The body has a dark appearance with good clarity and very deep brownish amber color. On top there is a huge light tan head that has great retention. It lasts all the way to the last sip slowly fading down to thin cap along the way. Also it makes for some cool splotchy lacing on the glass. The aroma has notes raspberries and rich lightly roasted malt. The base of the flavor is a sweet, lightly roasted malt with light buttery, bready and raspberry that adds a little tartness. Hop flavor is very light and understated. It has a solid medium body and its carbonation is light on the tongue with a smooth almost creamy feel.

Draft. An average winter ale. The aroma was a pleasant malt scent with a bitter finish, and the appearance was a medium brown with a decent white head. The palate was a medium body with a bitter, crisp finishing texture, and the taste had a similar bitter finish to it. Malty caramel notes complimented by dry bitter and a touch of hops.

Picked up the new winter seasonal from otter creek a raspberry brown, sounds interesting. Pours a dark reddish brown with a stingy beige head that dissipates quickly to form a cap. Smells of vanilla some brown sugar and a sweet fruitiness that I guess could be raspberries. Slight chocolate aroma as she warms. Taste is meh. I found the raspberry to be forward up front and a bit artificial. Think Sam Cherry Wheat but not as bad. There’s a tartness midway through each taste. There’s some brown sugar and sweet malts in the background of a beer that finishes quite dry. Medium body and carbonation with a syrupy/watery mouthfeel. This reminds me of a raspberry wine cooler and ex girlfriend used to drink. If you mixed it with Newcastle you would get this beer. I didn’t really enjoy this one much.

Rich creamy sweet malty Scottish toasted caramel body. Excellent flavor. Spiciness reasserts itself in dry crusty finish. Sampled 1/3/2000.

Lots of alcohol on the palate for such a low ABV. Dark reddish brown color. Okay. Rated 1/18/03

Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of caramel and dark fruit. Tastes vegetal and spicy with a sweet finish.

Malty, clear caramel aroma with some spice in it. Overall, a very good seasonal ale. The beer never goes skunky if you live in Vermont.
