“Altogether I counted 28 craft and cask ales spread over two rooms. Interesting selections from well know British breweries and other more unknown smaller ones. A decent beer garden to the rear. It is located under the railway arches, close to the Waterloo tube/train station. A popular, decent, old school pub with well kept ales. Polite service. (Visited with Finn, 02.10.2023).“

“20 draught beers on offer at our stay, a few cask ales among them. Some interesting beers from London-based microbreweries added by a few German beers for the upcoming Octoberfest. 1/3 pints options. Rather small pub room decorated with beer related posters. The place can be seen when walking out from the Waterloo tube station. Polite service. (Visited with Finn, 02.10.2023).“

“Visited Sunday early afternoon in August 2023 - heard about the size of this place so made sure to finally visit and yeah it is a massive sprawling multi level Brewdog bar with plenty of areas to explore, but for me that's where the good aspects start to end. First negative (and maybe my fault for assumption based on luckily having a great local "61" tap bar near home) is that although they have 60 taps here I quickly learned it was essentially the same 30ish beers duplicated across two bar levels. Second negative (that other reviews mention) none of their own "Waterloo" beers on tap, none! and its been open for some time now, with their website highlighting "on-site microbrewery" - well maybe use it and put some of those on tap! On our visit was also virtually no new beer ticks across the choice of 30 beers on offer either, just lots of standard Brewdog beers and a few not so interesting guests. Overall rather disappointing for now, but will probably revisit at some stage when they start offering more of their own beers.“

“Just noticed I've never rated this place, despite being the Mayor. When I was working a couple of times a month in London this was one of my regular after work stop-offs. Close to Waterloo and usually a more interesting choice of beers on tap than Waterloo Tap. An array of well-selected UK and intl beers (mainly US and Belgian). However they are definitely priced higher than average and they also then have a lot of higher double £ larger bottles. From recollection a 750ml bottle was £5 more than I paid elsewhere. Wonder what they pat in rent considering their other overheads will be reduced. The guy uually running the stall is friendly and knowledgeable. He can point you to the nearest loo. Obvs there is a lack of seating - I've often perched my beers on the adjacent bins. Also can take advantage of the neighbouring stalls - I like the Polish sausages and some.fancy doughnuts go down well at home. Pity it's only open on the weekends.“

“Elaborate place over two floors right in Waterloo Station -- it's much like a resort, replete with a bowling alley, slide (from the top floor to the bottom), a podcast station, and separate seating areas in booths with sliding doors for quiet -- really cool set-up. Beer-wise, they have 30 taps on each floor, but most taps are the same (so, sure, 60 taps, but really 35-40 uniques). Mostly Brewdog beers, with a few guests. Beer list was not that exciting when I visited, but I found some things to try. Very good service as most Brewdogs. Other than Tower Hill, this is one of the best Brewdog bars in the city. Worth a visit for sure.“

“Took a while to find this.. if you come into the station through the main entrances, head towards the far right when when looking towards the train platforms (look for a sign 'The Sidings'). It's then at the very end of this new development. This part of the station is still very much empty but seems that quite a few coffee places, belgian chocolate and perfume shops are being planned. So, Brewdog Waterloo. Largest bar in Europe, and very impressive as you walk through, with various seating areas, walk-ways and staircases leading around the area. Layout is distinctly Brewdog, but thankfully eschews the shouty, preachy neon slogans which seemed completely absent. As such, it comes across a bit more like a grown-up Brewdog, less punk and industrial (though there are still elements of this). Very busy this Monday evening, with numerous Christmas office parties going on. Two bars, one upstairs and a larger one downstairs. Like other Brewdog's you can order via the app, so not much of a queue at the bar. A few 'TRAIN BEER' double fridges at the opposite side of the main bar, with no key, so you can literally help yourself and are trusted to take across to the bar on the other side of a fairly large room. Staff were rushed off their feet, so I could've taken whatever I wanted. (But didn't!). Only one of the beers brewed on-site available, an unexciting, bland 'Waterloo' pale. Only a handful of guests, expected a lot more guest beers to be honest, but doesn't look like the crowd here are that fussed. We ordered a pizza, which came mildly warm and cheese partly un-melted. We didn't send it back, should've done I guess, but were too hungry. Overall, impressed and good to see a bar like this in a train station like Waterloo.“

“Have been here twice now. Both visits were brief due to one issue - their Brewdog Waterloo beers had sold out. Second time I had numerous places on my list to get to so didn't bother with a beer. And that's the thing. The place my be mahoosive but it's otherwise a bog standard Brewdog and as per current trends the guest beers are lacking. On my first visit I think there were just two. Will be back again but just to drop in and hope they have some of their own beers left. One thing though... it was pretty busy on both visits (Fridays at 12:30 and 16 30)... but other venues in the area didn't seem to lack for business so where did all these people come from?:)“

“As a real ale drinker. I quite often pop in here. Beer is always in tiptop condition. They usually have anything upto 8 ales on hand pump (cask). Could stay here all day. If you catch it at the right time, the music is pretty good too (obviously personal taste). Great atmosphere and can you believe it, the only free house in waterloo???. Defo worth a visit if you are in the vicinity. I highly recommend it!“

“Great little place within 5 minutes walking from the train station. Its similar to the Euston Tap in ambience and setup, with 26 taps although not all of them are beers to get overly excited about. London breweries are well represented and there's a good mix of styles. Cheaper than I'd expected“

