COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Why so punny? “Helles” is German for “light colored.” Hotter Than Helles is more than just a (very) silly pun; it perfectly reflects the nature of this beer. A lager meant to be consumed when it’s truly hotter than helles outside. So there are no peppers or spices in this beer!

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2019 Backlog, draft in FL. Pours a cloudy yellow golden with a medium to large frothy head. Notes are corn, cracker, lemons, and toast. A little thin and tangy in the close. Decent Helles lager.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2019 Well....this is a tough one to review. This is a weaker style to me, made for 'hotter than helles' summer days in Florida. Very drinkable though with some decent flavor, mainly wheat and banana with some mild hop. Hard to say, but actually taste like some corn in there too :(. Not one of the better ones from CCB. Aroma is kind of skunky which brings down the rating some. Glad I finally got to try this, as was curious about it. A good beer....but not great by any means.

Fizzy yella lager. Grassy and faint lemon. Cool and refreshing tastes like a quality German Helles should. There is a top of the mouth barley sweetness like apples. Comparable to kloster Andechs. Done right.

islay (3622) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 5, 2016
12 oz. can, consumed on 1-5-16. Pours a clear, pale bronze to straw color. Large bubbles gather at the bottom of the glass. Moderate amount of short-lasting, cream-colored head. Nothing wrong with the appearance but nothing special about it either. Scents of cream, butter, flower petals, Chardonnay, and champagne. Quite pleasant, fresh aroma. Good, German-like, helles aroma. Very nice, golden raisin to green grape taste. Chardonnay (buttery white wine). The flavor matches the aroma. Light body. Lively, smooth, and frothy while still crisp. Good lager palate effects. Really nice helles overall. It’s a subtle style that is hard to stand out in this sort of rating system, but it is good. I’m sure it would be even better on a hot summer day instead of the cold winter day in which I’m drinking it.
