66 /100 Lion O'Morfe (Bar) UPPER FARMCOTE Visited on 25th May 2019 with a bus load of local CAMRA members to give the place our 'Rural Pub of the Year' award. Old main building with a new (2016?) conservatory for extra space. Known locally for the quality of it's Real Ale, mostly sourced from Shropshire or Herefordshire; usual keg selection and no proper bottle offerings. Nice place but not a 'tickers' paradise. |
71.4285714286 /100 Lion O'Morfe (Bar) UPPER FARMCOTE Nice country pub with a down to earth vibe, tiled floor with no carpet in the main bar area which is a good sign, some interesting plaques and historic signs, and a bench apparently used frequently in the filming of Inspector Morse, or so the badge pinned to it says. Impressive old fireplace / oven. Beer range sees some mediocre bitters from Wye Valley, as well as some Hobsons, Enville and Three Tuns. 3 different Westons cider bottles in the fridge. Some locally made Scotch Eggs that looked so tempting we bought one, very good it was too. If that doesn't take your fancy, they also have sausage rolls and filled rolls, clearly popular given the size of the stack behind the bar. Yeah, liked this place, even if the beer range wasn't too exiting. |
78 /100 Lion O'Morfe (Bar) UPPER FARMCOTE Visited this 2018 Good Beer Guide pub while on a coach tour of Shropshire pubs and it was the last one, so a bit crowded, but we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere with the locals. Beers from local breweries like Enville, Wye Valley Hobsons and Three Tuns. We enjoyed the Three Tuns XXX . |
