“The Exeter Arms hasn't had a brewery since about 2016, an unfortunately while it is a nice enough place it no longer focuses on beer. It seems to be very, very food led as befits the location, and the menu looks both varied and reasonable for the area. The cask beers available are JHB, Old Speckled Hen and Grainstore's Rutland Bitter, plus quite a few low/no alcohol beers. By all means stop by for the food and the atmosphere but I'm afraid the beer selection may disappoint.“

“Really nice village pub, but it’s so much more than that, due to its on site brewery. Friendly staff, know their beers, and how they were brewed. Modern open feel although it’s a really old building. Dog friendly and wifi I think. Really nice place for a relaxing afternoon.“

“Beautiful sunset drive with a full moon on a crisp fall day to this picturesque village. Small stone building, large car park, picnic tables out front. Handful of regulars at the bar, and families with kids eating, but the rugby watching crowds were elsewhere at local world cup viewing parties. Four of their own beers on offer plus one local cider, and brewer/proprietor Martin happily gave me small samples of all of them. Three hoppy ones tasted fairly similar, and there was a nice mild. Food was tasty pub fare. A worthwhile stop for sure.“

“In an idyllic looking village in Rutland, this pub stands above the slightly sloping village green that includes a pond, classic red phone box and lovely cottages, some of which are thatched. There were several people with easels putting this picturesque scene on canvas - who all rushed into the bus shelter during the brief rain shower when I was here. I wasn’t outside at this point but the tables in a line outside of the front of the south facing pub must be an excellent place to sit in the sun. Inside the pub stretches along the length of its front with lengthly bar against the back wall. There’s a decent amount of seating for a village of this size and excellent home cooked meals are served at lunch and in the evening, with an afternoon closure on less busy days of the week. All this is a good enough reason to stop if you are close, but just as good a reason is that the landlord brews his own ales and you’ll find nearly half a dozen available from his Barrowden selection, and is happy to chat about his brewing and give you tasters too before you decide. There’s a car park here but there’s ample parking around the village green as well. “

“Visited october 2014. Lovely country side brewpub, placed in the center of the village. Easy to find, once you have found the village :-) and parking just next to the brewpub. Friendly landlord, great atmosphere. Good range of their beers, served in good condition. Traditionel pub food menu. Wifi and rooms available. For sure worth a visit :-)“

“Visited for a mini lunchtime session on 10th Oct 2014. Good looking pub with the Northampton border across the road, the stone wall being the actual border line. Friendly owner/brewer and wife, Tried three different beers, all fine and our sandwiches were lovely. Four of their own brewed beers on cask, did not really notice what keg taps were available. Clean, tidy and a lovely location, well worth finding if in the area.“

“Excellent pub in a beautiful rural location. Very friendly landlord who brews his own range of beers in the micro brewery behind the pub. Always worth a visit“

“Visited here on Saturday 14th May, cycling around the Rutland Water area. Pub is situated in a very pretty Rutland village, opposite a large duckpond and green. The food seemed popular however as we were not eating I didn’t check out the prices. There were six handpumps, five of which dispensed the beer brewed at the pub the other was GK IPA as I recall. The pub beers were a touch hit and miss with the Beech and Bevin the best of the fivesome.“
