“Micropub with a definite medicinal theme. Part pub, part museum to medicine ads and packaging (even some tables are hospital trays). It's new, and it feels new although it has that wonderful buzz of conversation heard at the most successful locals. Beer led, with five casks and a few keg including two from To Øl. I'd be remiss if I didn't warn about the prices. This place is eye-wateringly dear, at £3.50 for a third of standard keg IPA (although a pint works out cheaper than 1/3 or 2/3)... so maybe all that hospital stuff will come in handy when you see the price! At any rate, it's a shot in the arm (sorry) to the beer scene in Leicester's outskirts.“

“One of those 'pop in to see what they've got' places. Its a club, but they seem happy to allow non-members. Can get busy but quite large so with only a few punters can feel sterile. The beer choice tonight is safe and Marstons-y (Banks, Marstons, Young's) but in the past they've had some independent outfits such as Kelham Island. Cask beer is in optimum condition. Bottles are negligible but they do have Shipyard's low alcohol Low Tide.“

“Decent suburban pub. It doesn't have the best range I've seen in a Steamin' Billy pub, but neither does it have the worst, and the homely atmosphere makes up for the relative lack in beer choice. I always find Billy pubs a decent place for cider rating and they'll always have one or two on. You can also find a couple Steamin' Billy beers alongside Belvoir Dark Horse and a guest. The best keg options are Hop House and Shipyard, and there's no decebt cans or bottles to choose from. Still, if you're in Syston...“

“Excellent reboot of a traditional Syston boozer. Clean and tidy with nice pub ’trappings’. More importantly the beer choice is good - a couple of Steamin Billy’s are always on (SB owns the pub), some other real ales and a few continental kegs. Nothing too challenging, but it’s great to have such a good choice in Syston.“

“Steamin Billy took over this place in 2011 and gave it a much-needed refurbishment. Pleasingly the bar has been retained in its original central location, splitting the pub into an entirely separate bar and lounge for added character. There are 10 taps including Steamin Billy ales (Tipsy Fisherman, Steamin Billy Bitter and Skydiver), a mild (Rutland Panther), a cider (Thatchers Gold), a couple of Timmerman’s lambic beers plus Lowenbrau, Becks Vier and Guinness. Then there’s the guest beers which, when I went, were two ales (Slaters Arctic and Roosters Yankee) and a guest mild (Belvoir Dark Horse). No meals are served but there are the usual array of crisps and pork scratchings. A very welcome addition to Syston’s pub scene which has been crying out for a proper real ale pub.“
