COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bourbon Street Stout is an Imperial Stout that is aged in Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon barrels. Our Imperial Stout is brewed with a combination of pale, caramel, chocolate and roasted malts. Oats are also added to give the beer a fuller and sweeter taste. The roasted malts give the beer its dark color as well as its intense flavor and aroma. After fermentation the beer is cold aged for 6 weeks. This is necessary for all of the flavors of the malt and hops to balance and produce a very smooth flavor. After the cold aging the beer is transferred into the bourbon barrels. It is then aged for another 8 weeks to absorb all of the flavors from the barrels. The result is a strong stout that brings out the roasted flavors from the malt and the warming toasted, vanilla, and bourbon flavors from the barrels.

Pours black with medium head. Aroma is chocolate, roast and bourbon. Taste is chocolate and molasses, warming to roast and finishing with bourbon. A very good, straight ahead bourbon imperial stout. Not complex, but no surprises.

Black with a brown head - Heavy bourbon aroma with wood and vanilla - Malt body with some fruity tones with wood vanilla and bouzy bourbon - The bourbon, wood and vanilla goes into a finish with alcohol heat - This was good

Bomber, 2014 vintage. Rich roasted malt aroma with notes of dark chocolate, caramel, oak, vanilla and bourbon. Pours dark brown with a thin mocha head that has some retention and lacing. Starts with roasted malt and dark chocolate flavors with a kiss caramel malt sweetness as well as a nice full body and smooth, slick mouthfeel. Finishes exceptionally smooth and a bit dry with excellent bourbon, vanilla and oak flavors that meld together well. Great imperial stout with the oats really smoothing out the body nicely.

Tasting at Matt’s
Black color, medium sized beige head. Nice aroma of dark malts, some chocolate, wood, hint of fire. Smooth mouthfeel, moderately sweet; nice flavor of dark caramel, moderate to light malt depth, and evident buttery bourbon.
Nothing special, but it’s a quite good beer.

Bomber, Kroger (Rio Hill). I never noticed their bomber section before (is it new?). I’d guess they have about 30. Anyway, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is dark chocolate, vanilla, coconut, maybe raisin. Flavor is chocolate, bourbon, earth, toast, some fruitiness, burnt coffee. Finishes with a burnt coffee and chocolate candy flavor, which is unfortunate, as the bulk of the beer is nice.
