jgb9348 (10814) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - MAR 13, 2019
UPDATED: MAR 13, 2019 Perfectly clear golden and light copper coloured body with a very thin, single centimetre tall pure white head that fades fairly quickly. Aroma of very funky brett and soured yeast with a lot of oak present and a nice tart, fruity bite with only some dryness and light yeast evident at the end - very clean. Light-bodied; Super pale and clean malt and grainy flavours noticeable with a dose of oak, grass, hay, fruits and especially the soured and bretty yeast funk which is evident throughout, in a very good way. Aftertaste shows the oak barrels with a decidedly tart and soured flavour that shows some vanilla and a lot of dry white wine and vinifera grapes throughout that give a very PNW bite to this that seemingly persists for the entire beer. Overall, a very nice, crisp, clean and enjoyable beer that show the dry flavours and tartness that is very nice for the style, but is accentuated by the barrel aging. A great beer to sample and well worth trying to find, especially as you leave and get further from Portland! I sampled this eight ounce pour on draught from Toronado in San Francisco, California on 13-March-2019 for US$5,00