“Visited with friends on 24th July 2020. Trendy bohemian styled bar with a pleasant open feel, vibrant atmosphere and friendly easy going staff. Good range of kegs and very well-kept casks to suit most if not all tastes. Buzzing yet not overcrowded. Well worth a visit and will not disappoint.“

“Thanks Mark for the recommendation - this place is a stormer! Lucky enough to come here off-hours, which meant we could hog the wonderful staff guilt-free. Great selection of beers, more ticks than I could shake a ratings notebook at, including some utterly scrummy Ilkley. So easy to get to from the station, it makes no sense not visiting here if you need to catch a train. A gem.“

“It's surprising how unable we were to find this - I'm blaming a dodgy map! We ended up at the White Hart, and the locals, themselves completely ignorant of the location of the Kings Arms, knew that there was a pub "that way", and "near the fitness club". So armed, we retreated and indeed it was bloody easy from the station/Wellington after all. We'd come under the railway at the wrong point. Derp. Nice locals feel - the side bar was a bit Wenlock-ey. We snarfed our 3 real ale ticks and sat in the extension. Beers were unsurprising, but that's better than some alternatives. Staff were happy to give us some background info on the beers and brands (including a "Watney's"!) Not sure when I'd be near here again, but it would be the highest priority pub I know of in the area. Thai menu looked tempting, but didn't partake.“

“Big bar, set up to serve lots of people. Was quiet as we past through, but staff were not slacking. Would have been a very pleasant interior, bricks, murals, wood, wallpapers, etc, were it not for the large flat screen tellies in various locations. Clearly set up as much for the Carling crowd as the real ale drinker. Talking of real ale, I did find a kinda-tick - a cask version of something we'd ticked on keg earlier, which isn't split on RB, but we thought we'd give it a format rerate anyway, as we're like that. Rest of the taps were premium borings. Location is convenient for Waterloo passengers, but that's a given. Not the most pleasant place to tick, but I'd still expect myself to do a little fruitless shuftie were I heading nearby, and still a stupid ticker.“

“Traditional corner pub just a couple of streets north of where Waterloo East Station is located, amongst some fine terraced housing. The central bar has plenty of cask ales pumps dotted around it, serving some good rotating options, and there's an interestingly ambient back room, a little different from the front, where if you're ordering food is a good place to sit.“

76 /100 THE HOP LOCKER, SOUTHBANK FOOD MARKET, BELVEDERE ROAD
“Stall in the street food market that's squeezed in behind the South Bank Centre. Small but well-chosen selection of beer in keg, bottle or can - none of the "standard" craft brews, they clearly seek out different beers each time. The staff are knowledgeable about the beers they're selling, and as friendly as the busy market allows them to be. They don't sell food themselves, but as they're in the midst of one of the best street food markets (in terms of numbers and range of stalls) this is not really a hardship. The only issues are are ones due to the market itself and which the bar can do little about: (1) seating is exceptionally limited, and generally is of the grab your own step/kerb/wall variety (and even those soon run out); (2) the location is not exactly appealing; and (3) it's outside, do you're at the mercy of the British weather (I wonder if many of the stalls stick it out through the winter?). Nevertheless, next time I'm in London, this market will certainly be one of my first choices for food - in the knowledge that whilst I'm there the Hop Locker will amply supply quality beer rates to go with my meal.“

“In residential streets just north of Waterloo East station, it's a light and airy corner pub with a central bar and pleasant modern styled wood heavy interior design. The selection is ample, although only one new beer here for me from a selection of mostly regulars from micro brewers. Food is served but didn't partake.“

“Much changed from the first time I ever went in here in the early 2000's, when it was a very drab place to kill some time before a train out of Waterloo. Fullers update has made this a very appealing enough place to frequent, with a bar running along its back wall, with a modern-traditional design throughout. Expect are fairly full range of Fullers regular ales.“

“I remember this pub from the 2000's when I lived in London, how many owners and incarnations it has had I couldn't say, but the current one is very food focused, with most of the open plan ground floor given over for this, and if you're not eating you'll have to stay on one of the tables in and around the bar area on the left hand side. There's a number of cask ales, but more keg ales, with nothing mind blowing, but as a non-Londoner on a visit I did find something new here.“

“A ‘pop up’ type bar in south bank food market, close to Waterloo Bridge. Decent selection considering the set up, 6 or 7 on tap plus bottles. As a venue it’s fairly weather dependent, there is tented seating in the market but it’s a nicer place to visit when the sun is out“

“Was in London for a weekend and had a couple of the best beers in here. It was quite busy on a Friday night, but there was room enough to squeeze in. Service was very good and the beers well kept. Atmosphere was a bit bleak, as this is more like a machine for drinking in than a cosy bar. We went on a very cold night, and because this small bar has doors on each side, plus two glass walls, it was cold inside too, at least for my friend, and that was the reason we left.“

“Traditional street corner pub in a terraced street close to Waterloo station. Can get very busy as it’s popular with the after work crowd, people spill outside onto the pavement when the weather allows. “This is my favorite place in London. The opening hours can be awkward but hey, you're most likely to want beer on a Friday, amiright? The selection is small, but updated frequently and incredibly solid. Not a bad beer to be had here. The tap selection is also very good, often they have stuff you can't find elsewhere thanks to Joel's excellent ability for hunting great but little known breweries down. Did I mention that the people are super friendly? Don't miss if you're in town!“
