76 /100 Castle Inn (Bar) MAIN ROAD Visited during a lunchtime in high Summer, but during CV-19 restrictions. Large old style English country pub with thatched. roof, in a. quaint olde worlde English village. Roomy inside and has a decent outdoor area for drinking. The had a good ordering service through an app, and service was prompt. Pub is owned by Butcombe and range via the app seemed mainly limited to the core Butcombe range. Cask quality was excellent. Food very decent but pricey and service was prompt and friendly. |
94 /100 Castle Inn (Bar) MAIN ROAD Very good location and reasonable prices |
82 /100 Castle Inn (Bar) MAIN ROAD Visited July 2016. Old, rambling, pub offering a wide range of food and drink in an area much visited by tourists. The beer range was local and solid, but the stand out is the 40 or so ciders on offer, which come from a number of counties. Service was friendly and efficient on a very busy Saturday, and prices were reasonable. A stand out Dorset pub. |
84 /100 Castle Inn (Bar) MAIN ROAD The Castle Inn is located in West Lulworth and cannot be missed if you are driving down to Lulworth Cove. We stopped past for a few libations after a walk along the coast. The Inn dates back to the 16th century and has a lovely traditional local pub vibe to it. They have a nice selection of local ales on cask (up to 7) from the likes of Palmer’s, Gyle 59 etc. The main draw here is the epic selection of cider on cask, bottle and bag in box. The full range goes up to 45 different ciders! They offer thirds which helps you along with the range. If cider is your thing this place is a must, but beer drinkers are also more than catered for. |
60 /100 MAIN ROAD Visited for lunch on Tuesday, 27/10/15.
Hall & Woodhouse pub offering their own beers on cask, including a seasonal. The place was pretty busy on our visit, largely due to the fact it was half term week, but I’d imagine it’s pretty much year round at this popular tourist destination. The pub is freshly decorated in a modern way, lots of wood, plain walls, and comes across more of an eating venue than a true pub. Service and food was just fine as was the beer condition. Not a go to destination but if you visit the Cove you will walk past here anyway. Dog friendly as per the other H&W venues we visited in the area. |
82 /100 Castle Inn (Bar) MAIN ROAD Pleasant pub on the busy road going into West Lulworth, I reached there on a bicycle tour of the area. Low lighting inside with comfortable fixtures, the place to be is outside on a warm afternoon. This is a cider pub, it won cider pub of the year for 2014. The beers are pretty standard but the ciders are extensive. Much better than being in the hordes on the beach. A killer hill has to be climbed to leave though. |
84 /100 Castle Inn (Bar) MAIN ROAD Picturesque B&B just outside West Lulworth tourist centrum. Nice outdoor sittings and peaceful beer garden (cider garden!). The host of Dorset permanent cider festival! They do have a few casks and some standard lagers, but real Ciders and Perris is the main thing here. Close to 30 local small scale ciders, about 20 of them are regular and well described together with the producers in a booklet. The guest ciders is presented together with the regular at the blackboard with a short description. Possible to order three different 1/3 pints together for the price of a pint, practically if you want to sample a few during your visit. Food is average. Extremely dog friendly. Totally recommended if your into real ciders. |
58 /100 MAIN ROAD Pub, restaurant, hotel and social meeting point in the middle of West Lulworth. Some cask and bottles mainly from the Badger range together with a few international lagers. Some ciders as well. Food is decent but nothing extra. Quite spacious restaurant and a nice outdoor pavilion. The place to be in West Lulworth to socialite with other trawling tourists and drink a few Badgers. |
