sitting back and trainspotting seems to be a great pass time of this old converted Railway Hotel situated smack bang in the middle of nowhere that is the country lanes of Newton St Cyres. 4 of their finest on handpump along with two guest ales and a few chilled draughts to whet the whistle of those not into craft beer. Downstairs is an odd art gallery filled with cartoons of a local artist which were used for the pump tags of their beers. Nice cosy porch out back on the rail side, rather limited parking out front given the design of the lot it is built on. Rickety, low beams, the ’L’ bar divided into two with a small dining at one end. Hop vines dangle from the beams and more artwork can be found skattered about. The staff and locals are a friendly lot too, rich with their Deb’n brogue. Well worth a stop if ever in this region.“

“A converted old Railway Hotel on the Barnstable to Exeter Line, popularly known as the Tarka Line. This is now Devons oldest Brewery! Recently a CAMRA pub of the year for the area, the beer is good and the surroundings are comfortable.“
