“Historic Georgian pub, owned by the Walcott Hall estate, and situated right by its main entrance. Walcott Hall was designed and built for Clive of India and is a magnificent place - if you are looking for a place to stay, it has some self-catering accomodation that's worth looking into. Failing that, you can camp in the field behind Powis Arms. It's a grand looking place, it gained its name when Robert Clive's son earned the Earldom of Powis by marriage and so moved into Powis Castle. Expect two local cask ales, on this visit we found Monty's and Ludlow Brewing. Food uses locally sourced ingredients, and seems to be of a high quality. Worth a stop if in the area, just don't let the huge LEAVE MEANS LEAVE poster hanging from the outside of the building put you off.“
