Harpoon Harry's (Restaurant)
1200 W RETTA ESPLANADE
“Harpoon Harry’s is all about the location, with its picturesque setting over the water at the end of ‘Fishermen's Village’ wharf. With all the shutters open and a slight cooling breeze coming off the water it is a good place to chill with a beer on a warm afternoon. If it wasn’t for this setting, it would though probably be just a run of the mill sports bar with quite a few TV screens dotted around. The beers available on tap were from a selection of lagers from big commercial brewers, and a few craft beers; mostly pale’s. The bar lady let me try a couple of samples and I opted to go for the ‘Free Dive’ IPA by Coppertail of Tampa. All drinks are served in ‘Harpoon Harry's’ plastic cups, but you can at least make a souvenir of them if you wish!“

“A nice Taproom in Punta Gorda with a camping vibe. Service was friendly and there is plenty of parking, free wifi. The beers are so-so to good, with the black ipa being of most interest. 4 4 ounces pours for 8$. I understand there are food trucks on weekends...“

“A nice brewery Taproom in Punta Gorda. 10 beers on tap, good but nothing special. Flight is 4 for 9$. Food options are sandwiches, pizza and entrées, all around 7 to 14$. Free wifi, parking. Good service (mind you, I was the first client on a Sunday)“

“Visited here in late May ’16 while in the area for business. Tucked away in quasi residential warehouse type area but very close to I-75. Comfortable surroundings, nice decor, plenty of room. Have 10 of their own on tap and a few guest taps. Available in flights, pints or growlers. Decently priced and pretty solid tasting. Wifde range of styles available. Food was available, not a full menu, but finger foods, pizzas etc available. Did not partake, but several others at the bar seemed to be enjoying it. Great place to stop if passing by on !-75.“

“Great (only?) place to drink beer in Punta Gorda...34 taps with several Florida pulls. Old ice house has been renovated in to a British pub with great ambiance, good food and service. Will be back!“

“Friendly service, good pub food and decent selection of drafts. Wife and I took friends for a first visit. We were not disappointed and plan to return. The potato and leak soup was very thick and tasty. Also had fried artichokes and fried pickles, very good. Had the cheese and meat platter. Great combination of ham, turkey, salami with 4 kinds of cheese and Jacobsen crackers. Better than a ploughman’s. Meagan, our server was friendly and made sure everything was prepared to our satisfaction. The deserts of chocolate cake and bread pudding closed out a wonderful evening.“

“Apologies to the owner, I had thought I rated this cool little Pub before. Really cool old wooden door welcomes you to the upstairs of this old Punta Gorda Building and on to a darkly lit English style watering hole. Behind the bar is an impressive selection of about 24 taps (there are a number of bottles also available) Several local offerings along with some of the best Belgian and US craft beers. A burger was ordered and was as good a pub burger as any. Service was excellent as I was offered to sample many of the beers before a decision was made. There were several HD televisions which were tuned to sports. The owner was behind the bar and we had some nice conversation about the craft industry as he is highly knowledged in the art of beer. I recommend stopping here if you’re within an hour or so because it’s worth the trip!“

“The wife and I visited Ice House Pub after leaving the SW Florida International Beer Festival last Saturday. I’d wanted to check it out for a while and was finally in the area. The atmosphere is exactly what I want out of a British-style pub. Several varieties of pub games, pool tables and 10 dart boards lining the walls. The bar is pretty large and features 25 taps (only 24 were available since Sculpin tapped out about an hour before we arrived). The bottle selection is quite extensive - around 140 bottles according to the bartender. They have a wide array of glassware and everything seemed to be served properly. The food consists of traditional British pub fare. The wife and I both ordered grilled chicken Caesar salads (I know) and they were decent, nothing special. The service was outstanding. The bartender seemed to be very knowledgeable and was more than willing to explain the rules to the games that were available. I will definitely be returning to Ice House Pub in the near future. I only wish we had a pub like this here in Fort Myers. I’d be there all the time.“

“I usually keep away from anything advertising itself as an Irish pub. Just because you serve Guinness and paint shamrocks on the door and have coasters with Sláinte printed on them does not make you an Irish pub. Does it Bennigans? However, when my good friend (who is Irish, like born and raised Irish) asked me to meet him there I thought I should give the Celtic Ray a chance and I am glad I did. With all of the laughter and friendliness of a traditional Irish pub this place is a great place to enjoy beer and friends. Though not a huge selection of beer they have everything an Irish pub should. Definitely a place to check out!“

“We stopped there after the beer festival and after two hours of serious tasting were in need of food (and more beer). Unfortunately, after 20 minutes we could not get a server to our table. As we were getting up to go elsewhere our server finally appeared and was very apologetic and the rest of the evening was great. They had a good beer selection. Though nothing really stood out as exceptional, any serious beer drinker could find something they loved. For me it was a real Black & Tan. The food was really good for bar food and if you go you have to try the fried dill pickles. Extraordinary! The atmosphere was great too with a wall devoted to steel tip darts. An oasis in a desert of Coors Light! I will definitely be back.“

“Place was nice. They had a band playing in the back on Saturday night. Staff was nice and knowledgeable about the beer. All I had to do was ask for a Stout and I received several choices in the blink of an eye. I will definitely visit this place again when I’m back in town.“

“Recently found this place after moving to the area. The atmosphere is really nice. I always enjoy a dark drinking establishment instead of having lights blasting in my face. I enjoyed the Irish decorations, and the comfortable surroundings. They do not have an extensive selection of beers, but what they do have is worthy of my time and money. The bartender was very knowledgeable, and turned me on to a couple of good beers I hadn’t tasted before. I was somewhat disappointed in what I ordered, the fish and chips. Tasted frozen. Maybe I’m wrong, but doubt it. But I haven’t tried any of their other food yet, so who knows. I will return, when I’m looking for a relaxing comfortable place to cool off and have a nice beer with friendly people, and providing that more than makes up for some frozen fish.“

“Version 2.0. Damn the max characters limit. Anyway, it only took one visit for me to get hooked on the beer selection, and one with my wife to get hooked on the food. I’m now a full time regular. My home away from home, LOL. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable about their beer selection, and it’s extensive. Easily the best place in at least 50 miles in either direction for the beer enthusiast. A good selection of beer on tap, and a great selection in bottles. With Jerome in the kitchen, the food is always top notch, including the best burgers around, and fresh fish and chips (fries for you morons). The wait staff is very attentive, and worthy of a good tip every time I’m there. I’m currently on an IPA trip, and they have much to choose from. Go here, and you will never be let down. Don’t know what you want? Ask Daryl, and he’ll point you in the right direction.“
