“Stopped in early New Year’s Eve this past year, rather dead. Cute little downtown this town has. Bar is nice enough nothing special. Friendly server but not all that knowledgeable. They partner with a meadery now most those meads tastes and look the same. Beer list was ok nothing exciting. Not up to what I was hoping.“

“Decent brewpub focused on Belgian styles. Their flight is a little steep from what I remember- was here about a year ago. Friendly atmosphere and nice decor. Good stop, and in a busy nightlife area.“

“Relaxed atmosphere, great beer selections from all over the world, and Volusia County’s first local meadary operates out of there as well. Food selection is a fantastic menu of pressed sandwiches and quesadillas, and has some of the most knowledgeable bar staff around!“

“Visited here in late March ’16 while in the area for business. Crowded, convenience store-type liquor store on the outskirts of town. Has a pretty solid selection of regional craft, Persimmon Hollow, Tomoka, Bold City, Intuition, Cigar City to name a few. Most available in sixers or bombers. Does not appear to be able ot break up sixers for ticking. Have a very limited amount of singles that appear to be nothing more than broken six packs. Not worth going out of your way for, but if passing through DeLand or spending some time here, worth a stop.“

“Visited here in while in the area for business in early March ’16. Typical ABC store, nice wide aisles, bright, well lit, friendly employees, Has a wall-sized cooler full of six packs and a few bombers and imports, Have an aisle or two of warm six packs and a shelf end with pick your own six pack. All of your typical micros and macros can be found, a few regional selections. Worth a stop to pick up some ticks if passing through.“

“Visited here in early May ’15 while in town for graduation. Beer-oriented sports bar loaded with TVs and brick walls and sports memorabilia. Have about 75 taps and about 125 bottles/cans. Al the common crafts a re represented with a few regionals such as Persimmon Hollow, Tomokah, Intuition and Cigar City. Food is typical bar far, burger, sandwiches, wraps and wings. Food prices are reasonable, service is pretty decent and friendly. Beer prices are a bit steep for some of the taps - $9.00 for a Tomoka Jen’s Gin Farmhouse Ale. However, on Saturdays all bottles/can are only $3.00. Decent place to watch a game and grab a few beers - kind of reminds me of a Brass Tap with a more substantive food menu.“

“Visited here in mid May 2015. Fun place in a converted old storefront location in downtown DeLand. Friendly bartenders, very polite, never called ’Sir’ so many times in my life! Great crowd, great decor, comfortable surroundings. Keg-based urinals in the men’s room are a funky touch. Beer is serviceable and I wish it was a bit better, Some do have a bit of a diacetyl house taste to most of their beers - need some quality checks. Definitely worth a visit if in the DeLand area.“

“Abbey is a wonderful place to go and chill out with your friends and enjoy a great beer or wonderful wine. They have many rare beers as well as your tried-and-true favorites. A large draft selection and even more in bottles means that there’ll always be something new to try. Wines served are of good quality and the food is fresh. Service is impeccable. The price is fair. This place should be one of your stopps before you leave any time you’re in Deland.“

“I like the Abbey. I’ve been there a few times and they always have a good number of new beers to choose from. It’s really just a great place to chill out on a couch and enjoy a brew. I’ve never eaten here so I don’t know how good the food is.“

“I finally made it out to this place. I was looking for a new place to try to get some good beer and food. I’ve known about this place but never knew you could get food here before now; thought it was strictly a bar (the food is from a place across the street). This is one of the better beer bars I’ve been to. A wide range of draft and bottle choices. I love the vibe here; quiet and relaxing, nice bar area, pub style tables, and an area with couches for more relaxed lounging. The patio area is small but you can enjoy a brew outside too. Seems like the best of both worlds for me; a nice quiet atmostphere to enjoy a good brew, some TVs to watch a game if that’s what you want to do, and large enough to not feel cramped. I admit, we went when it wasn’t busy at all so I can’t comment on the regular weekend night scene. As far as the food, it wasn’t great, but overall pretty solid. I think more bars are teaming up with restaurants to offer food and I think it’s a great idea. Nice friendly service and the guy we talked to certainly knew his beer. Would be a great local bar and I won’t mind traveling a little out of my way to go back to.“

“Clean, good lighting, a patio, nice glassware, good food, and a nice beer selection. Plenty of beers i havn’t seen elsewhere. Seating and low noise-level make it conducive to conversation, and therefore a great place for hanging out with friends.“

