ChainGangGuy (5800) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - APR 11, 2024
UPDATED: APR 11, 2024 22 ounce bottle - $28.50 at Woodstock Beer Market in Woodstock, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a very dark brown appearance, fairly opaque. Slim, light khaki-colored head ring. Smell: Deep, rich toastiness with a faroff edge of roast. Strong sweet-scented maltiness of simmering brown sugars and treacle. Resound dark fruitiness. Heady aromatics of bourbon barrel aging. Taste: Predominately toast though with a little hem of roastiness. Heap of brown sugar, Dutch stroop. Sharp fruitiness, ranging from vibrant cherry to gooey, sticky dates. A big sweetness and a big fruitiness. Moderate barrel character, though not hard nor particularly harsh in its yielding tannins. A lightly tangy fruitiness and still an intractable sweetness on the rather smooth, warming finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Lightly carbonated. Tooth, stick mouthfeel. Overall: Very smooth and very sweet, though certainly a slow-sipper.
