70 /100 GLYMPTON ROAD
“On Tuesday 22nd July 2014, we went out in Chico (the new car) having first visited the Falkland Arms we were now at The Killingworth Castle. The last time we were here we were Morris dancing on a nippy New Years Day about 4 years ago, since then this pub has come under new ownership and appears to have had a refurbishment. The pub is on the Glympton road and sits on the edge of the village, its a reasonable sized place with outbuildings and a good sized garden. Inside as you enter is a large oblong room with bar ahead slightly to the left, tables off to the right (and probably elsewhere) are set out for diners and it appears that this pub like many other country pubs nowadays is heavily reliant on the food side of the business. However the food looked good, there was an interesting menu, admittedly on the slightly pricier side but I gather this place now has a bib gourmand from Michelin, whereas I have to make do with a set of tyres and a set of Spanish maps from them. Beer choice came from the Yubberton brewery which brews for both this pub and its sister pub the Ebrington Arms in Chipping Campden, just over the border into Glos’. There were other beers available but of the three from Yubberton I had the Cotswold Brown ale called Yawnie which was in good nick and a beer I rather liked. I didn’t do too much snooping about at the rest of the pub as it was such a lovely summmers evening we sat outside, but perhaps one day I may come back for a meal.“