“Our final stop on a recent trip to Daytona Beach, and the 20 minute drive down the 400 was well worth it. Abbey is a modern, cosmopolitan beer bar with ample seating throughout its lounge, dining area, bar, and patio. On our visit we were greeted by a full house of diverse patrons. A chalkboard informs customers of the current tap offerings while the wine rack lines the wall beside the performance stage. Upon snagging a table we received knowledgeable and attentive service from a young bald man with a goatee and pronounced southern accent. He helped me navigate the large draught lineup - 18 craft taps - and suggested a 2006 vintage bottle of Dogfish Head Raison D’Extra as an alternative to the J.W. Lees Harvest Ale, which was out of stock. He also assisted the rest of my table with food choices and ensured that everything came to us as quickly as possible. Top-notch waiter. The beer selection is substantial with a focus on high gravity, Belgian-style brews and expensive dinner bottles from Fantome, Allagash, Dupont, Ommegang and others. I ordered a pint of Stone 10.10.10 Vertical Epic Ale and Victory Yakima Glory and a bottle of Weyerbacher Hops Infusion. The Vertical and Infusion were good while the Yakima was absolute dynamite. The menu could benefit from more 12oz bottles, session beers, and American offerings, and the prices are quite steep, but there’s tons of quality stuff to be had and the existing bottle list is consistent with the bar’s theme. For food we had the Carolinian and Portuguese pulled pork, veggie mac and cheese, smoked meatloaf, salmon remoulade, and red velvet cake. All of the dishes were fresh, tasty, and affordable. As we were paying our tab we noticed a band setting up on stage, and I’m sure the live music only enhances the fun and bustling atmosphere. Overall, Abbey is the standout beer destination in Volusia County and I will undoubtedly return here on future trips to Daytona. Great open and welcoming vibe, unrivalled selection for the area, and superb service to boot. I can’t see how anybody wouldn’t enjoy themselves here.“

“Visited over Thanksgiving with my family from Daytona. They aren’t big into the beer scene like me but they wanted to give this place a shot. The inside has a great ambiance to it. Art on the wall, comfy couches, live music and great beers on tap and bottles. The only problem is that there aren’t any tv’s, which was sort of a bummer, but I wasn’t complaining. I will most certainly be back.“

“Visited here in late October ’10 while in DeLand for parents weekend at Stetson. Felt right at home - made it by there twice during the weekend. Excellent selection of taps (about 15 or so) and bottles (at least 60 or so). Had some Cigar City, Terrapin, Odell, SKA on tap to name a few. Many hard to find Belgians, a handful of JW Lees, some Colorado micros and they were featuring Dogfish Head - had at least half a dozen from them. Great atmosphere - big garage-type door opens up to the street when it gets busy. Servers are knowledgeable and friendly and always offer a taste before the pour. Food is from the restaurant across the street (Norville Barnes) which just so happens to be owned by the same folks. Had lunch there earlier in the day - excellent. Stop by if in the area and plan on staying a while!“

“Over the past 2 years I have traveled to DeLand frequently on business. I have to say that the Abbey is one of my favorite bars that I have ever been in. They have 18 taps and they are constantly rotating the beers on those taps so every time I go in, I am pleasantly surprised with some fantastic beer that is hard to find elsewhere. These guys KNOW their beer and get their hands on some good stuff. There will always be something on tap to please the beer snob. I promise! Do yourself a favor and pay the Abbey bar a visit!“

“Ive been there a few times and its always good. Pretty busy on the weekends, but still tables. They had a good draft lineup and bottle list. Prices seems a little high. However there is no other place like this near here. The service was good, but they held my credcard to keep my tab open. Which made me uneasy. I will continue to go here.“

“Super Discount is a run of the mill beer and liquor store that is located in a small strip center. It doesn’t look like much, but they have an incredible selection of craft beers. They have a full section devoted to craft beers featuring great breweries like Bells, Great Divide, Lagunitas, and tons more. I was extremely excited to find such an excellent beer selection at a great value in DeLand, FL. Super Discount is a gem in the rough.“

“SOUTH of Road 92... In the nice part of Deland. Great place, with more choice (surprises await) than on their web site. 16 taps, including CCB Jai-Alai, Stone RIS and other interesting brews. Great service from the guy but a weird, a bit depressed girl came in late, I heard... My girlfriend and I ordered food that came from the restaurant on the other side of the street, with the same owners. Maybe not that "world-class" but worth the 45-minute drive, easily. If I ever go back in central Florida, be sure I’ll go back!“

