750 mL bottle. Originally reviewed 8/5/2013. Viscous black. Dark mocha head. Medium collar and a few islands. Smells of tons of brandy. Peppers and chocolate. Dark chocolate and a green aroma from the peppers. Tastes of rich chocolate. Brandy is less distinct than the nose, but still present. More chocolate. Peppers and some other spices. Very thick. Medium carbonation. I’m still not convinced that barrels improve on Hunahpu at all.

Bottle @ It’s raining cats and whales tasting: Served in a taster: Black beer. No head. Nose of apples, roast, light cinnamon, apple pie, some sweet chocolate, cookies, sweet dusty malt roast, light mocha... Flavours of roast, bitters, apples, brandy, hints of liquorice and chocolate, dust, light cinnamon, bread, sweet crust (yet friendly spicy).... Aftertaste is bitter, vanilla, apple, roast, light spice and some dusty apple pie... Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, full bodied.

From notes. I shared this bottle with ebone1988 and Eddie, because why the fuck not?! The pour is jet black. This thing is like night in a glass. There is a thick collar of medium to dark brown head and no last. The aroma is spectacular. Tons of cocoa, chile heat, a light coffee, and a great sweet brandy presence. Got damn. I love this because the brandy barrel cuts the intensity of the normal Huna just enough. This is magic. The flavor is very similar. Lots of chocolate, coffee, spice and chilis, with just enough of a brandy sweetness and light oak to really balance and tie it together beautifully. The mouth feel is thick and chewy with a soft carbonation that makes it last and hang around for days! The aftertaste is lightly spicy and sweet brandy dragging out forever. I might’ve wept into the open bottle once I realized it was all gone. Fuck this was good.