“What a great place! The selection is waaaayy better than I’m used to. More beers I’ve never seen than anywhere else. (Although they didn’t have double dead guy which is my new love.) The guys there are super-friendly and even told me about ratebeer! These guys know way too much about beer and can answer just about anything you can ask. New to Florida and I already found a new home! Thanks Kevin!“

“Okay. This was a strange little place. Definitely not what I was expecting. First, its kinda in the middle of nowhere, and was a bit hard to get to. However, once we were there, the interior was very nice and welcoming. We sat in the little couches and I could have taken a nap. The waitress was very knowledgable, very friendly, and took great care of us. The beer list was awesome. And the food was basically paninis and salads. A bit limited for my tastes. I dont think I would go out of my way to go here again, but if I was in the area, I would definitely drop by.“

“Tried this place for the first time a few months ago and was definitely not disappointed. The day we visited was sunny and cool, so the entire front of the Abbey was open to the street which gave it a very European street pub atmosphere. The Belgian beers on tap that day were pretty excellent St. Bernardus, Piraat, Leffe, and a few others. Very nice bottle selection as well. Unfortunately, they were out of Trappist Rochefort 10, so I had to settle on a bottle of the 8, served in the appropriate Rochefort glass. The food we had for lunch was very good and they had a decent selection of it. Prices are competitive. Sadly this place is two hours or more from our house or we would visit more frequently.“

“Had a group of friends all go try this place out and we really liked it. The wines were good and I had a flight of IPAs (Acme, Redhook, Hebrew, and 90 minute), plus they have an impressive bottle selection. Relaxed decor and couches plus a nice bar. Service was outstanding and staff was fairly knowledgable. While it is a haul from Orlando, a neat new place to visit.“

“My fiance and I visited here a few weeks ago and we really enjoyed it. This was quite a trek from my house in Orlando, but I will gladly make the trip again to go back. The selection is pretty good as there was some stuff on tap that I hadn’t had before, and their stuff is always rotating. It is a nice cozy setting with some couches and live music playing as well, which was nice. They did have food, but i didn’t try any of it. The service there is really friendly and knowledgeable about what they have. I met Todd the owner and he was really nice too and talked to us for about 20 minutes and even shared a beer as well. The only drawback was the prices are pretty high for the stuff they have. I am used to Redlight and all the great prices that are there. This is a really great place and look forward to coming back again and bringing some friends this time.“

“This place is great, ive been there 4 or 5 times now as it is a trek from orlando for me. Usually go with boboski and solan but i am always up for making the journey. Todd is a great guy, and his passion for trying new beers and making his bar the best it can be is very encouraging. Great selection on tap and in the bottle. Also, have had the luxury of trying a few home brews on more than one occasion from friends of his bringing beer to the bar. You know its a great bar when you got people coming to the bar for beer, and people bringing beer as well. Keep up the good work and see ya soon!“

“17? In Deland? Hell yes. Deland is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by more nowhere, but that is part of their secret. I gladly, regularly, drive the more than hour trek to visit. Todd, Rosy and staff are all so nice and willing to do whatever they can to improve your visit. The focus lies on beer but the wine selection is adequate, nothing exciting on the grape front though. Todd is new in the beer game but has more enthusiasm and desire to learn about good beer than I have seen in a long while. Not afraid to carry monstrous beers or ones that command a hefty price tag. No food, but the mexican restaurant across the street is fantastic as well. Very classy establishment. Well done, I hope they keep it up.“

“Abbey is a great place to relax. The staff can actually talk about beer and recommend anything based on your preferences. Its great to walk into a bar and not see Budweiser sings hanging. It is very close to a local university, so weekends nights get crowded. I was told by the staff that they usually get 4+ new beers in a week. Worth the drive not just from Orlando, but Daytona Beach as well. Food is amazing as well.“

“Deland is a small town NE of Orlando. Maybe the last place you’d expect to find a good beer bar. But right there along the lone street that is downtown is Abbey. Todd, wife, and staff are great. Of the 10 or so taps, 2 or 3 at the most are macro. Always 4 DFH brews on tap. The beer list has a ton of belgians, including all trappists available. The wine could be improved. The walls are covered with a local artists beer impressions. Bar seating, bar high tables, and plush couches with coffee tables in the back near a small stage set up. Classy place. Worth the 30 minute drive from Orlando.“
